Surprisingly nice little scroll saw for the price
I'm a little leery of cheap tools but I bought this one because I had some projects coming up that would take way too much time with a handsaw but were too intricate for our other power saws. I must say I'm pretty happy with it. Pros It's sturdy metal where it counts, with a fairly wide table and adequately deep throat for what I'm doing (patterned wood/metal/micarta knife handle material). The ability to swap the blade direction 90 degrees gives you the ability to cut pieces too long for the throat, and doing that also gives me more room to clamp on a fence if I need to make straight cuts (although I'd probably do that on the bandsaw). The hold-downs work well to keep the material in place as I'm sawing and rotating it, and the flexible light does a good job of illuminating the cutting area. It also uses either pinned or pinless blades, which is nice when the local hardware store is out of one or the other. It has a sizeable opening for a shopvac or dust collection hose that is easy to place and remove, and a blower to move dust away from the cut. We added a separate power switch that automagically turns on our little shopvac when the saw is powered on. The setup works pretty well to give me almost dust-free cutting. Since the saw is lightweight enough to bring it to the work, I can actually set up in a living space without worrying about covering everything in sawdust. Cons Very minor: The safety plug in the power switch is easy to lose when you pull it out. We drilled a small hole and attached a lanyard so that we can hang it up and keep it safe. Irritating: There is a convenient little storage box attached to the side of the base housing, intended for spare blades and other small replaceable parts. That's a nice addition...but the box must be emptied and removed in order to get to some critical parts of the saw. Bigger issue: The motor is a bit weak; I stacked two quarter-inch thick pieces of dense, exotic wood (padauk and African Blackwood, total of 1/2 inch) and it nearly overwhelmed the saw. The 3921 may have the physical dimensions to cut two inches thick, but if I planned to do that repeatedly I'd buy a more heavy-duty machine with a more powerful motor. All told, though, this saw is definitely worth the price. If I ever get to the point that I'm working on larger, thicker projects I'll upgrade to a more professional saw, but right now this one is doing everything I need.

Great little saw for the money.
This is a really good little saw for the price, It used pinned style blades, so you cant get into the really small spots, but the saw works well.

Various uses, small, light weight and inexpensive various, replacement blades.
Light weight and portable. Just right for those small intricate sawing jobs. Very flexible due to the various and different blades available. Changing blades is a snap. One of my basic tools, used a lot and I find more and more use as time goes by. Wood, PVC, plastic no problem.

It's incredible how it works and very good quality, apart from the fact that it has an excellent economic price, I love this product

Good saw for beginner
I'm working with small pieces about the size of a quarter. The blade stays tight but the foot clamp loosens with vibration. Needs frequent re-tightening. The blades included were of so-so quality. The pinned blades are easy to replace. Will purchase better quality blades going forward. I use this for about 80% of my cuts and take tiny areas out with a rotary cutting tool. This saw is far better, quicker and cleaner than my coping saw. Happy with purchase.

I would recommend this for beginners, but take care...
I like practically everything about this saw - the noise level is good, L-H speeds are comfortable, etc. The problematic things I've experienced are black table insert and the saw blades themselves. I'm still a beginner using scroll saws in general, so keep that in consideration when reading. This saw isn't compatible with very large blades (it's not a band saw), so the ones it can use are thin and flimsy. In order to cut a straight line, the blade should have very little bend, which is difficult with this saw because the blades are flimsy and can bend and warp easily. These blades also have a tendency to grab and hold onto whatever piece I'm cutting until the piece is "jumping" if I don't use the right amount of pressure. This means my fingers need to be very close to the blade in order to apply pressure in the right places. I would not feel comfortable using this without work gloves, and even with gloves this makes me feel a little dicey. Other than that, the black table tray insert is a problem for me when working with smaller pieces. When guiding the piece over the tray, it very often gets caught on the [intentional] holes in the tray and will not move forward. I have to gently lift the piece mid-cut, and lessening the amount of pressure like this causes the piece to get "caught" on the blade and begins jumping as mentioned above. Basically, this is a good saw in my opinion and I would recommend it for beginners. Practice a lot with the speed and amount of pressure needed to guide your piece safely through. Don't just force the wood through the blade as quickly as you can. Take your time and use work gloves.

For a starter, this is easy to use. I would recommend changing the blade holder to the toolless version(which comes with it) and replacing the 4mm wing screws with 4mm bolts. this will require a 7MM socket to tighten, but it is well worth the modification. It provides a better grip for the pinless blades. Understand, this works very well. If you are having problems, look up Youtube video content "scroll saw" for tips and tricks. This saw is next to idiot-proof and very safe...even for children. Excellent tool.

I did not like the LED light assembly because it was vibrating too much. Converting it into an air blower was easy and it works great! Other than that, it is a great machine and I like it a lot.
