Cheaper in bulk
Same stuff as the little bottles. If you check your chlorine levels often, like you should, this will last a year and save you money. Just pop the top off the little bottle and use this to refill it. Purchased a few times and the expiration date has always been fine.

For those who are obsessed with testing your pool
Here in SF Bay Area, I tend to keep my pool uncovered and very warm during the summer. But that means lots of chlorine loss. Even with salt water generator, I like to do lots of testing. This bottle makes the FAS-DPD testing more affordable. I keep the unused portion in a wine fridge at 58 degrees F and in a dark part of the fridge with no light entry. I then refill my 3/4oz drip bottle when needed. So far, this regent has lasted 3+ years without any apparent degradation. Towards the end of a bottle, I will compare test results with a new bottle, and they are identical. Same for cyanuric acid reagent which also lasts over 3 years if properly stored.

Accurate still.
I compared this to a sample test at a pool supply company (not the store chain but a pool comtractors) and it matched the same so legit!

Great value for those who test chlorine often!
This large bottle of Taylor R-0871 reagent is seriously a GREAT VALUE for the money!! I test my chlorine often (twice a day during the summer....yes, I’m OCD) so I go through this stuff quite quickly and the price of the small replacement bottles add up. This is a great deal if you test your FC (free chlorine) often. I kept my small droplet bottle and pour this to refill it when it gets low instead of spending $12 each time on a new one. Lasts a long time and has a long expiration date (mine doesn’t expire until late 2021!) I wish I found this sooner.

A Must for Pool and Especially Hot Tub Owners
I have both a in ground pool and hot tub so testing free chlorine is a must (I'm a liquid chlorine in both the pool and tub). A hot tub requires frequent testing (I test daily) since the volume of water is low (compared to a pool) and fluctuations in water chemistry can happen within hours. You can test your pool once a week without major problems if you keep the water balanced, but not a hot tub, I choose to test once a day. This solution came quickly, it was well packaged and allows me to refill my dropper bottle 8 times, saving a bunch of money if I were to buy a 2 ounce bottle every time. I use the TFT 100 test kit and this solution combined with the DPD powder (R-0870) in the quarter pound packaging is a great buyand will keep your sanitizer level dialed to the 0.5ppm mark. Highly recommend getting this and the powder if you are using test strips or are just measuring total chlorine / bromine levels and arehaving problems with your water.

Save money if you test often
From everything I have read, Taylor provides the highest accuracy tests for pool chemistry. In addition, their FAS-DPD chlorine test is very precise. The change from a pink solution to a clear solution is very abrupt so there is no judgement needed. Chlorine is the test I need to run most often. In the summer with high water temperature, I test at least every other day. Buying the large refill reagents makes this much more affordable. I keep both reagents for the FAS-DPD test (the powder and the liquid) refrigerated to extend their shelf life.
