Great all-in-one security, but the palm reader is a bit picky
I bought this to replace a separate doorbell and lock, and it definitely cleans up the front porch. The 2K video is sharp, and I love that there’s no monthly subscription fee to see my clips. Installation was straightforward and took about 30 minutes with a standard screwdriver. Pros: • No Subscriptions Huge win. Local storage is the main reason I went with Eufy. • Camera View. The 180-degree lens actually lets me see packages sitting on the ground. • Build: The lock feels heavy and secure—doesn't feel like cheap plastic. Cons: • The Palm Reader: This is the headline feature, but it’s not perfect. It works about 85% of the time on the first try. If your hand is at a slight angle or if you’re standing too close, it usually fails and you have to reset and try again. It’s still faster than keys, but not as "instant" as I hoped. • Bulk: It’s a very large unit. If you have a screen door, double-check your clearances because this sticks out quite a bit. It’s a solid upgrade if you want to ditch your keys and your doorbell subscription in one go. Just be prepared to have a little patience with the palm sensor until you learn exactly where it likes your hand to be. Battery life is long

Impressive and great features
Impressed with all the options and features. UI Is a bit confusing tho and I do agree that the hands/vein technology is difficult to get to work. I’m gonna try creating multiple versions of my hands to see if that’ll improve things like I’ve done with the thumbprint one. Actually wishing I had the fingerprint one still. The video mechanism works great and you can choose different lengths to film, which I really like. I did feel that the battery could’ve lasted a bit longer. It lasted about a month before it needed recharging them but the four AA batteries held fine while it was being charged. This was with a lot of people coming in and out though. Np installing to door (although had my handyman do it). NOTE: after putting it together it will have u press a button in the back wheee the battery is and if u already put the cover on np bc it’s super easy to take off. I did have to try connecting a couple of times. If you have issues with this part and it talks about router settings go to your Internet provider settings online or app and change signal to 2.4 only from dual band (2.4 and 5.0) temporarily and then u won’t have a problem.

LOVE IT! Great Upgrade from our Fingerprint Smart Lock!
Replaced our fingerprint-reducing Eufy smart lock. I LOVE the palm reading feature (so much easier, and more reliable than the fingerprint reader, which was causing me grief after 2 years, as it kept failing to recognize my fingerprints). But this new smart lock is amazing, and the palm reading feature seems to work without any problems (knock on wood). Things that I especially like about this: 1. No need to touch the lock (like with the fingerprint reader) 2. The Black color looks much sleeker than the old silver-toned lock we had…PLUS, the black color makes reading the back-lit number pad SO much easier to read (our old lock was silver, with white numbers, and even being back-lit, it was next to impossible to see the numbers, especially in bright sunlight). 3. Love the locks integrated camera & doorbell (allowing us to remove our separate Eufy doorbell camera, which was starting to get annoying in terms of needing to charge it every 6 weeks or so). 4. The doorbell button is easy to recognize - it lights up and has a small bell icon on it (believe it or not, with the basic Eufy doorbell camera, the design is such that the camera lens and the doorbell button are both about the same size and shape, and the button wasn’t marked or labeled — and I can’t tell you how MANY times people came to our door, thought they were ringing the doorbell, but were really smashing their thumb onto the round camera lens! — mademfor funny videos, but not a very effective doorbell if people don’t know where to press) 5. A HUGE added benefit of this model is the long battery life, PLUS the back-up AA batteries that function if the main battery dies (unlikely if you’re paying the slightest attention to your Eufy app)…but more importantly, the AA batteries work while the main battery is being re-charged (so you don’t have to leave your door unlocked all day, like we had to do with the old Eufy lock, because we needed to be able to have people come and go). Overall, I truly LOVE this smart lock, and I expect to get many years of enjoyable use out of it (again, knock on wood!)

Love it
It works great. It is so nice to be able to open the doors without keys or punching in a code. I’m able to unlock it in just a few seconds by holding my hand over the sensor. We’ve programmed it for various family members to help them have access without making a ton of copies of keys. It does need to be tightened after initial install becomes loose for some reason. Easy to connect and set up no issues with battery life

Don’t buy if you expect palm reader to work immediately or don’t mind grainy night vision
I really liked the idea behind this, however the palm vein reader is very finicky and it takes multiple tries before you actually find the sweet spot for it to register your hand. The camera for the front door is slow to react and the picture is no where as clear as my other eufy devices, night vision is horrible and grainy. I have a wired flood light camera that is amazing and the app worked super fast and flawlessly with just that device. Once I added the smart lock and a wireless solar camera the app became ridiculously slow, locks up and takes forever to show notifications or actual live video. I’ve had to shut it down several times just to get it to work again.

Great functionality works flawlessly.
Usually tech like this doesn’t work or doesn’t last as it is designed, but everything about this. Palm reader security lock is truly worth it. It was easy to install. The picture quality is excellent. The voice quality is excellent and it looks great on your door. The ecosystem with the rest of the cameras made by Eufy are great. The best quality that I have ever used it is well worth the price. I highly recommend.

The eufy FamiLock S3 has been a huge upgrade for me, especially after returning the Lockin Veno. Assembly was surprisingly simple and frustration-free. Everything fit together intuitively, and the instructions were clear enough that I had the lock fully installed and running in far less time than I expected. What really sets the FamiLock S3 apart from the Veno is the feature set. The responsiveness of the fingerprint reader, the smoothness of the touchscreen, and the overall build quality all feel a step above. The app integration is cleaner too, with faster updates and more reliable notifications. After dealing with connection hiccups and slower response times on the Veno, this lock feels like a breath of fresh air. Another big draw for me was eufy’s strong security reputation. Their focus on privacy and local data processing gave me a lot more confidence in choosing a smart lock that would actually protect my home without sending data who-knows-where. It’s reassuring to know the company behind the product takes security seriously. Overall, the FamiLock S3 has been easy to set up, easy to use, and packed with thoughtful improvements over the lock it replaced. I’m genuinely glad I made the switch.

So far I’m very impressed and it’s a very good product. The App was easy to setup . I had a bit of a problem with the key unlocking door but I think I got it sorted out. I haven’t set up the the palm entry yet, but soon I love the fact that it comes with a rechargeable battery and has a backup as well. I highly recommend this Lock.

This is a great lock. Easy to install and set up. It seems to work very well. Recognizes our family palms and not others that I've tested with. I like the auto lock after a certain amount of time and you can define a time frame to do this so throughout the day you are not constantly unlocking the door. It only uses the key it came with. Would be nice if it can be rekeyed to match the other house doors. I have not tried to get spare keys made yet so not sure that is an option. The button that covers the key hole and emergency power plug keeps falling open. This is also the doorbell button so it tends to be used regularly and just does not fit tight after you open it. DON'T OPEN IT IF YOU DONT HAVE TO! LOL

I really wanted to love the Eufy Lock S3 — palm vein recognition, multiple unlock methods, and a sleek design all sounded great. Unfortunately, real-world use has been disappointing. The connectivity is unreliable. The lock frequently shows offline in the app, notifications are delayed or sometimes never arrive, and remote access can be hit or miss. For a smart lock, that’s a major downside. The palm vein recognition, which is supposed to be the standout feature, is inconsistent. Sometimes it works instantly, other times it fails multiple times depending on lighting or hand position. That’s frustrating when you’re standing at your door trying to get in. Another big issue is that this lock is not well-suited for single doors. The design and alignment of camera especially at night times video/image quality is so poor. The price fluctuates very often, which is also annoying. One day it’s listed at a premium price, then it drops significantly, then goes back up again. That makes it hard to justify buying something that already feels inconsistent.

Really like the rechargable battery feature with backup AAA's and the camera is good. But it's louder than my new Aqara U100, slower, lacks NFC unlock capability via homekit. Also, Aqara sells a dedicated hub M2 that makes this thing really stable to use remotely. Also U100 is way cheaper, looks better imo and just works effortlessly. The fingerprint sensor just works and fast, even with people that have poor fingerprints. Sorry, I like Eufy but this is not that great.
