Smaller than you'd think, but still great
The walls are a little bit lower quality than we expect from schleich, just because they're hollow and made to come apart. The base set is definitely smaller than you picture as well, but overall it's still a fun set. The trap doors and special attacks of the different cubes lead to a lot of imaginative play. With extra cubes added (sold separately) it feels like an adequate size for the larger figures to battle in. Otherwise, with the base set, only the small figures fit.

Amazing set!
My son collects Eldrador figures, though I've always thought the Eldrador line lacked playsets that allowed for a setting to play in. Cardboard boxes only went so far. This set is so perfect! My son has been playing constantly since we got it. It gives him a scenario to play and a stage for all his figures. This set alone is enough to start playing with though--you don't need a whole collection to make it work. But the Eldrador figures are all so great--beautiful, elaborate designs that are a cut above other similar toy lines. I think of them as a premium in quality and cost, but a similar fantasy collectible would be many times the price without the playability. Any Schleich Eldrador toy is definitely worth it (and they do go on sale, so keep an eye out for one). It's quite large, but seems to store well when you take the arena apart. The cubes take up more space, but they're stackable at least. We got a couple other battle cubes, and they fit right into the arena. The cubes aren't large enough for the largest Eldrador figures, like the dragons, but they fit into the arena. I think it was easy to assemble, because my son did it without my help. He can't say enough good things about it. I'm so happy he's happy. The whole Eldrador line is awesome because it's pure imagination--no movie tie-ins or franchises. I'm so glad it's expanding!

An Excellent Starter Pack for this theme
The media could not be loaded. I think we should get the value question right out of the way. You get an impressive amount of hard, high-quality plastic with this for $60. The two included figures are both well sculpted and painted, though they are free of action features and articulation. And, the overall size of the set is good in terms of scale and volume. The add-on sets from Schleich that come with additional figures each include one additional elemental cube section and are half the price of this set. Compared to those, you are essentially getting all of the wall sections for free. So, as an overall toy and compared to Schleich's other current offerings, I feel this playset is a very good value.I would still prefer if the figures had some articulation. But, I understand the idea of having clean, unbroken sculpts that maximize detail. It is just a little disappointing that you can't even have the creatures shake their heads after being hit without picking up the whole figure and shaking it. There is something to be said for articulation allowing you to show expressiveness and emotion. And since Schleich feels, at least to me, to be going for a family-friendly and educational vibe, I think that would actually improve development in kids that play with this.Despite the limits in the figures, the rest of the set allows you a lot of customization. Each wall section is removable and hinges at the connection with other sections. So you can make a large enclosed arena where you come down into it like the hand of God. Or, you can create a larger open half circle and come right up to the action. There are two of the aforementioned elemental cubes included with this set. And they are stackable with each other and the other cube sets purchased separately. You can make a giant elemental tower if you wanted by stacking them. (It reminds of the same in the game series Skylanders.) Each cube is also customizable in that you can remove and reattach the side sections. You could even mix pieces and create all multi-elemental cubes. Even the corner colored pieces can be swapped. There are some good action features in this set. There are swinging spike grates, a ball slide that drops it into the arena, and a capture claw set off as your creatures step into it. So, despite no action features baked into the figures, there is a lot to play possible within this set. It doesn't take overly long to assemble either.I'll admit, my main interest in the set was the large wall sections. I was curious how they would look with other toys like action figures. Due to their height, they only really look good with figures up to four inches or 1/18 scale. However, if you are willing to carefully balance two section on top of each other, it can look okay with six or seven inch figures. Despite the ports on top of the walls, there are no corresponding ports on the bottoms or any sort of plugs that would allow them to lock in. So, if you stack them, you'll have to use sticky tack or some intense glue to get them to say together. On the whole, I consider this set a big win. It comes with enough physical stuff and play possibility to be worth the asking price. It has enough customizability that it can be fun just rebuilding and arranging the set; so it hits the Lego-builder itch as well. It is large enough and theme agnostic enough to be able to use with other toys like action figures, and I think it would be tremendous fun for a kid to drive around it with a few Hot-Wheels. The figures themselves don't even need to be used with the set and would look great just on a display shelf.I am first going to use the wall sections to help set the theme while playing with 7-inch Masters of the Universe figures. I plan to use the whole thing the next time I get out my four-inch scaled figures. And it just occurred to me that it would great my Transformers as well. As for the included creatures? They are already on shelf threatening the Skylanders I still have.

Nice looking toy easy return
This was a really great looking toy, but I think my kids were just uninterested because they couldn’t assemble it themselves. It’s a great size but we ended up returning it. Return process was a breeze.

Cool but doesn’t stay attached
Really heavy duty and cool toy. My 8 and 10 year olds enjoy playing with it. But get frustrated by the cage clips and wall attachments. They easily separate. Also no great way to store. But lots of creative fun outside the technical problems.
