Amazing product
First time purchasing and using a oak spiral and it came out amazing. Smell wise it wasn't too smoky out the bag but once it aged in my wine for awhile it packed a punch. Taste is toasty yet hints of vanilla and caramel came into my brew. The spiral has a real dark toast so the dark color transfer into the wine and created a awesome look. Smaller then what I was expecting but that just made it better to add into the wine. I love how simple it is to use and for the price, I will definitely buy again!!!

Happy with the price, and it contributed to a nice and tasty batch of wine we plan to give as a gift.

Half a spiral in a bottle
French Oak - Heavy Toast - Small Spiral (1 gal) Ordered this to add more French Oak finish to Oppidan Smoke + Sea Batch 90 Bourbon. Snapped the small spiral in half and tossed it in a glass jar with 2 cups of bourbon. (Filled the jar, kept what was leftover for later comparison) After 4 hrs at room temp, the color change was noticeable, at 8 hrs the whiskey had taken a considerable amount of color change, at 13 hrs the bourbon had become considerably darker so I thought I’d better taste it. Glad I did! After 13 hrs the bourbon was just where I wanted it to be, If I had gone too much longer or waited another 8 hrs or so it would have been over-extracted. Now I have a gorgeously colored bottle of bourbon, and the flavor profile is more rounded, chocolatey and “old darkly rich woody” flavored. Next time I’ll use a smaller section for a longer period to get a more gradual finish that I can dial in. My only gripe is that these have no redline from the toasting process, they seem to be uniformly toasted all the way through, which actually seems like they might be artificially dyed or flavored by some saturation process. Hopefully a few passes through a spectrometer will reveal that to be true or not.

Make An Everyday Bottle Special
I cut off about a 1" piece and put it in a bottle for about 3 - 4 days. Adds just enough spice to make it interesting without adding a burn.

Potent for bourbon infusion
Came quick, little 4 inch piece. It was in great shape. I used a 1 inch piece for 24hr soak in my 750ml of bourbon made it just right, very potent! I appreciate it
