Great retro movie to add to your collection, you’ll see some familiar bad guys and good old Stallone kicking butt, worth adding to your 80s collection.

I haven’t watched this movie since my 20s, COBRA was released in 1986 and it was great to watch it again in 4K. After watching it I now realise while Sylvester Stallone married Bridget Nielsen. It was a great movie for its time and it still is, plenty of action and violence.Definitely worth a watch.

This is a cop movie full of action n violence and hardcore lines at a time when voilent movies were considered controversial and this 80 cult classic . If u love Stallone n 80’s this good movie and 4k look amazing n sound is great . Glad to own this gem

Stars. George P. Cosmatos and Sylvester Stallone make a movie that is everything right and wrong about 80’s action movies. Loosely based on Paula Goslings’ Novel, Fair Game, Stallone wrote the script and stars as the title character, Cobretti. The movie follows an elite member of the LAPD, Marion Cobretti, who is only summoned when they need him. In typical fashion he doesn’t follow the rules to get things done. When a model and businesswoman (Brigitte Nielsen) witnesses a murder by a group called the New Order and lead by The Night Slasher, it’s up to Cobra to protector her and rid the world of the bad guys. As the story goes, Stallone was cast for Beverly Hills Cop (1984), a role later given to Eddie Murphy. Stallone wanted to make the move more action-oriented and less comedic. The studio rejected the idea for being too expensive and Stallone left the movie. He went on to make Cobra. The original version was rated X for graphic violence and was edited down to get the R-rating. After the release of the hit, Top Gun (1986), Stallone and Casmatos were afraid that it would be overshadowed. They again edited the move down from two hours to an hour and half, so they could get in an extra screening each day. While Cobra was critical failure, being sighted for poor plotting, dialogue, gratuitous violence, and rehashing action cliches, the movie still killed in the box-office. They did rip off Terminator (1984) with the use of the red site on the fun and factory end battle, with a very iconic ending of Cobra handing the The Night Slasher on a hook. It was nominated for six Razzie Awards; Worst Picture, Worst Actor (Sylvester Stallone), Worst Actress (Brigitte Nielsen), Worst Supporting Actor and Worst New Star (both for Brian Thompson) and Worst Screenplay. The movie has since moved onto cult status for being awesome 80’s schlock with quotable lines and cheesy (but memorable) action scenes. Director Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling are fans, which is why Gosling’s character in Drive (2011) had a toothpick in mouth similar to Cobra’s matchstick. It’s definitely one of those 80’s movies that is so bad that’s good. Like any classic horror movie or bad Cannon Production of the period, it’s mindless fun that’s worth watching.

Great movie

freaked me out as a kid. I very vividly remember spending the night at a school buddy's house in 5th grade, and his Dad rented this for us. We ate pizza and played video games, and then we watched this at night, right before lights out. Ha. Not exactly a kid's movie, and it was a little bit different back then. I remember the scene of the "meeting" the bad guys are having with everyone clanging their axes together in some sort of ritual, and I was just like, "Yikes!" Haha. Was happy to pick this up on 4K and watching it many years later, it's pretty tame by today's standards, violence wise, but it's still an effectively creepy movie that will have you rooting for Cobretti to take down the bad guys, they're evil scum here. Very creepy main villain in this movie, the guy just looks the part. And of course, he had one of the baddest looking weapons in movie history. I was very surprised to hear years later that this movie was actually a huge box office success. Surprised there was no sequel. Nice presentation here of an 80's classic, but very dark, action flick.

Opinions on this movie seem to be divided, but I quite like it. Director George.P. Cosmatos has directed many excellent action and suspense films, but this one, perhaps because it was written by Sylvester Stallone, is a film by Stallone, for Stallone, and once you understand that it's essentially a “film to enjoy Stallone,” it makes quite a bit of sense. There's a scene where he grabs the reporter who's waving his "basic human rights" around by the collar and yells at him, which is quite refreshing. The whole thing feels more TV-friendly, though. It would have been better if the actress playing his co-star had been a little smaller or more frail. However, this is a film that I would recommend to anyone who wants to clear their mind and enjoy a movie in their spare time. That “Cobra” has been revived in stunning 4K high definition by Arrow. Naturally, the light reproduction and shadow detail rendered in 12-bit Dolby Vision are magnificent in every scene. If you're a Starlon fan, this is a must-have. I highly recommend it.

J'ai constaté que sur la face avant de la pochette était écrit en anglais alors que sur la photo de l'annonce tout est en français, je trouve cela dommage de mettre une photo qui ne correspond pas tout à fait à ce que j'ai reçu, j'aurais aimé avoir la pochette en français. Concernant le film c'est très bon et l'audio et en 2.0 pour la piste son français. Lu avec lecteur blu-ray et visionner sur TV UHD 55 pouces.

Stallone's best movie - tied with Rambo series - and nice to replace the VHS copy I loaned out and never got back. An old friend returned.
