I used to replace an older mechical hard drive in a Dell laptop that was being migrated to Linux Mint - that way I could keep the old drive and pop that in a USB caddy in case I needed to access some files on it and the new Mint install would benefit from SSD speeds. It all fitted perfectly and the new install went perfectly. In use the machine has been absolutely fine to date with the usual benefits of larger storage capacity and also much faster read and wrote times. Its been a major part of rehabilating an older laptop that was not compatibel with Windows 11 for not much money at all.

With the recent rise in chip prices, it's hard to find a 2Tb m2 drive for under £100, but this one was £96; and MSI is a perfectly respectable brand. Being a PCI gen 4 drive, it's probably not the latest/greatest, but at least it's a TLC drive, not QLC. And since, for now at least, it's going to be in an external caddy, speed is not an issue. It'll probably end up as a secondary onboard drive in my new machine (2026?). The usage guarantee, at 640 TBW, is not great, but it's more than any normal user is likely to need and fairly standard these days. It also has no heatsink, which I really wish manufacturers would include separately. Best of all, it formatted out of the box without issues, and worked first time, which is all you can really ask. If anything turns up further down the line, I'll report, but for now it's working exactly as expected.

Top quality, has never let me down, speeds as advertised, recommended

I bought this SSD to upgrade an ageing desktop PC I've had for many years, please note this is not a gaming pc. It genuinely feels like I have a brand-new machine, despite the PC’s age. Installation was straightforward; it fitted perfectly into the 2.5" drive bay and was recognised immediately by the system. Coupled with a five-year warranty is a bonus which most others do not offer. All in all, if you have an older computer that’s slowing down or making a noise, upgrading to this SSD is one of the best improvements you can make. It revitalises the performance and delivers a smooth, quiet experience that makes an old PC useful again. Highly recommended.

I bought it when it was on a big sale and was honestly a steal for top tier components. Happy with purchase. I can see that clearance is a big issue in most builds but worked perfectly in mine or cheaper motherboards that don’t come with m.2 heat spreaders. Cooling gen 4-5 SSDs are a must nowadays.

Un producto que se le ve de muy buena calidad, le compre para ponerlo en una caja externa Ugreen y funciona de maravilla además de ir a unas velocidades bastante buenas casi al limite de lo que da mi puerto USB-C del portátil altamente recomendable

💾 Estoy usando el MSI Spatium S270 de 960GB como disco de datos y la verdad es que me ha venido genial para tener mis copias de seguridad, pelis y música sin líos. No es el más rápido del mercado porque es SATA III, pero para este uso va sobrado. Copiar archivos grandes se hace bastante ágil y no tengo que esperar eternidades como pasaba con un HDD. Además, al ser un SSD 2,5" lo puedo meter en cualquier portátil viejo o en la torre sin complicaciones. 🔐 También me da confianza que tenga corrección de errores y que MSI le dé soporte con su software, aunque siendo sincero, yo apenas abro la app. Lo que sí noto es que es silencioso, no se calienta demasiado y me está dando la tranquilidad que buscaba para guardar cosas importantes sin miedo a fallos repentinos.
