Does this nas come assembled and ready to use, or require assembly with purchase of power supply, motherboard, and other accessories?

It does come fully assembled, but yes you will still need a sfx power supply and the rest of the components. The only parts the come apart is the top and rear fan mount.

Does it have enough space to install M2 on the back of the motherboard?

Yes an M.2 drive will fit on the back of the motherboard in this case assuming it does not have a heat sink on the M.2 drive.

What is the difference between this and the N1?

The primary difference is just the form factor. The N2 has the benefit of having a magnetic front flap to be able to quickly add or remove drives without removing the whole case like you need to do with the N1.
