Considering the price, these tweezers are probably the best available. However, they are not top quality, which would be far more expensive. These tweezers are: * Magnetic (contain iron) * Reasonably solid and well made * Actually Made In Japan, which many sellers falsely indicate * Bargain-priced and high quality compared to truly high-end tweezers, which start around $40 and go up to several hundred * Highly recommended if they fit your criteria With proper care and appropriate use, I suspect these will last as long as I need them, possibly for someone else too.

As an engineering family we love well-made things and have a special fondness for items Made In Japan, Germany, Switzerland, etc. With very thorough and detailed, old school pride, which altho not totally gone, seems increasingly rare in the U.S. sadly. The funny part is I wanted a tweezers for the family's splinter occasions (not soldering pcb's) and these are a little too heavy grade for the smaller people in our family. Overall though I'll take these over crapily made "just for splinters" or cosmetic tweezers. I work with wood and home remodeling materials and sometimes the splinters can be very fine, also from our terrible cactii collections, or conversely go very deep and thick. So these ARE really what I wanted for accuracy and sometimes digging thru the top layer of skin to get the nastiest big splinters! I made a special place in our bath vanity drawer for these and trained the whole family to ALWAYS put them back (with the little silicone sleeve that keeps the points closed and protected)!
