great bit of kit
purchased this multi-drill because i really needed a drill at home and this seemed the best deal at the time, and after using it for a multitude of projects the two most outstanding features i have found so far are the battery life which is seriously good, and the added extra 101 piece accessory kit which is brilliant, there are so many pro's with this device i will not bother to list them i will simply say if you need a new drill for home DIY use then look no further the only 2 con's i found as you can see from my star rating is that the drill is a little heavy...not uncomfortably so but for an elderly lady or someone with inexperience i would say look for something lighter and the second is that it had issues drilling into concrete it does not carry even half of the power of a decent SDS drill so i would avoid using this for heavy drilling, but for regular around the house usage it is great and a bargain with that 101 piece set and carry box p.s. the battery charges pretty fast too

Makita DHP453 and 101 piece set- Great kit
The Makita DHP453 is my first cordless drill. In my experience with the tool so far I've found it to be great for general light duty DIY jobs around the house, at the shed and garage. Although it's on the lower end of Makita's range of combi drills, it packs more than enough power for occasional infrequent use and it's part of Makita LXT family which means you can share batteries with other Makita tools in the lxt ecosystem. It's no slouch though, a construction tradesman friend of mine saw this the other day in my tool shed and was pretty impressed and told me it could be used by tradesmen because of its robust metal gear housing. While it is not a brushless motor, it is more than sufficient for the occasional DIY'er like me. In any case having a brushless motor drill won't make any difference for me given my occasional use of the tool. However, it's slightly heavier mind you. Mine weighs 1.92kg together with the 3ah battery that comes with it but that's ok for me as the drill is well balanced and not in the slightest bit unwieldy. The best thing is that the drill came together with a 101 piece Makita kit with all manner of bits. This is without doubt a great toolset and I honestly cannot recommend it enough. Not to mention it's made by a reputable brand company highly regarded by construction professionals and tradesmen.

I can heartily recommend this!
Best drill I've bought and ever used. Simply phenomenal. The set it came with pretty much has something for everything and everyone, too! I'm very thrilled with it. Comes with many functional settings, seems to have more of a powerful "buzz" than my other drills when at full charge, and man, does that charge last! I charged it for a few hours in the morning, started doing work putting up a friends workshop, and it was still charged at the end of the day, and into the next! We must have done at least 500 screws throughout the day and the drill didn't falter once! That might be because it's new and fresh, but still, I was surprised at long the juice lasts, with no seeming drop in performance. I'm extremely impressed. Think I'll be buying Makita from now on. Cheers!

Great DIY tool
Got this as I eventually had to give in to needing a proper drill for some DIY projects. This came as a very good deal, and the accessory set is very extensive. The drill itself has a great balance, with enough heft to feel solid but not excessively heavy, rubberised handles to give a good grip, is easy to use and clearly packs a punch.

Good drill for DIY
I loved this as a new drill and the tools that came with it. I’m disappointed with the battery life though, when the going gets tough, the tough doesn’t get going. This drill was recommended to me but I should have researched more. It’s a great drill for light work, suited to the DIY enthusiast.

Great household drill that wouldn't be out of depth on site.
Makita enjoy a successful brand and i think the reason is the quality of tools they produce, be it top of the range or starter, they are all great quality. This drill is no exception and it has mostly everything you need to cover all your jobs around the house and potentially onsite. I've put both a bathroom cabinet and 2 sets of kitchen shelves up so far, both into brick and the jobs were easy to say the least. More than enough power and battery. The case has an empty spot for another battery fyi and so if you plan on using it a lot i would advise buying another battery so you can keep a constant rotation up and have endless use of your drill, if you plan on heavy usage of course. Heartily recommended.

Does all domestic jobs
Bought this drill because our electrician recommended Makita. His is a much heavier model, but this works well for all domestic DIY jobs. Great value for money considering all the useful kit it comes with. It's lightweight and easy to use.
