GREAT for keeping kids busy.
Not quite like the original of long ago. The pictures are a lot smaller but the cube opens up so that up to 4 kids can work at the same time. Takes AAA batteries so stock up or better yet, buy rechargeable ones. You might also want to buy extra pegs and pictures. Kids love this!! We set this up as an activity station during a child's party and it went over very well.

So sorry I bought this - an embarrassing gift.
I bought this as a Christmas present for my 5-year-old niece and hoped that she and her 7-year-old brother and other family members would be able to play together since the toy is 4-sided. The first unfortunate design flaw that makes this an impossibility is that there are no non-skid feet so as soon as you try to put a peg in, it slides across the surface unless you are holding on to it firmly - which means you are then in the way of someone else trying to do the same thing. Plus, most 5-year-old arms/hands aren't quite equipped to do both things at once without some resistance. The templates that get attached are made out of a thin plastic so that if it is not lined up exactly right, there is no "fudge-room" to get the peg in (like there was with the old-fashioned paper templates of the original Lite Brite.) The templates themselves are extremely "dumbed down" with most of the template consisting of basic line drawing to show what the picture is and very little actual pegs to light up. I doubt there are more than about 50 pegs - which again means that you can't really fill all 4 sides at once (depending on color, etc.) because you run out of the right colors or of pegs altogether. The only cool feature is the option to have the light on or to have it blink - but it's so frustrating to use it is of little consolation. A terrible disappointment and totally frustrating that I won't be able to return it now that we've tried to use it.

Not as good as I'd hoped
I loved Lite Brite as a kid in the 1970s & 1980s, but this is not as good as the original. It is cool that you can do four at once so more than one person can play at the same time - crucial with multiple kids. However, it is not as bright as the original, the pegs are difficult to remove and it does not come with a good storage unit. I ended up putting the patterns and pegs in a zip lock and sticking them under the cube. You can't, for example, store it upside down with the stuff inside because of the way the on/off button is on the top, which means it is not flush on the surface and it turns on the light.

This is such a fun lite bright set
This is such a fun lite bright set. My son and his cousins all plaid with it together. The 4 panels extend out so each could have their own. Then when they were all done they pushed the panels back together and enjoyed looking at each others work. It comes with some pegs but I bought an extra set so all 4 panels could be used at once.

Almost Like I Remembered
I bought this for my daughter even though there weren't any reviews posted yet. I worried that it wouldn't be great, based on the many negative reviews of other Lite Brite products. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The four pegboards on this unit slant down instead of being used vertically. That made it easy for my two kids (ages 7 and 4) to easily work. I like that the pictures are smaller because I can remember getting tired when working on the larger unit from the '70s. The pegs insert easily and none of the pegs fell out while we were working. The unit takes 3 AA batteries and makes the pictures glow nicely. I might switch to rechargeable batteries since my DD wants to use it as a nightlight. The downsides- they really should have included another 100 pegs. We were able to complete three sides. We would not have had enough pegs to do all four sides at once. I also wish that they had included more than eight sheets. We'll have to order more ASAP. I'm thrilled with this product and wouldn't hesitate to buy it as a gift. Lite Brite Four Share Cube

Good potential, but not a great product overall.
This product would have been made better by including much more pegs (you can only really complete two squares at a time, from what they give you) and more complicated designs. Just because we wanted a more compact model doesn't mean it should have been this easy- in the dark the image that is made isn't exactly clear as to what it is. My son liked it for a few minutes, and then got frustrated because of the lack of supplies included with this. Disappointing. The only up side is that the idea of the toy is very cute, but it seems to lack follow through.

Very Clever
This little activity is being used by our Kindergarten class, and it is so handy for keeping four little ones busy. It is the same concept as the larger flat screen, but with this one, we can set it on a small table and let four children have lot's of creative fun!

Huge disappointment
Ordered this Lite-Brite for a Christmas gift because I had loved Lite-Brite when I was a child. What I received is NOTHING like what I remember. This toy is poorly made and flimsy. It does not stay together well when the kids are trying to play with it. The lite pegs are hard to push into the slots and extremely difficult to remove (I have to help my youngest.) The pre-designed sheets and blank sheets are made of very thin paper which tears easily and falls off the Lite Brite. Also, a blank sheet can only be used once, not multiple times. I regret this purchase; what a shame that Lite-Brite is no longer an imaginative toy for kids to easily enjoy.
