Actually bought this to give oral medications to a small parrot. It is accurate and does what it is supposed to do. The included tips function as expected.

Disclosure: This was sent to me for free via the Vine program. I did not receive monetary compensation to write this review, just the product itself. I'm sure you're asking yourself "Bacchus, why do you need a pipette, especially a micropipette that can function in microliters?" That's actually a pretty good question and for that I have two reasons. Reason 1: I think it's neat. I used them frequently in undergrad and postgrad for sample evaluation and have always found them to be handy and just...neato. Second is that, despite my lackadaisical demeanor, I do actually DO things related to science so I kinda needed one. Whether it's precision measuring things for lab testing (either cultures or GC-MS) or just accurate sample distribution for sensory analysis, a pipette is a handy thing to have. So, when given the opportunity, I jumped on it. The JOANLAB pipette, in the 1000μL - 5000μL range, came in a large box with basically everything you need to start pipetting right out the gate. It comes with 40 clean (NOT sterile) pipette tips (unfortunately lacking a case or stand to put them in; it's just a bag). It comes with the pipette itself in a cardboard box with a plastic tray insert cradling it. This pipette comes with 1 pipette tip, ready to use, a pipette wrench (for both calibrating and cleaning the pipette tip), and instructions in Chinese, English, and a paper on the Quality Control process. Using the pipette is dead simple and, out the box, everything runs flawlessly. The 1000μL - 5000μL can be tuned by 50μL increments (5 milliliter increments on a 1 - 5 mL pipette, for those not wanting to do the conversion). The draw on it is smooth and has an easy take-up of the distilled water I had on hand. Everything about it is just...solid for the price, which surprised me. I always thought that, in order to have a pipette, you had to shell out the big bucks but this is proving me wrong to no end. Using it frequently presents minimal to no hand fatigue as the ergonomics on it are on par with more expensive models. It feels good in the hand; SLIGHTLY clunky between the piston and the tip ejector but still. I haven't quite figured out how to remove the tip ejector collet in order to clean the thing but the wrench IS involved so if I figure that out, I'll let you know. This is a conundrum for me. All my life I wished to have a pipette but could never justify the price of a professional grade pipette and yet here I am...with a pipette...that's just as good as the expensive ones at a fraction of a price. With 41 tips, the pipette, and the accoutrements, this runs a whopping, wallet-shattering...$30. What scientific miracles could I have achieved had I know that I could get a pipette like this for this price? Is my life a lie? Have I been holding myself back, not my equipment? You know a product is good when it starts invoking existential dread in you so this is a definite recommendation from Bacchus. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some things to pipette and an existential crisis to deal with.

JOANLAB sells some of the least expensive pipettes currently available. I have used larger volume versions of their pipettes in the past which worked well, and was interested in the capabilities of this very low volume device. Accurate and precise pipetting of low microliter and even sub microliter volumes can be challenging, and I normally use Hamilton or SGE syringes for that purpose. A replaceable tip adjustable volume micropipette would be quite useful if reliable enough in this range. The pipette was packed in a 100 – 1000 uL pipette box with an overlaid sticker listing it as item #0101023, 0.5 to 10 uL, and that was the pipette it actually held. An unlabeled bag with the tips (reportedly 1,000) was also included. The tips are colorless and 31.8 mm long, with an ID at the top of about 3.8 mm. They are not sterile of course, and are not claimed to be RNAse free. Neither matters to me. They fit the pipette very well. Replacement tips of this type are currently available on Amazon. Volume adjustment by 0.1 uL increments works well although the 3 displayed digits often do not align properly. They remain fully legible however. There is no lock for the setting but turning the plunger to adjust volume has enough resistance to maintain the selected volume in use. Unfortunately I do not have access to a proper 5 or 6 place analytical balance at the moment, only a 3 place scale which is quite inadequate at this level. I will make accuracy evaluations later. However, the pipette seemed to function well and using the available scale, the RSD of 9.7% at 10 uL was nearly identical to that for 10 uL aliquots using a Rainen 10-100 LTS pipette. This is of course far worse than the QC certificate values included with the pipette and likely reflects limitations in the electronic scale rather than the pipette. Two manuals are included, one in Chinese and another in English. The English manual is clearly written and describes how to use the included tool to adjust accuracy of the pipette as needed. Time will tell how reliable this pipette proves to be, but based on the evaluations that I have been able to make initially, I believe it will prove to be a capable tool at a very favorable price. On that basis, barring any future issues, I would rate it a 5.

I ordered the 1-5ml version of this pipette and its working really well for me so far. I'm not using it for anything where I need absolutely accurate quantities, so I can't speak to the precision of the unit. But it does come with the key needed to gain access for calibration should you decide to do so. The pipette is listed as having an "LCD display" but that's not accurate. This pipette has a standard display with plastic mechanical numbers used to indicate the selected quantity. Plunger provides smooth, predictable feedback and works great. And so does the pipette tip ejector. Comes with a big bag of tips as well, great bonus. At around $25 at the time writing this review, I think this pipette presents an excellent value. It works well, reliably, and comfortably. RECOMMENDED.

This micropipette was perfect for picking up small amounts of liquid or substances. You can dial it in on the side for the exact amount that you would like picked up and after measuring correctly it is calibrated well. If you need to recalibrate it it offers that option. It also comes with extra pipettes.
