An absolute joy to use
I hadn’t tried a Pixel phone since the Pixel 2 XL, which was one of my all time favorite devices. I decided to stick to Apple’s ecosystem since then, just for simplicity sake, since the rest of our family all use iPhones. I decided to bite the bullet and dip my toe back in the Android world with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and I have to say, I could not be happier with the decision. Battery life has been phenomenal and I’ve not hit the end of a day where I was lower than 60% left. That’s with a fairly extensive use of the device, including video watching, replying to emails, using navigation, and some casual browsing. I don’t really do much game playing so I can’t speak to that. Phone quality has felt fantastic. I’ve no complaints what so ever on how the device feels in the hand, or behaves. The OS feels buttery smooth and the hardware is just delightful to use. All of the screens are very good, but being a foldable, it’s really all about that interior display, and I’ve been thoroughly pleased with it. There is a slight crease where the phone folds but you honestly don’t notice it when you’re using the device. Just if the light hits it just right or you’re dragging something with your finger across the length of it. But that’s true of all foldable. Durability seems good, although it’s early days. I’d highly recommend a case that protects the hinge because I’ve been reading a few reports online of folks getting small rocks or even sand trapped in the hinge or inner display and it causing problems. No surprises there really, I’d expect that to be a risk. The face unlock works pretty well, except in low light conditions. But the fingerprint reader works flawlessly so, unlike my iPhone, I’m not forced to immediately resort to a PIN. Also, if you pair this with a Pixel Watch 3, the watch can act like you’re biometric unlock, so you almost never need to deal with any of that anyway. Great stuff!

Good solid feeling phone with a large outside screen
Has been a great phone. I had to get a temporary phone while I had to have my Samsung Z Fold 6 repaired. Now, I just use this phone because it has a larger outside screen and feels like a good solid phone.

Don't buy this phone: Save your money and the headache
I bought this phone for my husband, thinking we were getting a good deal of $300 off list price for the Father's Day sale, but we've had a very bad experience with Google, and we hope others can avoid what we've gone through. Pasted below is a longer version of the review placed in the Google review of the Google store in Oakbrook, Illinois that we visited. We had to condense this down to fit the 4096 character limit of the Google review. Prior to the Inner Screen self destructing, my husband was generally happy with the phone, especially the main feature of the phone of the large inner display. He did have the minor complaints others have mentioned of slower charging and less battery life than his previous midrange Motorola G100 phone. It was clear from the beginning that this phone with the fold was more fragile than others and needed to be protected, which my husband did. We had no idea though that the inner display of the phone we received was going to fail in just over a month via normal usage. Given our experience with Google, we won't buy Google products anymore, but if you are willing to deal with Google, we recommend you stay away from this phone or buy a protection plan from the beginning. However, even if you have the protection plan, there would still be the enormous hassle of going through support to get it fixed or replaced. ---------------- Appalling Experience with Defective Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Unacceptable Customer Service I am utterly appalled and deeply disappointed with my recent experience at the Google Store in Oakbrook regarding a defective Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. I purchased this phone from Amazon on June 7, 2025, and received it on June 8, 2025. On July 16, while on a snack break at work, the inner display began to fail. It started as a thin black line precisely in the center, along the fold crease. As I opened and closed the phone a few more times, the black area expanded significantly, rendering most of the inner touchscreen unusable. Internal cracks, vertical and parallel to the crease, also developed. Unfortunately, I didn't capture a photo immediately, but I did take one later that day with my work phone, which showed less of the black area than when I brought it into the store. I showed this photo to the staff at the Google Store. My attempts to get support before visiting the store were equally frustrating. The Google support website was a labyrinth, repeatedly asking for my IMEI and leading me in circles without providing any clear path to resolution. I eventually found out about uBreakiFix, which Google uses for repairs. I called uBreakiFix on July 17, but they informed me they only handle repairs and could not assist with determining eligibility for a replacement or refund. Given the lack of online and phone support, I decided my only option was to visit a physical Google Store. As it was a longer drive for me, I waited until Saturday, July 19. It's worth noting that I couldn't call ahead because there's no phone number listed for the Oakbrook store on Google Maps or the official Google Store website. We felt fortunate to even have a Google Store within driving distance, as there are only seven in the entire United States, and the Oakbrook location is the sole one in Illinois. We arrived with my wife and 10-year-old daughter, expecting premium service. At first, it seemed promising; we were greeted at the door and directed to where we could get help. I immediately showed two staff members the phone and its clearly visible inner display defect, and as they discussed the situation with us, it genuinely felt like they were going to assist rather than accuse. After a brief examination, they asked me to remove my protective case. My wife and I struggled to get it off, and one of the staff members eventually assisted. They then examined the phone further and took it to the back, stating they wanted to show it to a repair person. After about five minutes, they returned the phone. They discussed it amongst themselves, then asked for the phone back again and huddled with another person we believe to be the manager, who later identified himself as David. David then returned the phone to me and stated unequivocally that they couldn't do anything for us. He explained that the damage "must have been something I did," suggesting I had put too much pressure on the phone or bending the hinge too far. I reiterated, as I had several times to the initial employees, that the problem arose simply from opening and closing the phone normally. I also mentioned having seen reviews online about other users experiencing issues with the inner displays of these phones. David dismissively responded that he had not seen any such reports and, bafflingly, showed me his own Pixel 9 Pro Fold, implying that his single, undamaged phone was proof that no such issues exist for the model. My wife and I were stunned and in disbelief. I repeatedly asked, "You're really not going to help us?" As they continued to refuse, both my wife and I started to lose our composure and raised our voices, repeating that we paid over $1500 for this phone and they were effectively "screwing us out of $1500." We are not the type of people who would raise a disturbance without exceptionally bad treatment, even without our 10-year-old daughter present; we lost our cool specifically because we were being falsely accused of causing damage we did not inflict. The only alternative they suggested was to try sending it back to Google by mail to see if Google would have a "different opinion." They shockingly threatened to call the police on us, despite the fact that we were clearly not threatening them and had our young daughter present. I expected better support and accountability from Google, especially for a premium device with a clear manufacturing defect occurring so soon after purchase. The complete lack of accessible online and phone support channels, combined with the Oakbrook store's refusal to acknowledge a manufacturing flaw, their decision to blame the customer, and the unprofessional threat to involve law enforcement, is utterly unacceptable and a terrible reflection on Google's customer service. We will never buy a Google product again.

If heaven was a phone
Excellent!!!!! Best phone out right now. I went from apple to Google beat decision ever. I love this phone. A bit pricey but if you work hard you deserve it. Get a pixel watch too. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing phone, didn't come unlocked as listed
The phone is amazing. It did not come unlocked to any carrier as specified. It arrived tied to TMobile, so I could not set up my phone without going to a TMobile store first. That was annoying. Other than that, phone is great.

A great 2nd Gen foldable
Love it! The screen sizes are great, you have the choice of a "regular" screen or a tablet-sized screen, all in one device! The back cameras do not feel like they deserve the Pro label when compared to the Pixel 9 Pro XL, but they're still a Pixel. I don't think I'll go back to a non-folding phone after this. And you can't go wrong with plain Android (or "Pixel OS"). That new Samsung Fold 7 may have thinner bezels, but that OneUI and their AI will keep me on Pixel.

Game changer
I'm not sure how I could ever be without a foldable again. I switched from an iPhone after years and I'm glad I did. The phone seems to work flawless since I bought it a few months ago. I can't wait for the full 10

Good phone but it wasn't new.
I like the phone but it said it was new, but the box was open and taped up and when i opened it, there were fingerprints all on the inside screen! Edit: after reaching out to customer service, my device was replaced and it turned out to be one of the best customer service experiences i have ever had!

Even on sale this phone is still very expensive, but I decided to treat myself. I have eyesight limitations which make reading a small screen problematic and some Apps don't allow for enlargement. The larger screen works great in most circumstances. The phone has all the features I wanted like wireless charging, 5G and a high end camera system. Migration of Apps and data from my old Samsung was very easy and even the SIM card transfers digitally. The only thing I didn't like was the very slippery feel of the phone in my hands. It takes a bit of dexterity to open the fold feature without the phone slipping through the fingers. This made me worry about dropping it especially when using the camera. I invested in a genuine leather case by Torro which makes the phone bulkier, but also makes it feel much more secure in my hands. I highly recommend the case as well.

The Google Pixel Fold 9 is an outstanding device that blends cutting-edge design with top-tier performance. Right out of the box, it feels premium, solid hinges, elegant finishes, and a surprisingly thin profile for a foldable. The folding mechanism is smooth and sturdy, giving you full confidence in its durability. It's beautifully engineered and feels like a device built to last. Performance is lightning-fast, thanks not only to Google’s latest Tensor chip but also to the pure Android experience. Without the bloatware and unnecessary skins you find on other phones, the Pixel Fold 9 runs clean, smooth, and incredibly responsive. Everything from app switching to multitasking feels fluid and intuitive. Both the outer and inner screens are stunning, with vibrant colors and a 120Hz refresh rate that makes every swipe feel silky. The camera system is phenomenal—a true standout feature. Google’s computational photography is in a league of its own. Whether it's daytime shots, portraits, or low-light environments, every photo comes out sharp, well-balanced, and full of detail. The foldable form factor opens up unique shooting possibilities, and video recording is rock solid with crisp 4K resolution and great stabilization. Overall, the Pixel Fold 9 delivers an exceptional foldable phone experience without compromise. It combines premium hardware, cutting-edge software, and unmatched camera quality into a single device. If you're looking for a fast, reliable, and beautifully designed foldable with the power of pure Android, look no further. This is the foldable done right. The battery life on the phone is also great last the whole day without needing to recharge or carry a power bank.

Tolle Performance. Gute Kamera.
