We love our new mailbox. We got it after some exterior renovations with a new mid century modern look, so we to decided to update our mailbox. The quality is great, very sturdy and easy to mount. It came with buffers so there’s a big enough gap to open the top without hitting the wall. Part of the reason I picked this one (aside from the modern look) is that I have the option to lock it or not lock it. Most of the other options was one or other- couldn’t do both. I also like the side opening door vs the ones that open downward, everything tends to fall out when the door opens downward. The side compartment for bulk mail is cool, however my mail carrier hasn’t used it. Luckily the main compartment is spacious enough that it hasn't been a problem. Also, it came in handy when a friend left her sunglasses at my house and I wasn’t going to be home, she was still able to come by and pick them up because they were safely in that side compartment.

Another reviewer complained that the mail slot was too wide to prevent someone from reaching in. I think the two "flaps" that bend down to create the mail slot can, with some care, be bent up to make the slot narrower if there is a situation that requires more security. The mailbox is easy to install, not necessarily using the screw anchors supplied. Outside walls are typically complex. Siding on the outside and framing on the inside. The screw anchors won't work to use the framing for a secure hold. I drilled the first hole for one of the top holes in the mailbox. I discovered that the framing was 3/4 inch inside the wall. Allowing 1/2 inch for the rubber spacer pad, 3/4 inch to reach the building framing, and another 3/4 inch into the framing to support the mailbox meant using a 2 inch screw. The top screw holes are teardrop shaped to allow putting the screw in first and then hanging the mailbox. The first screw (on top) securely supports the mailbox. The mailbox is then leveled and the second top screw is driven. The mailbox is now level. The bottom two screws are then drilled and driven and the mailbox is now supported. The bottom holes are not teardrops and so the box cannot be lifted and removed. In order to be able to hang the box #8 screws are needed. The head is the right size to pass through the bottom of the teardrop but not pull out of the narrower top. Specifically I used 2 inch #8 stainless steel "truss head" screws. These have a coarse thread that holds well and they won't rust.

I ordered my mailbox a cajillion years ago. Hadn't gotten around to hanging it up until about two weeks ago. It looks amazing. Not too industrial or utilitarian, just an all around grown up, don't mess with me mailbox. Stood aloft to look at how proud I was of my work. You know that moment after a job well done when you go: self, good job and yourself goes, thanks. I stood back all proud and stuff and my self said: where's the key though, genius. Yeah, it took me 6 months to get around to hanging it and I couldn't find the set of keys included. Look in the box, you say? Great idea. Box, in my infinite wisdom, had been disposed of already. I look through my orders, find the name of this company, contact Amazon, they give me the customer service number to call which brings me to Josh at Peelco, a prince among men. I say Josh, funny story.....he says B, we got you. We can cut a new key or send a new box, what's your poison. I said new box. He said gimme 3-5 business days to turn your life around. And I $%^& you not, he did. 5 out of 5 stars for the mailbox. 11 out 5 stars for this company's customer service. I'll be recommending Peelco to all my mailbox deficient neighbors.

I bought this mailbox because I have people going through my mail practically every day. I loved the design and the magazine holder, so I went for it. When I got it, I noticed that the slot on the top looked too big. So I tried to get my hand in through it and although it didn't go in all the way it went far enough to grab some of my mail and pull it out. So it won't work for me. But it looks great! So if you don't have problems with people stealing your mail I say go for it!

Instruction is hard to understand and I recommend two people to install this as it's very hard to balance the mailbox while trying to screw it to the wall alone. It's also very easy for people to steal mail since the slot is wide enough for even my boyfriend's hand to go into. Keeping this just because we threw away the packaging and don't want to bother installing a new one yet.

Easy to install and actually just fit where the old (unlocked) mailbox used to be. High quality and seems to be made very well. I imagine it will last a long while. I added some address numbers on it for the finishing touch. Very happy with the purchase. Now if I could just get the pencil marks off that I put on so I could add my street numbers..dang...

I am very pleased with this mail box. I purchased it for a key drop box at my shop. The key drop envelopes fit perfectly in the newspaper holder. It is stylish and sturdy, very well made. The opening is a little larger than I would prefer, but it has not been an issue for my application. Thank you again for a great product!
