I love planting and watching things grow. My small apartment is full of wonderful plants. Just added these nice herbs to the decor 😀 and because these are edible having them to be EBT eligible is a plus. Nice packaging, easy instructions and a great project to do with kids. Also fun for grown-ups. Can't wait to harvest and enjoy. UPDATE: May 22, 2022 My herbs are not growing 😢 I purchased tomatoes and planted same day. Nothing seems to be happening with my herbs.

Product seemed cheap and comes with barely any seeds. Nothing grew for me but cilantro and I’ve been landscaping since I was a kid and have grown several herbs and plants. I also have a plant light and misted them properly every other day with light mist. When contacting Amazon about this simply to get new seeds sent to me or a refund/replacement, Amazon could not return or help and when I asked to be directed to the seller they simply said “it is us”, “we are the seller” but then told me to contact the seller for Assitance once I demanded a phone call for assistance. Cause that makes sense. Maybe if they got people that spoke English and understood English and problems, they could’ve helped me but instead they were absolutely the opposite of helpful. Long story short, save your time and money and just go to Wal-Mart and get seeds and soil for $10 and have the ability to grow 50 times what this kit provides for less money. You’re welcome. I like this product, but I don't know if I like getting it through Amazon vs local pickup. The garden kit was shipped via Amazon hand-off to USPS and in a bubble wrap envelope. It arrived with the packaging torn and crunched up, and loose dirt in the envelope. The contents inside were fine, but if I had ordered this as a gift, this would have been no good. If it had been boxed and 1-carrier delivery, it would have arrived in better condition. The kit itself is pretty cool, simple design. Three sealed and labeled cans of dirt, three seed packets, a full-color instruction card, and a little printout of the company's origin/mission statement/charity efforts. So, my opinions: I'm not a big fan of the can planters aesthetic-wise, but my 15 year old tells me this is in style right now, and you could always decorate the cans or line them up in a long decorative basket. The herbs included are mint, basil, and cilantro. I would like to see other options. These 3 herbs don't go together, and I rarely use basil. I would have liked to see a set like "Italian," with the basil and other like-herbs, like oregano. The mint would make more sense with other "dessert" herbs, like lavender and lemon balm. Maybe parsley, chive...I hope they expand this line. The shipping issues aside, this is a good beginner's kit (I know mint and cilantro are prolific, easy growers,) and would make a nice classroom, hostess, or new gardener gift.

Updated review. Changed to ⭐⭐⭐. Cilantro was doing great then the next died 2 and unfortunately I was unable to save any of it. Mint turned out to not be mint but lemon balm. And basil is still doing great. Super easy & Had herbs within 5 days of planting. I do have a few concerns which is why I only gave ⭐⭐⭐⭐... The cilantro has mushrooms growing in it (2 so far). Im not sure if something I should keep, removed, or dispose of the whole container. 2/3 also have tiny little bugs. Again not sure if it's something that non harmful to self and plant. Just noted.. other then that I really enjoyed this kit and in a few months plan on making a video based on my experience growing it.

I followed the instructions precisely and my cilantro and basil sprouted beautifully! My cilantro is now happily transplanted to a larger pot and thriving. Rather than thinning my basil I will shake some off and re-pot so I have several plants. That’s tomorrow! I have to score this product a 4/5 though because my mint never even tried to sprout. :-(

I've been getting Back to the Roots grow products for a few years now, and to say I love them is an understatement! There's something special about learning to grow your own food products that is simply priceless! Harvesting foods and herbs that you grow yourself is so satisfying :)) The instructions are easy to follow, and the results are amazing! 10/10 recommend this and all the Back to the Roots products!

My daughter's and I enjoy growing these indoor together. Pop the top, water, and wait to sprout....SUPER EASY!

I have bought this kit twice. The first time was a fail and I emailed customer service. I went through an inconvenient process of emailing for more seeds. After providing screenshots I received new seeds. The new pack of seeds didn't grow but I thought it was due to my lack of experience. Its been about a year and I have gotten better at gardening so I decided to try this kit again. I am still waiting for the seeds to sprout but as I was watering them I noticed all 3 cans were covered in tiny lil white mites. I am disappointed at this point because now I am worried for the safety of my other plants. I have been sharpening my gardening skills with a water garden system. I wont name the brand but Back to the Roots is such poor quality in comparison. I do like the mushroom kits tho. Ive tried pretty much all their products and the mushrooms are the best. I hope they get their quality up to par because the business concept has great potential. Ive gotten experience but my results have been terrible. 12/28/2022 Update: 2 out of 3 cans have sprouted but they also have mushrooms growing right along with them. Ill do another update later and actually post pictures of results.
