Excellent quality, favorite inks!! Great price for what you get!
Buying this is is the best thing I could do! The price is very fair for what you get. I'm an illustrator and I work mainly with watercolors and inks. I've tried many inks and this is by far the best! If you don't have the money to buy both sets, set #1 will do specially because it contains white and black inks. I've seen this being sold separately in craft stores and they are way more expensive that way. This inks are waterproof and won't bleed once they are dry even if you add water, which is great if you want to do a lineart with them but paint with watercolors. They're shiny once they dry and have the most beautiful and intense pigment I've used. I highly recommend them, also the color is so intense that usually you just need a drop or top for very large areas, so this ink will last a lot of time.

My Absolutely Preferred Brand of Ink
I ADORE Dr. Ph. Martin's inks. The colors are true to how they appear in the bottle (once any sediment has been properly shaken up and suspended), truly waterproof, no fading. Do note that this some of these inks are light colors. Again, true to appearance, so they don't darken when written with. White ink on white paper is extremely difficult to read--but white ink on dark paper is a really nice effect! The ink doesn't run and bleed everywhere, it works with every nib I've tried (quite a range, every modern leonardt, almost every modern speedball, several others), and almost every paper (anything your nib scratches to bits is obviously out of the question). It is a thicker ink than many others you might find--it flows beautifully, smooth without breaks, but you don't want to, say, leave it in a roundhand nib with a reservoir untouched for ten minutes. It is ink. It will dry. But that just leads me to another plus--it's easy to clean out. Once dry it flakes off nibs at the touch of fingernail, not counting unfortunate grooves. It responds well to nib cleaning solution, abd of course when wet (again, not counting grooves where any ink would get stuck) it wipes right off with paper. I've also found that it come out of my scrap cloth with little effort, but don't go spilling it on your carpet or favorite white shirt and expect it to come out. I just mean that the scrap I use for cleaning isn't darkly or noticeably stained from these. They also are wonderful in painting, and again waterproof, so you can do things like soaking a drawing in tea to make it appear aged without worrying about losing the drawing.

Amazing!
Love these inks! Wonderful deep colors, non toxic, What more can I say?

Great water resistance. Work well alongside other media.
These inks work well with a traditional dip pen (NOT a fountain pen) and once dried will not budge. They are pigment based, not ink based and dry a little shiny (white seems to be the most shiny.) They work over water color, Copics, and Derwent Inktense. Because they are pigment based they will clog a fountain pen and if you are working with them under a hot artist's lamp for hours, you will have to clean off your pen once in a while because you will notice it starting to cake up on the pen. That said it flows very well, nice bright lines and I am very happy I have them.

These are really great, I love them.
I really live these inks! Painting with the ink is really nice you can also add water to them which adds to their usage which I love. They also work well with my dip pens. I can’t show to much in the photo because it’s for a personal project but the only thing in this drawing that is white is is the beam that goes through the lower part of the drawing. Your able to get bothered extremely light and dark tones with one color. Straight out of the bottle the ink is insanely vibrant. I only have two things I have to say against these inks. The purple ink isn’t purple enough if you use a dip pen it’s almost black, which you can see in the second photo. The second thing is that the packaging while good for storage could be a little bit more sturdy.

Leak in packaging but overall, I recommend this product. I found them a lot of fun to work with and really beautiful in color.
. As an artist I have my usual, favorite mediums to work in but am I'm a complete novice in the world of ink and calligraphy, I thought I'd like to branch out, try these inks and see what they have to offer. Initially, I actually really wanted to order the Dr. Ph. Martin Hydrus Watercolor set, but for about $20 extra, I was a little hesitant. Instead, I went for the India Ink set from the same, popular brand with a plan to dilute down the colors as needed when in need of a more subtle wash of color. Here are a few of my findings in buying and using these inks... * The circular packaging is nice and displays each of the bottles clearly with a little dip in the plastic next to it for you to decant/mix the ink if you so wish. I chose against this because I can see the whole thing ending in a big mess as these inks are permanent. Instead I use a ceramic or plastic pallet when blending colors. When using the colors alone, I just dip directly into the bottle. * Still on the same subject of packaging... and the reason why I had to deduct a star, is because the blue ink had spilled inside! However, when I opened the box, it had since dried completely. The lid on the bottle however, was on pretty well, I can't find a crack in the bottle so can only think that the lid had lifted off and spilled only for someone to put it back on, ship it out and hope for the best. The ink lost is minimal so it's no big deal just a little annoying. * As an experimental purchase, I debated whether to buy the same India Ink in smaller sized bottles but in the end decided against saving a few dollars. My reasons for this were 1) for a fraction more in cost, you recieve double the quantity and 2) this particular set came with durable glass bottles and pipettes. I have no idea how you'd go about decanting ink from the same plastic bottles so I'm glad I didn't have to face that dilemma and subsequent mess. * The colors are really rich and vibrant (I believe the other assortment of colors are more subdued). The pigments are intense and apparently meet good lightfastness requirements. If you want to tone down the colors, a little mixing could render some beautiful subdued shades without you having to buy even more colors. In the same vein and a to a little of my disappointment, diluting the ink with water reduced the color intensity vastly. It was to be expected somewhat anyway, but it made me change about applying subtle washes of barely there color. * They dry really quickly. This is great, I'd imagine for calligraphy or line work but there isn't much of a window for blending on paper unless again, you incorporate the use of water. When dry and in full strength, the finish is semi glossy. They are also waterproof. I hope that helped you in your decision making. Overall, I recommend this product. I found them a lot of fun to work with.

The colors are amazing! So vibrant and perfect for inking watercolors.

The Inks are very Vibrant colours and they can be worked into the paper so easily. There can be a great tone variation attained easily by diluting the ink with water. The flat brush use to create a smooth toned wash comes so easy with these inks. I have used them with dip pen and the nib flow was smooth and easy. I have also used them with brushes for wash and outlines and results are spectacular. The best one is the white ink , it is so opaque it can be easily used even on top of black. Last I would recommend this packaging over the other smaller bottles for two reasons : 1) Easy to use with a dropper in each bottle 2) Ofcourse you have more Ink to create more Haha Enjoy this great set !! I will definitely buy the set 2 soon :)

I was pretty new to using India ink when I got these, so it felt like quite a leap to get the big set. I wasn’t disappointed though. They would make a beautiful gift, as they are presented so nicely in the packaging too. The colours are vivid and have been fun to use either neat, out of the jar, or diluted with water in refillable pens. I like that these have a dropper and worth paying a bit extra for as it’s very handy. Only downside I’ve found is that the ink has a sheen to it, so if you’ve used it undiluted, it’s not always easy to add colour pencil or pen over the top. If you’re not sure you’ll use them and are totally new to India inks, it might be a good idea to try different types of inks/watercolours before splurging on a big set.
