A good acoustic guitar does not need this amp.
I have one of these units for an electric guitar downstairs, which works good. I recently bought an acoustic guitar with and electric pickup somewhere inside the body. When I plugged the acoustic into this amplifier, it was drowned out by the guitar itself. Keep this in mind when you consider buying this amplifier.

I love this little speaker.
I had purchased one previously awhile back, loved it enough to buy another. I currently use it with my cellphone.One thing I did notice though with using it with a cellphone, do not try to charge your phone AND use this speaker at the same time. For some reason it gives absolutely horrible feedback. Otherwise, when its just plugged in by itself, works great.
