Best thing I’ve purchase in a while - required no assembly, other than attaching the resistance bands but I use the machine without them. Like others have said, the step counter did show steps when it arrived but those were from it being in transit - no other signs of wear! I use it at work and it is quieter than clicking my mouse or typing on my keyboard, so it isn’t a distraction to those around me. If you have a standing desk this is a great option, and it is way more affordable than any under desk walking pad I’ve seen. It keeps you relatively steady if you focus on your core, so I have even done video calls while on it. It feels very sturdy, but relatively light weight so it’s easy to move, and pretty compact so it’s easy to store under my desk when not in use. I’ve only used it for a couple of days, but really like it! I will update my review if anything changes.

UPDATE: The seller reached out about my comments and included a video link (https://www.amazon.com/live/video/0dfcde01907c4fb98aee1e70f6413063?ref_=dp_vse_ibvc0) for setup along with a picture of where to oil if/when needed - where I thought. They also noted they have updated their instruction manual for their next release of it, based on my feedback. I've upped my rating from 3 to 4 stars. -------------------------------- Mixed thoughts on this stepper. Yes, I can use it to step and it is compact enough to fit under my desk, so it's handy for keeping legs in motion if sitting at the computer all day or to get in some "walking up a hill" if the weather is crap. Also, since it's compact, even if not used under the desk, it has a small footprint so it won't take over the entire room. Like another reviewer, mine showed up with about 4500 steps on it - I suspect it was registered from being jostled around during the shipping process. The unit is quiet and the cushions seem to work fine. If you have any issues with balance, this may not be the unit for you, although using the resistance bands can help with that (not to support you like a hand rail, but to make sure your arms move to counteract the stepping motion). It does say it's rated for 220 pounds max, so if you're of the fluffier persuasion maybe only use while sitting. The instructions for this thing SUUUUUUUUCK. While the general usage is pretty intuitive, one needs to figure out for example where to attach the resistance bands (and presumably which hook should attach to the unit versus which hook should attach to the hand strap. The schematic just points "tension ropes" to the 2 feet, and the eye hooks are not shown. Another example is for adjusting the step height, it references "Turn the locking knob..." What locking knob? Where? There is no reference to locking knobs in the schematic. The instructions for the control panel are just prose - no schematic to reference and since you have to press the button to cycle through the numbers (or there is a scan mode to autocycle, although I haven't figured out if I need to activate that or if it's always in that mode), it's tough to tell what you're looking at. Also, the description for time says it will tell you the duration of the workout from 0-99.59S - surely it doesn't mean it will only count for a little over a minute and a half, so I assume that's a typo and should note 0-99.59M. It comes with a thin wrench, an allen wrench / phillips screwdriver combo, and a small unlabelled squeeze bottle that is full of what I have to assume is a lubricant, although there is no indication on where / when to use it.
