LG G3 (D850) Metallic Black

First let me say, my last 3 phone's have been Samsung's. So after doing a bit of research, and seeing how cheap my upgrade would be, I settled on the G3. My order arrived within 34 hours after purchasing it. (2 day free shipping) Unboxed everything, started the charging process and then began restoring all my data. I used CM Backup and highly recommend it, as it was one of the quickest restore's I've ever done. Then I went about digging into the settings, and optimized things for battery drain purposes. Almost all of my app's synced via the Google Play services update. About 80% anyway. So I installed the things it missed, organized my home screen and then read a few "tip's and trick's" articles online about all these other unique features the phone offers. My favorite has to be being able to quickly pull up the camera via the volume down button on the back. Very handy. Another tip is to change the picture rez within the camera settings. By default, it's set to 12mp, you can up it to the full 15 with one switch. Other than that, the battery charged in less than 3 hours!! Another first for me as my S3 would take at minimum 4 hours. So now I'm putting it through it's paces to see what I get out of the battery on it's first charge. Then of course keep charging and discharging at least 3x to get the max life out of the battery. It's a beautiful phone, especially compared to my S3. I'm sure it'll take a while to get completely adjusted to LG's version of TouchWiz and functions. But so far, I'm very happy with the phone and even though it's not all metal, It wasn't made to look like the plastic it is. Has a nice sturdy looking design and just feels right in my hand. (average size) Gorgeous screen and very snappy response while multi-tasking with various apps and features. And for 1 penny?? The best penny I've ever spent. I'll try to update on my experience with it in a few weeks. ----------------------------------------------------- EDIT: Jan 19th - So far, so good. This screen is gorgeous and the quad core cpu combined with the 3mb of RAM, really fly. Even when I've multiple apps running at the same time. I just got the (LG G3 Case, SUPCASE Premium Hybrid Protective Bumper Case) for $15 for it and it may not be the most drop protective case, it has a nice feel with just enough protection for me. Love that the battery charges in 3 hours or less, usually 2:45 or so. But I also bought an external device charger for 2 phones for $25. Even though I seem to be getting right around 10-12 hours of moderate use out of it. I can keep this in the car to charge both my wife's phone and mine. (Wirecutter's Pick - Intocircuit® 11200mAh Power Castle Heavy Duty 5V 2A/1A Dual USB Ports External Battery Pack Charger) The only problem I've encountered is the phone auto rebooted 2 days ago while driving across a bridge I travel on. Haven't noticed it before or since, but will def be keeping an eye out for that again.

I am happy to say that the G3 is the best cellphone that I've ever had! I had the Lumia 1020, which I returned for being defective... Awesome camera, but the lack of apps is a huge downside of windows phone yet... Also, I had the Samsung S5, thank GOD it came defective too (display issues and overheating), I am a big fan of the Samung S3... I tried for one week the S5, and I got pretty disappointed... The reason is called TOUCHWIZ, it's too heavy to be used with Kit Kat!! It has lag issues, I had performance issues while I was playing REAL RACING 3, poor frame rate... Also, the cam is not good in low light conditions... Which is crazy... And the heart beat scanner is silly, because it's gimmicky, it takes more battery life and nothing more... Also, the Heart beat scanner brings inconsistent readings all the time... With that being said... So I was thinking to myself, which cellphone should I buy? I decided to go with the LG G3! And I cannot regret!!! I bought at full price! To use with Straight Talk! There is no need to unlock (yet) if you use the G3 on Straight Talk, also I am getting LTE, which is great! The G3 is freaking fast, and I congratulate LG for making the G3 resembling so much the Stock Android OS!!! It runs fast, and if feels great! The IOS Camera is another plus!! I take pictures all the time with my phone! And G3 manages to take great pictures in low light condition! Of course, the laser focus is a great advantage as well! A 4K recording along with the 2K display are a great combination! Also, I am going to add some pictures in low light condition! :-D The Knock code is so helpful! Easy and it feels secure to use anytime... With the Snapdragon 801, plus 3 gb of ram and 32gb (plus MicroSD expansion), and QUAD HD DISPLAY (It's simply the best in the market)... you cant go wrong!! Price wise! It's pretty fair!! :-D Ps.: I just posted a few pictures! On low light condition and sunset :-D

I LOVE THIS PHONE. My regular G3 had the screen crack, and I had already used my insurance to replace it, so I couldn't do it a second time. I had to buy one off-hand. This phone has always been great, a little larger than normal, but a great balance of features and functionality. The camera is beyond excellent as well. My two biggest complaints are this--1. Unlike cheaper LG phones, with this phone if the screen gets cracked EVEN SLIGHTLY, the phone will detect it and go into an "emergency lock mode", where you become 100% UNABLE to use the screen to unlock or access your phone. It WILL allow you to answer calls if they come by pressing the power button, but you cannot make calls or send txts or anything. It simply tells you to contact LG or your service provider to have it repaired. This seems like an utter rip off, for LG to make just a LITTLE issue into a financial gain for them. Shame on you LG. #2. THE BATTERY IS CRAP. It is a MASSIVE battery for the phone, and yet it drains EXTREMELY QUICKLY when you use the phone in normal, mundane things like making calls, but drains HYSTERICALLY FAST when you engage in something graphic-intensive, like a game or using Maps. Not only that, but the battery frequently gets EXTREMELY HOT when in constant use, and if you try to charge it WHILE in use, it can overheat to the point where it will STOP CHARGING bc it is SO HOT--OR SHUT DOWN YOUR PHONE to help it cool down.

I purchased this phone in upgrading my Galaxy S3. I was thinking of getting the S5 as I like Samsung, but then this beauty came out, and I knew I had to have it, and now after playing with it (and playing around on my friends S5) I am EXTREMELY satisfied with choosing this. First off, the phone is insanely fast. Quad-Core processor and 3GB of RAM really show. It did not come loaded with too much "bloatware" and MOST of the bloatware that did come with it was easily disabled. The battery life on the phone is just incredible. Before I would have to walk around with an extra battery in my pocket just in case. With this phone (at least with having ART enabled, which can be easily done in developer options, to unlock them look up youtube video to do it, its very VERY easy and increases battery life and helps apps boot faster) I could charge my phone every other day, and I use my phone a decent amount through the day. I may not be the heaviest of users, but I do quite a bit on it (and this is with all settings on, but brightness lowered). The screen looks AMAZING, some people say that its not bright enough, but personally I had to turn the brightness down to about 60%, when I turn it up all the way, its just too bright (but that may just be me). On average, I use about 8% every 3 hours. Even with a 5.5" display, the phone does not seem "too big" (just being .2" smaller than Note 3, it looks and feels a lot smaller). With such a little amount of Bezel on the screen, they were able to put quite a large screen on a smaller phone. Getting used to the rear buttons may take a little to get used too. I personally only use them for volume as the knock feature is amazing, and never need to press the power button (to lock or unlock). I am extremely glad I decided to choose this device over the S5, Nexus 5, or Note 3. If you are unsure about the phone, go into a store and test it out. If you are looking to upgrade, go into a store and get one (you can always return it within 14 days). I think LG has done an amazing job with this phone and will hopefully give the other big companies more competition (I am tired of only seeing Samsungs and iPhones)

Until yesterday, this was the best phone I had ever owned. I considered myself sold forever on LG mobile devices, having influenced multiple family and friends to buy LG G3 and G4 products. After 16 months with my phone, which I purchased brand new on Amazon, the screen faded to black from the corners and subsequently turned off. The haptic feedback and LED light indicated that the phone was still working, so I am assuming the LCD panel was bad. Subsequently, the screen only flickered on occasionally, going dark within seconds. I'm pretty handy with tech, and not afraid to solve many problems on my own, so I did some quick research on the problem and discovered seven pages of LG G3 users with the same problem, and on the same time frame (http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g3/527306-why-does-my-lg-g3-screen-flicker-fades-darkness.html), about a year and a half in. Okay, I thought, LG is a reputable company, and I would now say the prevalence of this problem rises to the level of "known issue," so I reached out to the company via LG's online service request. Ironically, I received a grammatically incorrect email (see the photograph) instructing me to call them (my only phone is non-operational). This morning I borrowed a phone and made the call. After talking to a robot and listening to some irrelevant promotional offerings, I got through to a call center. The woman on the phone was pleasant enough, but even my tri-lingual brain couldn't decipher her accent, and she couldn't understand me. After some work, I realized she was demanding the phone number attached to my SIM card. I politely informed her that this was private information not directly attached to the phone I purchased off contract. She then uttered something completely unintelligible to me. I politely informed her that I was having difficulty understanding her, and she abruptly hung up on me. I am not willing to waste my valuable time on a company that doesn't value its customer base. The smartphone market has thin margins these days. For LG, the market just got thinner.

I recently upgraded to this phone from the Samsung Galaxy S3. For months I was certain that I would be upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy S5. That was until I stumbled upon this little beauty. The phone's x-large 5.5 inch screen is MUCH bigger than Samsung Galaxy S5's 5.1 inch screen. I was unaware of how much of a difference there is when comparing tenths of inches. But now I know 0.4 inches is a major difference. This phone is creeping into 'phablet' territory (see the Galaxy Note's 5.7 inch screen). But the Galaxy Note is much more expensive, even though it is basically a Galaxy S5 with a larger screen. The screen is not only bigger, but it has a much higher resolution. The LG G3 comes in with a QuadHD 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and 538ppi against the Galaxy S5's HD 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and 431ppi. Again, the difference is apparent as soon as you turn on the phone. I place a lot of importance on the quality of the screen I'm going to be looking at 50-100 times per day. The LG G3 has the same super fast 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor as the Galaxy S5. But the LG G3 comes with 3GB of RAM as opposed the Galaxy S5's 2GB of RAM. It also comes with 32GB of storage at no extra cost. The Galaxy S5 starts you at 16GB of storage or you can pay more and get one with 32GB. Physically the phone is stylish and feels durable. Much more so than the GS5. One thing that is taking time to get used to is the location of the standby/volume buttons located on the back of the phone as opposed to the side. This is a minor inconvenience and I'm sure I will adapt as I have only had the phone for 2 days. I can see the advantages of having the buttons on the back. It's almost impossible to press them by accident and they are easier to reach. It's just a matter of breaking old habits. My favorite feature so far is the Knock Code. Basically you can unlock your phone from a completely black screen without having to push any physical buttons first. It sounds like a small feature, but you'll be surprised how much more convenient it is to unlock your phone in one step instead of two. The keyboard is also a dream. It's taken me a long time to get accustomed to software keyboards as opposed to hardware ones featured on the old blackberry's. But this one lets you customize it to your tastes. You can make it larger and you can even choose which buttons go where. Typing has never been easier. And for someone who texts and emails constantly throughout the day, that is an extremely important function of my phone. Overall this is the best phone I have ever owned and I can safely say it is the best phone on the market right now. I did months of research before deciding to buy the LG G3 and I'm glad I did. So if you're on the fence between this phone, the Galaxy S5, the Iphone and the HTC One M8. I would recommend choosing this phone. [...] Thank you!

Let me start out by saying this is a great phone. My last phone was a Galaxy S3, and though this has a bigger screen, it is plenty slim and I don't notice any additional size when carrying in my pants pocket. The power and volume buttons on the back take a little getting used to but I like the setup now. The lack of a physical home button also took getting used to, but it gives a lot more space for the screen, and you can configure the buttons to either stay persistent or minimize after a few seconds, on an app by app basis. I love that - those apps that I will be in for a while and want the extra space for I have minimizing (they come back up when you drag from the bottom of the screen), others that I will be in and out of I have the buttons stay on. The activity tracker is nice, i have no way to confirm it's accuracy though since I don't have a stand alone tracker. Also like the IR blaster for controlling my TV/Cable box, although you really need to point it directly at the device, which leads to a lot of missed signals. I use face detection to open and close to the screen. Probably not the most secure method, but very convenient and after using the setup program in a few different kinds of light, it is nearly 100% accurate, with PIN as a backup method. Now, the screen. It's big bright and beautiful. I love that the auto brightness lets you set an underlying setting. So your auto brightness may be at 100% or 50% or lower. This lets you allow the screen to dim and brighten automatically, but if you tend to like it a little brighter or a little darker than an "average" person, you have that control. There is no way you're seeing an individual pixel on this thing, it is just so clear. But there is a trade off. That screen is very power hungry. The phone does a great job of managing power outside of the screen, and screen is consistently about 50% of my battery usage. If i'm using it moderately, or in low light situations where the screen is darkened, I get through the day fine. If I'm using it heavily, it needs an intra-day charge. Now about that charge. This should be QI wireless compatible out of the box. But the US version is "crippled". This means you either need to buy a case that support wireless charging, or buy a "sticker" that makes the right connection for QI. That sticker is about $10, but it bothers me that the phone is crippled intentionally in this way so LG/Verizon can sell expensive cases.

My phone messed up so this was a replacement phone. Was never big into dropping loads of money on a phone unless In a contract with a carrier with an installment plan. This phone does the job AS A REPLACEMENT until you get A GOOD ONE. This phone lasted me from April 2016 till Early February of this year (2017) it completely bricked. Which is a bummer because I was hoping that it'd last until I'm able to get a contract. Can't at the moment due to credit (I'm young. Barely have any credit) or I was hoping it'd at least turn on so I could bluetooth a few things over to my new phone. Samsung J7, I LOVE IT, WAY BETTER DEVICE, Ordered it off of here too. 😁Paid about the same price. As for the phone itself, it's okay. I had a G3 before, it was just under Verizon (my bfs brothers phone. Bought it from him) idk if it's just me but it feels more secure to get a phone from a carrier than online. Maybe it's just paranoia...like the product isn't as great, like maybe the phones are refurbished and not brand new like the online description says which would explain the low price.... ANYWAYS, as for the phone ITSELF, it's decent. I'm BIG on taking pictures, I HAVE to have a good camera, the back camera is good while the front camera is decent if not okay.. The picture is a little fuzzy. But, the phone did what i needed it to, and I used it 24/7. Im constantly on my phone, downloading things, on social media, editing pictures, downloading and playing music, customizing icons, you name it. Maybe I'm just hard on phones lol. I was suprised it lasted me that long. However, I firmly believe it would probably last longer for someone who is elderly or not quite the user or just someone who uses it quite a bit just not as often as me haha. Being perfectly honest though, the battery life absolutey SUCKS. I could fully charge it to 100%, turn down the brightness, shut down all apps and it would still drain the battery. I even had battery doctor on my phone for the longest because I'd freak out going out or going to work and be worried that it'd die on me. So I couldnt enjoy it while being out. I'd have to use it minimally to none at all. I mean, there were tons of times i'd be at work, have it FULLY charged before leaving the house, turn it off and save the battery for my hour lunch break so i could you know be on facebook, play a game, listen to music and talk and text but instead when i'd turn it on the battery would be LOW like 50%-30% even though all I did was turn it off and then back on for my lunch. Needless to say, it was annoying and i made a habit of lugging around my charger which is also annoying and a pain, especially it dying while you're out, needing to use it and fighting to find an outlet. Also over the course of these months that went by, i bought not one but TWO batteries off of here to fix the issue with no results.The first battery I got helped the issue some but it only solved the issue for a month until it got stuck in a loop power on and off cycle. Which, again, I got the second battery to solve THAT issue. I believe the first replacement battery I purchased was called Anker (Supposedly really good batteries. High reputation online) and I got it in June... Two months after I initially got the phone. Which... Says a lot. But, like I said, people who occasionally use, the elderly or people who use alot just not like annoyingly alot like me probably could make this phone last way longer haha. Dont get me wrong, its a good phone, decent specs, camera and speed the battery just sucks and dont even bother using it outside or in your car because you wont be able to see the screen no matter how hard you try and you look absolutely silly trying to squint, put your hand over it to shade the screen and look, haha. The phone itself is durable, I recommend a good screen protector and case and it over heats like crazy so be prepared for that. All in all, a solid phone, just not the best.
