Best EV Charging Solution in its Class!
Overall a great EV Charging setup: 1. Fully adjustable charging amp rates. We took this unit with us to the Brother-in-laws. He has a 30amp outlet for his welder I’m his garage. We used an adapter cable and dialed the amps back to 24 to keep the required 80% max draw on the breaker. Worked flawlessly for two 10 plus hour charge sessions. The app lets you adjust the rate from 0-48 amps and everywhere in between. 2. Slightly more expensive than some of its competitors but worth every penny! 30ft charge cable allows us to easily charge vehicles parked in the driveway from the installation point near the breaker box. Tesla adapter included is well built and works perfectly with our 2025 Ionic 5. We even charged outside in the pouring rain for 10 hours without issue. 3. Customer Service is beyond Excellent! They get back to you quickly and even send messages unprompted to make sure all your questions and concerns are taken care of in a timely manner. Honestly, the best experience I’ve had with an Amazon seller. Feel confident buying this unit you will be 100% satisfied or they will bend over backwards to make things right! 4. Current smartphone app works well. They are in the process of building a stand alone app for their equipment which is exciting and shows continued confidence in this platform. 5. Remember to set the Amps to 40 max for the NEMA 1450 wall outlet setup (simple button push on the panel)! The 48 amp setting is for direct wire configuration with a 60amp breaker. They mention this on stickers and instructions, however, every YouTube review I’ve seen is sending the full 48amps through the plug and 50amp breaker. It will probably work but safety is key! If you are in the market for an EV charge station make sure this unit is on your list. I guarantee you will not find a better deal, all things considered. I did a couple of weeks of research before choosing this one. Make sure to check with your Utility provider. I was able to get a 50% of cost rebate with the purchase of this unit. It meets the smart-charging requirements of our provider. There is a 30% federal tax rebate available as well, but that may not last…

Awesome product, easy to install.
One month in and so far so good. I installed a 50 amp dedicated EV charger in my garage and was using the mobile charger at 32 amps. Once in a while the mobile charger overheated, I had a pro electrician check all connections and everything seemed good. I assumed mobile charger was failing so I decided for the Mach 2. Oh boy, charging at 40amps is so much better. Easy to set up, awesome display. Zero issues, cord is super long, which I don’t need anyways. Quality seems pretty solid. So far I’m loving it. FYI you can only get 48 amps if installed directly to wires and 40amps if plugged to wall.

Smart EV charger with a very long cord and can charge up to 48AMPs
This charger is great - we use it for our Tesla and BMW and its very convenient. Its nice that it includes the Tesla adapter. The best feature is the long cord. Makes it very easy to charge cars on the driveway not just in the garage. Also it can charge up to 48amps! The included RFID tags is a nice feature to give to relatives / friends that may need to charge time to time. Been using it for months and its been great!

Not easily impressed, but I'm impressed!
CHARGER: It does what it says it can do with charging up to 48Amps, when hardwired. It looks stylish. Has all the info I need on the display. Has an additional app with all the configurations anyone would need: Scheduling, delayed charging, and specifying the Amps (or kW) used for charging. This last one was the key feature why I bought this unit. In theory, charging at 20 Amps will reduce heat at the battery and prolong my battery life. 95% of the time, 20 Amps will be more than enough for me when charged overnight. If I need the full 48A, it's as easy as pushing the button on the side of the unit a few times (or using the App). Note: They currently use the Smart Life App, but customer support mentioned they were developing their own. DO NOT confuse it with the Apex EV app, like I did. That's a whole different company. Also, the only charger I found that comes with 30ft charging cord which was key in my installation to allow me to charge both inside and outside my garage. CUSTOMER SERVICE: This is the main reason I'm writing this review. I had multiple questions with my installation to make sure I was 100% good to go as a DIY installer. Each time, support responded in under 60 minutes with very helpful info. It didn't matter if my email was during the day, night, or weekend. That's how I treat customers for my business, and it's great to be treated that way when I'm someone else's customer! INSTALLATION: Notes: If you're comfortable around 240VAC and know a bit about household electrical wiring, I'd say this is a DIY job, which is what I did. Below is my installation journey. I hope it will help. I literally designed the whole setup using ChatGPT, and then double-checked everything on Google. I initially assumed the sub-panel already located in my garage would be sufficient. I mentioned this to ChatGPT and it started asking me the right questions that helped me quickly realize it was NOT sufficient. That panel was fed with a 60-amp breaker and I'm already running a mini-split, electric dryer, and general lighting off of it. It was working for my welder, but I'm guessing I never had the dryer running at the same time I was welding. So, I decided pull power directly from my main electrical panel in my basement. This required moving a couple of loads to "tandem" breakers to make room for the 60 Amp breaker. Note: for 48Amps, you'll need a 60 Amp breaker (must be 125% above the current). They also make tandem double-pole breakers that may be a better option for many of you. Note: The Amazon listing said NOT to use GFCI breaker, but the paper instructions said to use one. Customer support confirmed GFCI breaker was NOT necessary when hardwiring. From the main service panel, I pulled red and black 4AWG copper THHN and one 10AWG copper THHN through 1-1/4" liquid-tight flexible conduit with matching fittings. Pro-Tip: Pull the wires through the conduit in a straight run in your yard/driveway before installing the conduit and having to navigate bends. Best to let the flexible conduit relax in the sun for an hour first. Even when doing it this way, I could only push the fishtape 50-60'. My theory... I went with larger conduit than necessary expecting it to make my pull easier, but I now suspect the larger diameter allowed the fishtape to buckle/fold after 50' of resistance. So, if I did this again, I'd try 1" conduit, maybe even 3/4". So, I ended up putting an LB junction box in the middle of my 80' run. From my basement, I ran conduit to the outside of my home and then back inside the garage. LB junction boxes at every entry/exit point are the ideal way to do this as it breaks up a longer run and allows you to pull the wire in shorter runs, and it gives a cleaner installation look. Note: I'm not saying cut the wire here at these junction box. I'm saying cut the conduit here. I still had a full continuous 80' run of wire. The junction box is just a convenient "pull-point" because it's MUCH easier to pull 4AWG wire 30' than 50'! I could have gotten away with 6AWG copper wire, but I opted for 4AWG to reduce electrical losses (heat) due to voltage drop. The ground wire only needs 10AWG because it's more of a signal wire to detect faults than designed to carry current. Note: The charger's ground wire looked to be 6AWG, but unnecessarily oversized according my research. Neutral wire is not needed when hardwiring. It will be in the NEMA plug outlet on your wall if you're plugging the charger into an outlet, but the Mach 2 charger doesn't even have a neutral wire. At the end of my run (next to the charger), I cut the plug end off the charger and ran it into a junction box. where it connects to my 80' conduit run. I wanted to run directly into the charger itself, but the instructions said not to. IMPORTANT: -Connections NEED TO BE TORQUED to spec!!! This is a critical safety step that many DIYers skip. The in-lb torque wrench is cheap. USE IT! -I read on many EV Charging forums that the Polaris style 14AWG to 4AWG connectors will melt because they are not rated for CONTINUOUS amperage. I opted for a "14 AWG to 2/0 AWG Dual-Rated 2-Port 1-Sided Entry Insulated Multiple Tap Connector, Black" from Home Depot (Model # G60005A Store SKU # 409255). These required 100in-lbs of torque, which is a fair bit of strength. I'm a big guy and barely got this done myself. Some of you will need to hold the connector with a large pair of pilers while someone else twists the torque wrench. -I opted to use a large blue wire nut rated for 16AWG to 6AWG for the ground. -60 Amp breaker was ordered from Home Depot. -Wire: Ordered custom lengths at affordable prices from Wire & Cable Your Way (online). The company shipped right away. I recommend! LESSONS LEARNED: -Square D electrical panels have two styles of breakers, QO and Homeline. Get the right breaker for your panel. -I didn't know what 2/0AWG was. It's pronounced "ought" (or "aught"), which I have heard of many times. Just never understood it. They use the "/0" for wires sizes larger than 2AWG. So, the 2/0 AWG rated connector I used is larger (beefier) and can handle more current (more heat). -Use a deep 4"x4" junction box when joining the wires in order to not violate "stuffing" requirements. The 1-1/4" LB junction box I used was adequately sized. When in doubt, ChatGPT can quickly run these "stuffing" calculations for you.

Good charger, terrible time-of-day settings.
Update: they fixed the issue where it would only charge when it's plugged in during the start of your time-of-day window if you're using this option. Still no option to select individual days, but this update makes it far less annoying. Updating to 4 stars. If there was an ability to select days, it would be a 5 start unit. It's been a year and it still works very well. The charger works well and the amperage preset is accurate. I got this because I thought I'd be able to set the charger to only charge during certain hours when electricity is cheap, 10pm at night - 2pm the next day for me. It works well on the first day, the second day, however, it won't charge until 10PM. Electricity is still cheap at 9AM in the morning, for instance, but it won't charge until it passes 10PM and ignores the 2PM cutoff. Also, you can't set the days since rates change on the weekends. I have to go into the app and reset it over and over. Good connectivity though. 3 stars because it works well, but useless as far as time-of-day charging, which is why I got it.

Perfection, after the October ‘24 update
TL;DR They fixed the scheduling bug! Works perfectly after October 2024. Long version: I bought this charger a couple months back, and after an update it works perfectly on my Tesla Model Y 2021. It has always been great for the Lexus RZ, but initially I experienced the same bug with my Tesla charging schedule as others reported. I would have to delete the schedule on the car, plug in, begin charging, then set the schedule and it would hold off till cheap electric rates in the evening. Tesla pushed an update or two in October that broke this process. Not sure if it was intentional or just a bug Tesla introduced. I worked with Apex tech support when I first got the charger and they said they had an update they planned to push in October so I kept the charger and waited because I really needed the 30ft charge cable and I didn’t want to use an extension at 48A for safety. They finally notified me over a week ago that it was ready for my charger and I pushed the update via the app. Since then it has worked flawlessly for both cars. No resetting schedules, no waiting to plug in. Just park at home, plug in, and it starts the charge cycle after I’m asleep via the Tesla’s schedule. The support group appears to be spread around the globe so regardless of when I sent an email, they called me to discuss my question in less than an hour, typically within about 15mins. Always patient, always helpful. Talk bout a great service experience! I like the overall design and forethought in the charger as well. I hardwired the charger with a dedicated 50A breaker and 6/3 size wires from the panel using 3 insulated Polaris 600V Tap connectors in the Jbox. Be sure to use those included slip-on aluminum tubes when you use a connector like that so you don’t break off a bunch of the strands. If anyone tells you to upsize your breaker, you need to upsize your wire even further for safety so you can trip the breaker before you burn the wire. Disclaimer: I am not an electrician but I discussed my design with one for the installation. So far, more wire heat is generated at the charger than at those connectors so it’s all looking great!

Its a legit quality charger, backed by great support!
Hi EV Owners! I rarely write reviews, but I wanted to shout out to this team for an excellent product and fantastic support. I bought this charger for my VW ID4 last year, it has worked perfectly, allowing me to do delayed charging and also limit current. I use this function to match the output of my roof top solar system so I don't give my power company (nearly) free power during the day (they only give me wholesale, which is pennies) and avoid charging on their grid at night (when it costs a lot). Last week my iphone updated and I needed help reinstalling the app. The support team was right there, answered the phone quickly and helped me work thru the reinstall and re-sync. I give this a 5 star for a quality product and great support!

One to buy
It’s been a year since owning the charger. Installing was straight forward. The WiFi failed in the first month or so, still charging. Called customer service and they were great. Couldn’t get a fix so they sent me a new one. Haven’t had a problem since. Living in phoenix and the charger being in the garage, it will lower the amperage on extremely hot days. Great safety. Overall great product and customer service to work with.
