Works for different applications like plugging an outdoor umbrella pole.
Believe it or not, I did not use this for the intended purpose. It is not plugging plumbing but instead I used it to block off the tube for my outdoor umbrella when the top has been removed to keep it from filling up with water and rusting the pole. It is a hassle to find a place to put the heavy base when I am not using the umbrella, so I have been leaving it in the table and blocking the top with a plastic disc and taped it to the pole. Looked rather redneck no doubt and tape doesn't last long. I stumbled on this trying to search for something I could use to plug the tube when the umbrella is removed, and I must say it works perfect. It fits tightly and is easy to insert and to remove when I do want to use the umbrella. It has been outside in salt air for months and shows no signs of degradation. It was worth every penny and will prolong the life of my umbrella pole, save my back from dragging the base around and that makes me happy!

Fits tight and holds back the water!
I had an older plug that worked it's way loose over the winter, and began to leak. I lost a good bit of water before we caught it, then retightened it, but it would not seal good. The old plug was a shorter plug. Ordered these and replaced the old one. Held up over the winter freeze with no leakage. On season 2 now, no leakage.

Peefect for pool closing
When we started to close the pool, we realized that our rubber stoppers were old and not holding, so I bought these quickly online. They were exactly what we needed. The plastic wing nut is bigger and makes it easier to twist, however, I do worry how it will last because it's not stainless steel. I bought s.s. nuts just in case.

Seals off Plumbing Pipe Lines so no water can get through
Pros: - Practical and Easy to Use - Good Rubber Seal Tight Fit - Stops Water from getting through Cons: - None Identified so far Recently had a HVAC water leak for which water was backing into my apartment from a pipe blockage in the basement. These rubber pipe plug seal offs are handy in situations where you need to cut off water from entering or leaving a pipe. Have a few in my utility closet in case the situation calls for them.

Barely fits a 1 1/4" hole.
Just barely fits a 1 1/4" in hole. Using it to plug up an open spigot end of a rain barrel.
