My son bought this drone with his Christmas money and was incredibly excited to fly it. We followed the instructions carefully, completed the calibration, and used the take-off button as instructed. Initially, the drone lifted and hovered correctly, so everything appeared to be working as promised. However, as soon as we gently pushed the controller to ascend just a few feet, the drone suddenly accelerated away at speed. It flew over the park, over nearby houses, and off across open fields. From that moment on, it did not respond to any controls at all — including the emergency landing button. There was no way to stop it, slow it down, or bring it back. It simply disappeared. This was the very first flight, in suitable conditions, and after following all setup procedures. This was not misuse or inexperience — the drone was clearly faulty and completely uncontrollable. A product that can fly away instantly and ignore all commands is not safe, not reliable, and certainly not fit for purpose. My son is absolutely gutted, and as a parent it’s incredibly frustrating to see £50 of his own money wasted on something that failed immediately. The product promised a stable, controllable flight experience but delivered the opposite. I would strongly caution other buyers, especially parents purchasing this for children. Based on our experience, this drone cannot be trusted.

I received, unpacked and fully charged my new HS 165 quadcopter and controller yesterday afternoon. This little gem is my first quadcopter and this morning was my maiden flight. This thing is crazy fun to fly even for a rank beginner. The instructions are fairly straight forward and walking through the pre-flight setup was as easy as 1, 2, 3, (4, 5, 6). I attached my Smartphone running the HS app and the image sent from the quadcopter's camera was really quite good. Being a newbie, I used the One Key takeoff/Landing button to start and end the flight which worked like a charm. I live on the edge of a bluff and there is always a bit of wind. This morning's breeze was around 10 mph but the HS 165 was easy still easy to keep reasonably steady with only minor adjustments on the Joysticks. The HS 165 was very responsive, very maneuverable, not near as loud as I thought it would be and plenty fast enough even though I did not open it up full throttle. The app interface was very good aw well. I have ordered a 32gb micro card and intend to practice flying and taking photos/videos over the weekend. My ratings on the Battery life and Durability is just a placeholder at this point because I haven't run down the battery or crashed (yet). The unit feels very durable however. I will update this review as I learn more about it and get some photos/videos I can post with it. UPDATE: Aug 12, 2019 I enjoy this quadcopter every time I fly it and I've been flying it practically every day since I got it. I no longer use the one-key takeoff/landing button on the controller because it's just very simple to do using the controller sticks. Once the initial setup is done, subsequent pre-flight setup consist of 4 easy to remember steps. Taking photographs/videos is as easy as pressing a button and the quality is quite good for such a small unit. I often change the flight speed just to test it's capabilities and I've been pushing it further and further out to test it's range. Several times, I've pushed it out or up to where I can't see it but returning using the camera view on the connected phone attached to the controller makes it easy to get back to the landing without problem. The unit remains responsive. I've found no negatives to the quadcopter itself. The only relative cons have to do with the phone application. Parts, such as the video review screen, have not been translated to English but there are only 3 options and it was easy to figure out their function through quick trial-and-error. All other features of the app are pretty straight forward and I'm sure they'll get better with future releases of the app. More testing to come but as of this moment, I'm extremely pleased with the HS 165 and would highly recommend it.

After researching several different drones, i decided to buy this one, the Holy Stone HS110G.... it was given as a gift from my mother to my son. The directions and assembly were decent and easy. I love the fact that it has a return to home feature, and Auto takeoff and landing. My son is 10 years old, and this is his first drone. The app is simple to use, and the picture quality is great. CONS: My only complaint so far is the batteries..... the kit comes with 2 batteries, which have approx 10-13 min of run time each, which is not horrible.... but to charge the batteries, they need to be in the drone.... the drone is the charger. This is very inconvenient. I saw on Holy Stones website that there is a Charging Hub, with room for 2 Batteries, but Amazon says it is Unavailabe, and not sure if it will become availabe. I noticed that other models offer a USB plug port on the battery itself, this is not an option with these batteries. Overall, i feel this is a great choice for a kid/teen/adult first drone.

** Original review: This is false advertising. The company significantly changed this product offering but did not change the description. I assume cost-cutting. The item comes with only one battery - it says two on here. Pretty useless without an extra battery. They carrying case has also been eliminated. Carrying it around with out a case is a recipe for damage. Returning the product - I can get a similar drone with extra batteries and carrying case.*** So - that happened. I was contacted by a customer rep from the company and offered replacement with 2 batteries and a case, as originally advertised. And yes, it was delivered as promised. Test fpre bhis is great customer service - very responsive. Anyway, once I got the replacement drone, I set it up relatively easily. Tried around the yard. It was a cold and windy day - not the best for drones. But this drone - a bit shaky in wind - did quite well and it is easy to control. The quality of the video is excellent when seen on an iPhone. Very high quality and clear. For me, this is an excellent drone for beginners if you want to practice and learn how to effectively use a drone. This drone has all features of more expensive drones - the difference will be in ruggedness and construction. Excellent drone for beginners at a great price.

Purchased for a 10 year old, quick learning curve with the features built into unit. Great service from Holy Stone in providing solutions to one of the motors that was not providing the correct lift. Prompt reply and follow up and excellent solutions. would recommend this unit as a beginner drone.

I was a big fan of the Holy Stone HS160 folding drone and was excited when I learned that they were coming out with a new and improved updated version called the HS165. Its larger, heavier and more powerful than the HS160 and has larger 7.4 V 880 mAh Li-Po battery. Since the new HS165 is slightly larger and heavier than the HS160 it is more stable in the air and the larger battery allows extra flight time. It does take about 2 hours to charge but thats about normal. It has a nice camera on it that shoots at HD1920×1080p with a 90 degree field of view. You will need to buy a memory card as one is not included. As I mentioned this is a folding drone and thats AWESOME! Its small and you can fold it up and throw it in your knapsack and take it anywhere easily. I like that as I do have some big drones like the HS100 and the Yuneec Q500 which you have to put in a case as big as a suitcase to take it anywhere and its not light like this. This drone can be taken anywhere easily. The transmitter has an internal battery (no need to buy any) . It takes about an hour to charge the transmitter and that will last for many flights. You can fly at a max height of 400 feet and a distance around 1,000 feet. I'm getting around 12-15 minutes flight time on a charge if not flying to aggressively. The drones got pretty good power for its size. I put it on high speed and love playing in the wind. Get a good tail wind and this thing gets going FAST! A real nice addition to this drone was that it has GPS. You can calibrate, set your parameters and take off. If battery gets low it will fly up to what you set it at and return back to its original location of takeoff and land. Even if the battery is not low and you lose sight of it and get uncomfortable you can simply push the return to home and it will. Thats a great peace of mind for new flyers. The drone has altitude hold which makes flying easy along with one touch take offs and landings. I like that feature. There is an app that you can download to your phone and with that you can also control your drone. You can plot your flight path, set it for follow me mode and also do a circle fly around you or another object. It does have headless mode but I do not use that feature and have not tried it. I've loaded some photos comparing it to the HS160 so you can how they are. HS165 weighs 6 7/8 ounces or 5 ounces without battery.HS165 weighs 6 7/8 ounces or 5 ounces without battery.
