Review: Better than I expected!!! I've already made a simple fire cider, which I'm really excited about since my family have been plagued with the crud for months and months and I'm really sick of it (pun intended). I have been interested in herbal medicine ever since covid and keeping my family more natural. I already have a herb garden in my backyard that I use for cooking but after reading this book, I'm absolutely extending it to include some medicinal herbs and flowers. The directions given to make the oils, salves, tinctures, honey, and vinegar are super easy. Everything's broken down in a way that paints a picture for me (which is perfect since that's how I learn) and then you apply those directions to the recipes in that section. The recipes are broken down into sections so what you need is easy to find, and I'm happy about the space at the bottom where I can write my own blends down for later. I get migraines a lot and my kids get car sick so I WILL be putting that to the test this spring!! My first oil will absolutely be oil of oregano! I plan to make a mint-based salve, and start my fermented garlic this weekend. I cant wait to get going on my apothecary!!!! 10/10 for this book. Review: I'm excited to go to lowes this month and start my herbal garden!!! Not only did this book teach me the medicinal properties of herbs, it also shared several ways to introduce them into my cooking. My kids could love, or hate it, but I'm super excited to start.

This book starts off with some history and background, but using the index, you can jump right into the search for specific recipes for tinctures, syrups, teas and more. I am always looking for natural remedies for inflammation, glucose spike mitigation and just general wellness and this one has it all. I really enjoyed the recipes that were specific to stress reduction (I work in a stressful office and manufacturing environment) and have started to use them specifically. I would highly recommend this book for it's price to value.

Initially, I was excited to receive this book, but after reviewing it thoroughly, I felt disappointed. The book promises to be “a modern herbalist guide” teaching how to build a home apothecary and understand herbal medicine with “300+ recipes for natural healing.” However, it only covers basic methods like labeling, harvesting techniques, carrier oils, and different methods available, including teas, syrups, oil infusions, and tinctures. Nice graphics and decent herb summaries that might benefit someone with zero knowledge, but overall a disappointing herbalism guide with inconsistent measurements, vague recipes, and unsafe tincture instructions. While it has nice graphics and basic herb summaries, it’s not suitable for beginners seeking reliable apothecary guidance. Missing important plants and lacks the comprehensive instructions and recipes as promised. Recipes are very inconsistent measurements with vague instructions making several of them unsuitable for safe use. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this book, especially for beginners learning to build a home apothecary. However, I will continue to look for the ultimate Apothecary guide.
