spoiler alert
I admit I didn’t think this book would be as good as the other series. I haven’t been as crazy about the Dane and Kruger books as I was with the others. That being said, the turn this book took was a complete shocker. I had no idea who the villain was. I had even become to kind of liking the sheriff. I like a good plot twist and as always, Melinda Leigh books have been very descriptive without being boring. I truly felt ‘cold’ during the scene they were stranded in the snow. I also love how the characters Mac and Hannah were involved more. Excited to continue the series.

Wonderful book!
I Loved this story. The twists and turns in the story were very interesting and a little bit scary, but they had some good questions and answers to really important things that the story move along. Thank you so very much for sharing your hard work and time with the public.

What a great mystery.
This book kept my attention completely. I read it in all spare time the last three days and evenings. The descriptions were so good I pictured the scenes clearly, especially the escape made through woods and snow. Falling off the ledge and not having enough clothes on for the freezing temperature was clearly described.

A ghost from Lance's past starts a new mystery
This was another cracker in the Morgan Dane series by this author and I found myself once again falling down the rabbit hole. If you haven't read any other books in the series, you don't need to to read this one, but there are references to old cases, events and facets of relationships. Nothing pivotal nor crucial to the current story being told but if you're OCD about reading a series from the beginning like me, you've been warned :) After reading the description, I wasn't sure that I was going to get into this story as it sounded as though it revolved more around Lance's personal life rather than a case as such, but it hooked me in straight away and I'm glad to say it was a terrific read.Book 3 takes place about a month after the previous story ended. As an old Buick is pulled out of a local lake, Lance's life takes a curve ball as it's found to be the vehicle belonging to his father that's been missing for twenty-three years. The next problem? There's a skeleton in the boot. Morgan and Lance go through the usual battle with the local sheriff as they conduct their investigation to give Lance and his mother closure, but more questions start to arise. When people related to the case start turning up dead, Sharp, Morgan and Lance try to put the pieces together. Add to that a possible stalker for Morgan, a new ADA who's decided Morgan is his enemy, Lance's mother's mental health spiralling out of control and the latter's natural instinct to not accept help and shut out the people who care about him and you have the makings of a great story that had me unwilling to put the book down. The writing was solid and it was great to see Morgan and Lance's relationship grow deeper and take another step towards something permanent. The secondary characters continued to compliment the story line and I love how this author makes Morgan's chaotic home life and struggles to move on with her life realistic and relatable. Juggling her job with three young girls starts to take its toll as does the reality that her grandfather is aging. There was also a large focus on Lance's life and how growing up without his father affected him. As the potential for his mother to deteriorate increased as the case progressed, so did the repercussions on Morgan and Lance's tentative feelings towards one another. While the case of Lance's missing father takes the forefront, the author still manages to develop the characters throughout the story and makes it feel as though the reader is catching up with old friends. There were a couple of great twists in this book and once again you get the perspective of the main characters as well as the killer. It had a good amount of intrigue and suspense while still being an easy read. I didn't think it was possible, but Lance was even more delicious in this book - the perfect balance of protective, supportive and swoon-worthy. I'll definitely be continuing with the next book.

A great mystery
I'm hooked on M. Leigh books. This series, Morgan Dane, has been fantastic. A page-turning mystery where you could never assume who he villain is. I never would have guessed who the bad guy in this story was. Morgan, Lance and Sharp are investigating a 23 yr old death that is now affecting everyone that have been associated with the victim. Good story and highly recommend this series.

6-star Read!!!
When the long-missing Vic Kruger’s Oldsmobile is wenched up out of Grey Lake, those of us fully immersed in Melinda Leigh’s “Morgan Dane” series knew that at last, the question of what happened to Lance Kruger’s father would be answered. For 23 years, Lance wondered what caused his father to disappear out of his life. That disappearance forced the 10-year old Lance to grew up too quickly as he watched his mentally-fragile mother crash and burn. Former Detective now Private Investigator Lincoln Sharp was haunted by the case as well. Not only was it his case, but he had a front row seat to the fallout for young Lance and Jenny Kruger. Now Sharp watches the car slowly appear out of the Lake’s murky depths, fearing yet relieved that closure is at hand. But this discovery only creates more questions, ripping open old wounds for Lance and Jenny. More terrifying is that it is disturbing someone who is determined that the answer to that long-cold case remains forever submerged.Wow, just wow, wow, wow! I am not sure I can write a review that does this book justice! The writing, that pace, the plot - just sheer perfection. Lance Kruger went through hell the moment his father disappeared; his glimpse of heaven was his developing relationship with Morgan and her beautiful daughters. Now with the mystery of his father’s disappearance is back, front and center in Scarlet Falls and the surrounding County, Lance is doubting his memories of his father and his worthiness as Morgan’s beau. And although the spotlight is not shining brightly on Morgan, she is very much part of the story, supporting Lance, battling a new obnoxious and possibly dangerous foe in a new ADA and balancing her family with work. But when the chips are down - move over Eve and Roarke, Sam and Nick - Lance and Morgan are our new romantic suspense power couple! As for the resolution of the mystery - not only was it satisfying, but I am one of the many readers that “did not see that coming!” The whole “whodunnit” was complex yet simple, if that makes any sense. There are mysteries where you sense where the story is going and who may be revealed as the villain. But here, I really had no clue until Lance and Morgan came to the realization just who was behind it all - I felt their shock to my core! And towards the end, when Lance looks up and sees Morgan “like Wonder Woman?” Yes, Lance, indeed she is….Now, as an aside, I usually shy away from series that have the same Hero/heroine in each book. I always find myself losing interest as the writer has to come up with new scenarios between the couple to develop drama. But so far Ms. Leigh has done a stellar job of realistically developing Morgan and Lance’s relationship! I have full faith that this author will continue to make this series fresh and exciting. Fortunately, there are a couple of Dane siblings “wandering” out there just waiting for their stories to be told. And as for Lincoln Sharp? Now there’s a character deserving of a book and HEA!

This series
I loved this entire series! The twists and turns were great! The romance between main characters is something to strive towards and it was good enough not to need added spice.
