Took me a few years but it was finally time to upgrade or replace my old phone. I've never been in a rush for the newest gadget, just the best one on a budget at the time I need it. One downside to shopping for new Android phones is there are so many choices, and not all are great, sticking with more well known brands helps. Before landing on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro I recently tested and used — iPhone 12, i25, and a Huawei Nova 5T: Out of those my old Huawei was by far the best performer in speed an reliability, but alas the battery was starting to fail and the old days of replacing it myself weren't an option. I've been using this Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G for about three weeks now and am pleasantly surprised how excellent of a phone it is and especially for the price. Tested with simple game, no stalls or stutters like many other slower operating phones. Tested range around home, all good on Wifi and cellular signal. PROS: - Processor speed runs super smooth and fast, no lags or stalls between launching and closing apps. Games run supper smooth with no fragmented or skipping frames. CPU: Octa-core processor, up to 2.5GHz GPU. - Crystal AMOLED screen with curved edges is bright, vivid, detailed and smooth with contrast, far superior to OLED and easy on eye strain and adjustable settings of course. - Nice OS, Android 15 running on Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0.6.0 - This a huge plus as they run harmoniously together, lots of options and customization control typical to Android. Only thing odd is getting used to double clicking to collapse or close apps and swiping right instead of up to take it out of the open queue. Back button is also on far right, when it seems like it should be on the far left as it points left. - Solid build, feels sturdy, no loose parts, not too heavy, not too light. - Massive 200 MP main camera, takes brilliant, vivid detailed photos, am a pro photographer and these are some of the nicest I've seen from a phone camera thus far. - Efficient battery at 5500 Milliamp Hours will keep a standby charge for days and usage charge quit long, even if gaming. Also quick charges super fast on a high wattage adapter. - Good speaker volume and internal volume control. - Strong antenna, good Wifi pickup and range, good cellular range. - Works on GSM, no problem swapping in my old TMobile SIM card. - Plenty of customization with layout, colors, wallpapers, tone, volume, alerts, ringtones and sounds. - Easy and fast Android transfer for all apps, contacts, messages and photos. CONS: - None really. Comes with flat matte black plastic case that's nothing special. I upgraded to a clear one with a rotating kickstand. - Not a lot of unique color choices in the actual body of phone, I went with black but kind of wish I would have gone with the two toned purple since I'm using a clear case. SUMMARY: Best phone yet. Can't beat it for the price. Android is easy and reliable and very customizable. Great for calls, texts, photos and gaming. Easy integration and usage with apps.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro surprised me from day one. It is very fast, the screen looks super fluid and bright, and the battery lasts practically all day even with constant use. The camera takes very sharp photos, especially during the day, and the videos also turn out pretty well for this price range. The design is elegant, light and feels very good in hand. It does not stop, it opens apps fast and 5G works perfectly. For what it costs, it honestly offers a lot more than I expected. If you are looking for a beautiful, powerful and accessible cell phone, this model is an excellent choice. I would buy it again.

It seems like a good phone... I'm taking one star off because there is no earbud port, yet I can still use it as a remote for my TV.. I'd rather have the port, but overall it seems pretty cool.

This is a great budget phone. Brand new and exactly as described. Battery is great and it's a very sharp screen. It does lag under load but that's expected from this chipset. As an iPhone user this is a great backup phone. I only need it to use as a router hotspot for hotels/cruise ships. I may look into a phone with the snapdragon chipset due to the lack of custom roms.
