This thing is "grate" for risk averse people, because it's wicked sharp and will grate vegetables, cheese, fingers, etc. quite easily. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND buying and using Microplane's optional slider attachment every time you grate anything, because without it sooner or later your hand will slip on wet vegetables or crumbly cheese, and you'll thoroughly grate your fingers. Just use the slider attachment, and you'll be fine.

It’s well made and grates easily and well. It seems like it should hold up to frequent use.
