Accurate
I complained that the unit was very inaccurate in my initial review. The Manufacturer reached out and offered an updated version of the device. I received it and tested it out against my hard wired units and the temperature was very accurate. I would recommend this product it is excellent and accurate and at a very reasonable price.

Connectivity and Apparent Charge issues: ***edit****no longer problematic**** Edit ***** see review
****Edit*** Originally a 2 star review, Old Post: Bought two, dissatisfied, Says not connected even when phone shows them connected I rate very low on the ton of Difficulty in connecting, two times taken straight out of charger then in minutes claiming low/dead batteries. Twice relied on an old manual style probe with these malfunctioning. Prime Rib is too expensive to risk with these. Won’t purchase again . ****Edit**** Late review on this after year of frustration, they saw my review and sent email plus express shipping delivered a brand new updated set of these probes. Explained they discovered the issues after several comlaints and just sent the replacements within minutes of seeing the review. Thank you and sure wish there were more companies like these folks.... I'm upgrading the review from 2 stars to 10 if I could, meanwhile I can at least jump it up to 5...Thank you and highly reccomend this company. New product is much improved. Joe

Good Internal Monitoring, Bad Ambient
A perfect internal temperature monitor when smoking a turkey on a rotisserie. But, did not give an accurate reading on the outside turkey temperature in the oven. Since the oven gives an accurate temperature reading, I didn't mind the inaccuracy of the probe. Ended with a perfectly cooked and delicious turkey.

Absolute garbage product!
Absolute garbage product! Bought this in December '24 for use when using my electric smoker. The app is OK and range is quirky too. Problem I have with it is the battery. I was sure to keep the needle and base fully charged while stored to avoid damaging the batteries, but in less than a year and only 4 times used, the needle won't hold a charge - it's dead! It's out of warranty and I wasted $75. I'm just going to use my wired temp probe from now on. All of these wireless thermometers are garbage.

Excellent customer service.
Update: I'm rotisserie a prime rib for My New Year's (01/05/2026). So far I'm loving this. I'm comparing another brand but the BBQOVN thermometer and charger is my favorite one. It conveys all necessary data on the booster. I'm impressed and the temperature between the two thermometers and I trust the Bbqovn . I like yhe presentation and easy to understand without a bunch of locations 5 clearly identified buttons intellectually fit to the task.Very easy to use. I highly recommend. I'm very pleased. After my thermometer failed I contacted the company and they replaced it with an upgraded model. I am pleased with customer service. Highly recommended.

Great build quality, app is improving
Update: The current version of app, version 2.8.8, was updated a few days ago. The new version has had a significant feature upgrade: the ability to set a low and high alarm for the ambient temperature in the cooker. This new ambient temp limit allows you to receive an alert if the cooker gets too hot or too cold. This makes the app much more useful. Unfortunately the app still has issues with running in the background and not sounding alarms when running in the background of your device. **************************************************** I have used this meat thermometer one time so far and I like where this product is going. The thermometer feels well made. It has seven temperature sensors - six in the body and one in the handle. The body sensors provide the meat’s temperature, and the one in the handle is for the ambient temperature. The base unit also feels well made. The thermometer holds securely into the base. Connecting the thermometer to the app and Wi-Fi in my home was simple and quick. I just removed the thermometer from the base and the BBQOVN app detected the thermometer and everything paired with no issues. The Wi-Fi feature of this wireless thermometer is great as I was able to be upstairs on the other side of my home and still monitor the temperature with no issue. I cooked some meat in my smoker using this thermometer. I also used a wired 4-probe meat thermometer to compare temperatures. I compared temperatures throughout the cook and found a few differences in temperature. The sensors in the meat read about 3 degrees lower than my wired thermometer - I don’t think this is an issue as the two thermometers were not in the exact same place in the meat. I did have an issue with the ambient sensor – it read about 70-80 degrees lower on average than my wired thermometer. I realized after the cook that I had pushed the thermometer too far into the meat and the cold meat was affecting the sensor in the handle. I should have had about ½ inch of the body showing outside the meat. There is a line in the body showing where to stop pushing it into the meat. Regardless of the ambient temp issue, the internal meat temp was fine for my cookout and the meat came out perfect. My only issue with this thermometer is the BBQOVN app. I feel that no matter how good a device is made, the quality of the interface (in this case the BBQOVN app) greatly affects the overall user experience. In the version of the app I used for my test cook, there are very limited features. You can only set the goal temperature for the meat and the sound of the alarm. The app has all the USDA recommended cooking temperatures to choose from for each type of meat and doneness. Or, you can customize the goal temperature. And that is it. Overall, I found the app to be very lacking for the price point and build quality of the thermometer and base. Some of the issues I found in the app include the following: - You are guided to choose the type of cooker you are using, but that doesn’t seem to change any of the settings or options nor the icons displayed. - I found the various interfaces to change temperature settings were a bit clunky to use. - The app asked to run in the background. I think this is so you can use your phone for other things. It looked like the app restarted when I went back to it on two occasions - it brought up the prompts when you start the app, but was still tracking the cook. - The app didn’t sound the alarm when the target temperature was reached. It was running in the background at the time. When I restarted the app, the alarm sounded. One key feature that I found missing in the version of the app I tested is the ability to set an ambient temperature range for the cooker, and then get an alarm if the cooker goes outside these limits (too hot or too cold). The thermometer has the sensor in the handle to provide and track against this data. For the price of this thermometer, I expected a lot more refinement and features in the app. I look forward to a future version of the app with more features. If the app is updated with more features, I’ll update my review.

I've been using this wireless WiFi meat thermometer for a few weeks now, and it's been quite useful for my cooking needs. The setup process with the app was straightforward, and the thermometer itself is sleek and easy to use. One of the best features is that it’s accurate—I tested it alongside another known reliable thermometer, and both readings were within a degree of each other. This accuracy is crucial when you're trying to ensure your meat is cooked just right. However, there are a couple of drawbacks. The app could use some improvements. It feels a bit clunky at times, and I experienced occasional connectivity issues when switching between devices. These weren’t major problems, but they did add a bit of frustration. Additionally, the charging base is a bit larger than I expected, which might be an issue if you have limited counter space. Overall, this thermometer does its job well and has made my cooking more precise and enjoyable. Despite the minor issues with the app, it’s a solid choice for anyone looking to upgrade their meat thermometer.

I recently set out to find a reliable wireless meat thermometer for my cooking adventures, and let me tell you, it was a game changer. This thermometer is incredibly versatile; it can be used both inside an oven and on a BBQ. In the past, I’ve often relied on traditional thermometers, only to pull them out of a big cut of meat and discover that it needed more time in the oven, resulting in overcooked meat more often than not. The main issue was that I could only see the temperature at the tip of the thermometer. With this new device, there’s no guessing involved. It features seven sensors that provide temperature readings from multiple layers of the meat, which is incredibly helpful. If I notice that the center has reached the ideal temperature while the inner part is still slightly undercooked, I know it’s time to take it out of the oven. The meat will continue cooking for a few minutes even after being removed, which is perfect for achieving that ideal doneness. One important thing to note is that you need to use an app on your phone to read the temperature. Initially, I thought this might be a downside, but I’ve actually come to appreciate it. Since it connects to my home Wi-Fi, I can monitor the temperature from anywhere in the house without having to keep opening the oven door. It operates on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections, which is a nice upgrade from the typical 2.4GHz used by many devices in this category. Plus, because it uses Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth, I don’t have to keep my phone near the thermometer. However, I can see that this thermometer might be challenging for those who aren't very tech-savvy. It requires proper setup before use, which could be a hurdle for some people. Additionally, it does require careful insertion into the meat, which can be tricky with certain cuts. The packaging is impressively designed; it took me a moment to figure out how to open the outer box, and the inner packaging was just as clever. Everything has its place, and they even provide wrapping paper inside—though you have to open the box to access it! One minor drawback is that I’m unsure how to tell if the thermometer is charging or fully charged. Setting it up was straightforward; I downloaded the app from Google Play for my Android phone, and it paired with the thermometer without any issues. So far, it seems to be working well, but I’ll update this review if I encounter any problems down the line. That said, it’s a bit pricey—around $200—which might be a bit much for those who aren’t tech-savvy. As for its reliability and durability, only time will tell. Despite those concerns, I’m very happy with this wireless thermometer and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to up their BBQ game!

Pros: - Accurate temperature readings - 7 independent temperature sensors that can be read simultaneously - Easy app installation and no registration needed to use the app - Reliable connection with no disconnection issues - Useful cooking manuals in the app - App can monitor multiple thermometers simultaneously Cons: - Not a fast read-out thermometer - Probe diameter a little thick at 5.5mm - In “Professional” Mode in which all sensors’ temperature readings are shown, the reading of the probe tip is truncated - Orange part of probe can't contact open fire directly - No hard power switch on booster The BBQOVN WiFi Wireless Meat Thermometer with 7 Sensors (Yellow & Medium) is of decent build quality. The BBQOVN app is easy to install and the thermometer works very well as described. I am very delighted. There is no need to register the product before using the app which is great. I just signed in as a guest. However, registering the product appears beneficial because the warranty will be extended. One will need to register within 1 month of purchase to get this deal. The biggest selling point of this product is the use of 7 independent temperature sensors distributed along the probe, not just on the probe tip. Six are meat temperature sensors and one is an ambient temperature sensor. The probe communicates with the booster via low-power Bluetooth. The booster communicates with the phone via wifi. This setup allows a much longer range and reliable monitoring of the cooking process when compared to a Bluetooth-only setup. It has been very reliable for me and I did not have any disconnection problems during hours of testing. This makes me very happy. The wireless thermometer is very accurate and it matches the reading of my calibrated fast-readout thermometer exactly. However, the thermometer under review is not a fast-read-out thermometer. It takes about 10 seconds for the first reading and reaches the correct reading in about another 15 seconds. Therefore, this thermometer should not be used to perform quick temperature checks. This thermometer is designed to monitor the progress of cooking which takes at least a few minutes. The ambient temperature reading seems to be lower than what my oven reports but at the end, the internal meat temperature is the critical one. The orange part of the probe remained intact at an oven temperature of 400F. I like the Professional mode in which all the temperatures of the 7 sensors are displayed. This gives me a full picture of where the cold and hot spots are, in addition to the oven temperature. The General mode is based more on the sensor with the lowest temperature while the Fast mode is based on the sensor with the fastest temperature change. Since the meat temperature sensors can only take on a maximum temperature of 100C or 212F or they will burn out, therefore all the sensors must be inserted into the meat and no sensors should be exposed to the high oven ambient temperature. This is true for any in-oven probes anyway because you don’t want the probe to incorrectly detect the oven ambient temperature. The wireless probe is only about 3 inches long and therefore should not be a problem to fully insert it into the meat. Another note is that the orange part of the probe cannot be in direct contact with the BBQ fire, according to the user manual so care must be taken when grilling steak on an open fire. There will be fewer problems using the probe inside an oven or in a frying pan. There is no hard power switch on the booster which I don’t like. You turn on the booster by removing the probe and you turn it off effectively by seating the probe on the booster. The app also comes with cooking manuals. For example, you just need to select cooking a steak to medium rare, and the app will give you instructions on how to do it. It will show you the cooking process in terms of temperature and will alert you to stop cooking when the target temperature is reached. It is quite convenient. I placed the probe in a porcelain mug filled with cold water to simulate “Beef Cooking” in the oven. As you can see from the attached photos, the app alerted me when the temperature of the “beef” reached 165F. In conclusion, this is a great wireless thermometer and I love the 6 meat sensors along the probe which gives me a fuller picture of the cooking process. It will come in handy next time I am cooking a turkey or warming up a croissant in an oven. No more need to take out the turkey to measure the temperature and no more cold croissants! I am so happy with my new kitchen tool!

5 out of 5 Stars (5) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ [TL;DR] [QUALITY] (5/5) [VALUE] (5/5) [EASE OF USE] (5/5) [MET EXPECTATIONS] (5/5) [PACKAGING] (5/5) [REVIEW REMARKS] Using a meat thermometer is not an option, it has become an necessity. The cost of meat has risen to a point that we cannot afford a poorly cooked piece of meat, or worse, a destroyed piece. This has happened in the past, but I am confident in the future. Other wireless thermometers have let us down in the past. Dropping signal or disconnecting has caused a few issues for us. With this device using WIFI, and dual band at that (2.4G and 5G) makes this a lot more stable than others. The APP is quite easy to navigate and the accuracy is perfect. So, if you are a techie type, you will giggle using this product. The quality is excellent and I am really impressed by the build of this meat thermometer. I also like the look of it, it just looks cool. Being able to monitor your cooking process from the other side of the house, or if BBQing, being inside the house while the meat is grilling, is a gamechanger. I really dislike babysitting meat cooking (or anything cooking, for that matter), so this allows me to monitor from an APP on my phone and I know when to give the meat attention. Again, gamechanger is a proper description. All in all, the ONLY drawback is the price point. This is really is not a budget friendly device, price at $235 when ordered. With this said, it is all relative and price does not influence everyone when it comes to purchased. Mileage varies in this area, sometimes by a lot. So I am not going to harp on this. The thermometer works as advertised and it is very efficient. I am really glad I had the chance to test this one. It is a keeper and another recommendation. Order with confidence. In the event that experiences change or evolve, updates may be made to this review to address such developments.

This WiFi-enabled meat thermometer offers an impressive combination of advanced features and minor shortcomings, making it a strong option for those serious (hot wheels aesthetics aside) about precision cooking, and wireless convenience. I own several wireless temperature probes and this one definitely has some tricks up its sleeve! The most distinctive feature is the stainless steel probe, equipped with seven sensors: six spaced along a 3-inch section of the probe for internal meat temperature and one on the butt of the handle for ambient temperature. The ambient temperature sensor is missing from some similar priced probes, but is really helpful for longer cooks with thick cuts like roasts or briskets. This ability to monitor ambient temperature really adds an extra layer of protection and insight, helping you maintain consistent cooking conditions in your BBQ, oven, or smoker. Really important to monitor both your internal and ambient temps on important cooks to ensure all goes as planned. Another highlight is its WiFi capability, supporting both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. This gives the thermometer an unlimited range as long as it stays connected to your WiFi router. You can monitor your cook from anywhere, whether you’re inside the house or miles away. Pairing the probe and app is straightforward, and the connection has been solid in tests. The thermometer is housed in a base unit with a funky hot wheels design resembling a retro spaceship or car. The base unit not only charges the probe using a USB-C port but also features a magnetic backing, so you can stick it to your bbq side table, fridge, oven or grill for convenient access and storage. Its 3000mAh rechargeable battery offers long-lasting performance, and the probe itself can run for over 24 hours—perfect for low-and-slow smoking sessions with big meat. Performance and temps were reliable in testing. The listing says it’s accurate within 0.2–0.3 but I can’t speak to that level, but it was pretty spot on. The app allows you to monitor all seven temperature points or focus on the lowest, highest, or fastest-changing temperature among them, depending on your cooking preferences. Lot to love about this wireless temp probe but there are some minor downsides. The probe has a thicker diameter (5.6mm), which is arguably too thick for thinner cuts of meat like steaks or chops. However, it’s arguably moot as those cuts are too thin for any longer cooks so a temp probe would be overkill over an instant read thermometer. For larger items like roasts, pork loins, or briskets, the thickness of the probe isn’t a problem, but you need to ensure you insert it at-least 3” into the meat (on an angle if necessary) to ensure you get a proper read that isn’t affected by the ambient temp. As for the app, that’s where things get a bit tricky - works well, but lacks polish and features found on some competing name brand thermometers. In comparison this app is a little underwhelming. It includes preset temperatures for various meats and a simple notification system, but it lacks advanced features found in competing apps, such as predictive cooking times. Additionally, running the app in the background can drain your phone’s battery quickly (up to 10% per hour), which could be a bit annoying during long cooks, and requires you to keep your phone plugged in. Final Thoughts: This WiFi meat thermometer excels in accuracy, ease of use, and wireless monitoring, making it a great tool for BBQ enthusiasts and home cooks tackling large cuts of meat. While the app could use more features, the seven-sensor design and WiFi capabilities are major selling points and make it well worth considering. If you prioritize precision and convenience over app bells and whistles, this thermometer is definitely worth considering. If you want predictive time till done, etc.. you might have to look at some competing models but they’ll cost you more.. And do you really need that feature.. Maybe maybe not.
