Amazon Basics Battery Charger for Rechargeable AA and AAA NiMh Batteries – UK Plug, 4-Bay, Black

Having now largely gone over to rechargeable batteries we were looking for a new charger. The old one by a well known manufacturer charged slowly, the batteries got very hot and we needed to pick a time where we’d be around to turn it off when it had charged them. This on the other hand charges both AA and AAA batteries quickly, has an automatic turn off when the charging is complete and even indicates when a battery has failed. It’s small and compact and therefore easy to store. So far we are very impressed and would definitely recommend it.

I’m very happy with this charger. It works reliably and charges my AA batteries surprisingly fast compared to my old one. I also appreciate that it’s not limited to Amazon Basics batteries, it charges my Duracell rechargeables with no issues at all. The included batteries hold a good amount of power and perform well in everyday devices. Overall, it’s a great, practical set for anyone looking for affordable and efficient rechargeable batteries. Highly recommended.

A reasonably priced charger that does the job well, charging batteries at a reasonable speed. Unlike some traditional chargers, you don't have to charge batteries in pairs and can instead charge one battery at a time - which is so much more flexible! That also means you can charge AA and AAA batteries at the same time in any combination which is a small thing, but adds to it's versatility. This is the first charger I have owned with a screen rather than just a charging light - and I couldn't recommend it more. The display is basic, but having a simple indication of how charged a battery (or if it is broken!) is really useful. Overall, the charger is fairly lightweight and basic, but it does exactly it needs to do.

Update: 04/11/2025 Have tried again and after a number of attempts I accept that this charger does charge AAA batteries - hence the update. ========== Purchased to recharge AAA rechargeable batteries. Batteries won’t charge. Reason: +ve and -ve terminals won’t both connect to the charging points due to the shape of the battery chamber. May be ok for AA batteries but untried hence the 3 stars

Cheaper than buying batteries everytime.

It seems like a good product. Let down by the lack of clear instructions. The charger states that slow blinking lights means charging and fast blinking lights means there is a fault. It seems like there is only fast blinking lights and faster blinking lights in reality which will leave you looking for reassurance the product isn’t faulty. The blinking lights as a default indicator are obviously annoying. Perfectly functional but I’d recommend spending a bit more and get one with a clearer charging indicator.

Nice tidy little charger works very well fully charged the batteries so far. I use the Amazon basic batteries very handy for console controllers and small flashlights this battery charger is well worth the money.

This is my review of the "Amazon Basics - Rechargeable NiMh AAA 800mAh 8 Pack + AA 2000mAh 8 Pack, with 8 Bay Battery Charger, No AC Power Adapter, USB C Port" The item arrives in an Amazon lid sealed manufacturer's box. I opened the box and examined the contents. They were brand new. I purchased this product for 2 reasons. The first reason is that the two AA/AAA battery chargers that I have will only charge the same battery type in a set of 2 or 4 so if I want to charge a single battery, I can't (and I need to charge 2 batteries of the same type) or if I want to charge 3 batteries, I can't (and need to charge 4 of the same batteries at the same time). I have some devices which use an odd number of batteries so I wind up recharging 2 batteries when I only need 1 battery for the device or I wind up recharging 4 batteries when I only need 3 batteries for the device. This battery charger will charge a single battery which is great and any number of AA or AAA batteries up to 8 individual batteries. With a few of my electronic gadgets requiring 3 AA batteries or 3 AAA batteries, I was finding that using my old battery charger was somewhat of a nuisance since I would charge 4 batteries but only use 3 of those batteries. I then had 1 recharged battery which is unused. I tested this charger and I have 2 "complaints" with it. The first is that it doesn't include a power adapter. This isn't that big of a deal since I have plenty of power adapters but I thought that I would still mention it. The other issue is that it takes a long time to recharge the batteries. It took over 12 hours to recharge 4 AA batteries. Some of the batteries did recharge earlier but since all 4 batteries were going into the same device, I needed 4 of them to be recharged before using them. All in all, excluding the two complaints I mentioned above, I'm fairly satisfied with the product and the batteries included.

does it get the job done? Yes, but be warned. I gave 4 stars simply cause i had to replace mine with a new one. Charging the 8 AAA no problem. but as soon as you charge more than 2 AA the systems fail check lights come one. Design could be better, cause the flashing LED lights can be confusing. that said, happy to help the world by reducing the amount of batteries we use. Built quality is fantastic, its sturdy and and well laid out, and great for not having a "specific" sequence to follow for charges. Now in regards to the value for money, simple and easy yes. For the cost of a single 20 pack AAs and single AAAs pack you have an good extended savings. Plus Extra batteries are well priced. Filling out my Battery Daddy with these going into the future. Only thing missing from the box was a USD-c Charging block, But we all have those kicking around im sure.
