unique
I wanted Excelsa Coffee Medium Roast Whole Bean Coffee with Excelsa Bean because I like trying different coffee roasters and I am unfamiliar withh the excelsa coffee bean. My first thought is that the beans look smaller than other beans I use. With any new coffee I buy I brew it in different ways to see where the coffee tastes best so I tried it both as espresso and pourover. To be honest I'm not really sure which way I like it best. Both methods it was quite fruity and not super traditional coffee forward. It was smooth with little bitterness. The taste was kind of unique, but not phenomenal by any means. I don't dislike it, but I don't love it either. Overall I think it was worth a try, but not something I'd drink regularly.

A Vietnamese Journey in Every Cup
Having recently fallen in love with Excelsa Philippines coffee (as detailed in my previous review [https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1RZ4W1WIXBRJ7/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0D7JS9TWS]), I was eager to explore more of their offerings. Their Vietnam beans did not disappoint. This coffee possesses a distinct character, with a robust flavor and a subtle smokiness that adds a unique depth. The acidity is lower than the Philippines beans, creating a smoother, more mellow experience. I found myself drawn to the earthy notes and the lingering sweetness. Like the Philippines beans, this Vietnam coffee shines when brewed black. It's a perfect companion for quiet mornings or contemplative afternoons. If you enjoyed the complexity and unexpected nuances of Excelsa Philippines, I highly recommend giving their Vietnam beans a try. They offer a different yet equally rewarding coffee journey.

Tasty, easy brew
This was my first attempt at trying Vietnamese coffee at home. I love them when I'm at a restaurant and was eager to give these beans a try. They are a lighter roast than I am used to, but still flavorful. The brew is smooth with low acidity. The only bug in the coffee is that I didn't anticipate using as much as I have to in order to get the thick, rich flavor I love. So, other than that and given that $18 buys me several cups of coffee at home versus probably 4 cups at a restaurant, I'd call these a good value for the money.

Unique Vietnamese Coffee with Smooth, Bold Flavor
This Excelsa Vietnamese coffee has a strong, fruity, and slightly smoky taste. It's a nice change of pace from typical American coffee, it's not too bitter or acidic. For $20, it's a decent value for the quality, and the lower caffeine is great for afternoon sipping without any late night jitters.

Flavor is a bit complex for me, but the lower caffiene is a nice option
So this coffee is interesting. I really like the idea of a naturally slightly lower caffeine option as it's extremely easy to blow past what would be considered a reasonable amount of caffeine if you like coffee. The beans here are a little smaller than normal which made them easier to grind in my espresso machine. The taste is a little unique here as it's a lot more fruit style notes than there is a roast to it so it honestly isn't my favorite as I really like a deep roast flavor. That being said if you mix it with cream it's a fine coffee option that will let you drink more due to the reduced caffeine content. I feel that the fact it's priced similarly to other beans around this range if you like a more complex flavored roast it's a great value, but if you're just looking for a more basic roast this might not be for you.

Unique Coffee with Distinct Bold Flavor
Unique coffee that comes in a twelve-ounce bag and provides whole beans of a different variety. It is a medium roast with a smooth and complex flavor. The beans are grown in Vietnam and roasted in small batches and has a distinct look that provides more variance in color between each bean. Excelsa beans are a rare species that grows on tall trees rather than small shrubs. These beans are naturally lower in caffeine, which makes them appealing for mindful coffee drinkers. The flavor is notably bold yet tart, and layered with notes of spice, wood, and fruit. It works just as well in different brewing methods such as pour-over, French press, or espresso, allowing you to experience the different nuances compared to other popular varieties like arabica or robusta. Overall, this coffee offers a distinctive taste and a lighter caffeine profile while still being rich and satisfying. It is fresh, thoughtfully produced, and a good choice for anyone looking to explore something beyond the usual coffee varieties.
