Gravity Falls: Dipper's and Mabel's Guide to Mystery and Nonstop Fun! (Guide to Life)

I can't believe we put off ordering this book for our Daughter. She's a diehard fan of Gravity Falls, which my Wife and I often watch together with her. It's an interesting change from two of the other books that we've ordered for her, that are related to the show. The Book of Bill - she's a huge Bill Cipher fan. And Journal #3, which is also terrific, although some pages are a bit tricky for her to read. But this book really hits the nail on the head. It's jam-packed with so much stuff from the show. But unlike the other books, it's got so much stuff that's true to Mabel, you can tell they put their time and effort into this. Awesome illustrations, really funny content, and the poster is just the icing on the cake. For a while it was hard to find books that really encouraged our Daughter to read more. But this really made a positive difference. It's not just that our Daughter likes the type of material. Because we've gotten her books related to other shows that she enjoyed. It's just that the Gravity Falls team put together a fun, interactive book that she will pick up again and again. It's what, twelve bucks? You've got that. It's hard to get a large pizza for that price. I think we spend more on a single fast food drive-through trip. Yet those are things that you get to enjoy once. This is a book that your child will own and enjoy for years. Not to mention, it will get them to unplug from the electronics and games for a while, and actually read. So when you're finished reading this review, your next move should be to add this to your shopping cart and then check out. When you see the smile on your child's face as they crack the book open, you'll realize it was the best twelve bucks you've spent all year.

If you've been holding out on a Gravity Falls purchase for something with a bit more new content, then you've definitely found the right book! It's stuffed to the brim with lore, facts, codes, activities, and silliness. Everyone's written in-character and I appreciate that new art was made for parts of the book. While it's no Journal 3, it organizes existing Gravity Falls knowhow from the point of view of Dipper and Mabel (even some new info that hasn't been mentioned in the show yet!). If you've enjoyed pausing the show for funny/mysterious details, then you'll love catching all the little goodies in here. Though Alex isn't credited as one of the writers, he approved the book himself and added in some of his ideas, so you know it's legit. By the way, the ciphers people have been finding in the show are now officially revealed by Dipper in the section about Secret Codes. I really appreciate that they're letting these codes be more accessible to kids now, because at first it was only the online community that really talked about the ciphers hidden throughout the show. There's even a decoder wheel you can cut out for the Caeser cipher! This is exactly the kind of book I would have LOVED as a kid (and currently love as an adult). I don't want to spoil anything, but reading through it feels like watching an episode, with just as many laughs and gasps as the show it's based off of. Now I just need to buy two more for my siblings. I'm definitely keeping this copy.

This book is so good! Mabel and Dipper are written in character, it's funny, entertaining and has lots of clues related to the show. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's FILLED with hidden goodies. I'm thinking about getting a second copy because mine is full of sticky notes. Besides, this would tide you over until the show comes back from hiatus in Summer 2015. I hope they make another one for the third season. UPDATE: July 17, 2015 The show's come back from hiatus and there are actually jokes in this book that didn't pay off until 'A Tale of Two Stans'. I'm constantly gobsmacked at how much detail was put into this book. I bought another of these for my sister, who is seven, and while she doesn't get all the references that older fans of the show would get (like all the cryptograms), she's had a ton of fun doing the other activities. We even did Mabel's recipes for drinks and they turned out really good.

This is one of a few items I've purchased for a birthday gift for my 10-year-old niece. It arrived in excellent condition. Out of all the gifts I've purchased, this one is her top favorite. She loves the book and takes it everywhere she goes. It's a perfect gift if you know they enjoy watching Gravity Falls.

I really like reading this book and doing the activities inside. It is so enjoyable and the jokes make me smile. I do kind of wish it was JUST Dipper writing, but I understand why they added Mabel. It arrived in about 3 days and it was very exciting to see it. The book is high quality and the colors are very bright, the cover is textured and glossy. But my favorite part HAS to be the "Make your own Crumply" My new pet is the best! I've added a picture of him for good measure. Also, the poster is very nice.

Compré este libro como regalo de navidad y ha encantado. Lo divertido del libro es que cuentan cosas de los protagonistas y hacen al lector participe, el único "inconveniente" es que si no sabes inglés pues poco entenderás. Aunque es un inglés simple y sin complicaciones.

The book is very high quality. It has a lot of fun activities in there for kids. Great for any Gravity Falls fan, young or old.

Me llego en excelente estado. La impresion de la pasta dura es algo curiosa, ya que tiene algunas letras como si estuvieran hechas de pintura inflable con brillos, dandole un toque gracioso, ademas que las impresiones de las hojas muestran una excelente calidad. Aun que parece mas un libro de actividades, estilo revista para niños, tiene bastantes curiosidades de la serie. Asi que puedes contestarlo (ya sea en el libro o en hojas aparte, como si fueran anotaciones) o dejarlo intacto para conservarlo en un sitio especial. Si eres fan de la saga, como yo, no puedes perderte en conseguir este libro de Dipper y Mabel para tu coleccion de Gravity Falls
