Camo chaps with shin armor
The media could not be loaded. I use these hunting when I stray away from the trails and enter the tall grass full of sharp foxtails and potential for rattlers.Brand new they are a tad stiff but they get looser after usage. The snap straps have plenty of adjustability for adult male legs and fits my 210lb lower frame just fine. The upper loop fits over a belt to prevent the long gaiters from sagging. The cano looks nice and the fabric feels protective and water proof. The armor protects from the sharp vegetation but I don’t know or ever plan to test these against a snake bite. These fit over a fleece pants base layer plus denim jeans and there’s a foam plus breathable mesh to pad the thigh area.

wide open from behind
the back is wide open, so as long as the snakes do not strike from behind you will be ok

Great for bushwhacking!
These gaiters are perfect for any backcountry bushwhacking activity you can think of. I like that they double as chaps by design. I have a 34” inseam and ordered the large size. When I have the straps that loop around my belt fully extended it pulls the gaiters up too high and with low top hiking shoes it leaves the back of my leg just above my foot exposed and unprotected. What I did to compensate for this was put two loops of paradors on my belt to extend the gaiters lower onto my legs to cover that area and to lower the protective flaps onto the top of my foot in front. To me and with past snake gaiters I’ve used the metatarsal flap at the bottom should lay on the top of your foot to be most effective. My old pair actually had a strap that went underneath my boot that I could cinch down to keep the flap from moving, this pair does not have anything to hold it down and I will be adding straps to my pair soon. Because these minor adjustments and add ons require me to make these gaiters a perfect and protective fit I gave them a 4 ⭐️ rating, easy to fix and I didn’t want to test my luck on the XL size because my past experience with others was that they were way too big for my legs. The quality of the gaiters puts me at ease for protection from the rattlesnakes I encounter frequently as long as they are fitting correctly and secured to your body so they don’t shift and leave something open to a bite. I’d have no problem tromping through waste height blackberry brambles with these because of the coverage they provide to your upper legs. All in all these are a very handy and should function well for anyone as long as they fit correctly.

Thorns
We don't have snakes here, well a few timber rattlers but that's it. I do however need these for thorns.Where I rabbit hunt, it's all thorns. They puncture and cut through even my brush pants that can withstand small thorns. Putting these over them saved my legs.I have no knowledge of snakes so I can't say they are good or bad for that, but they did protect me from 1/3"+ thorns.

Fits nicely
Haven't had the pleasure of being attacked by a snake yet, so don't know if it will hold up, but it feels like it will, so fingers crossed everyone.

Easy To Use
These gaiters are easy to put on after you get the straps adjusted to fit your legs. They seem to be well made, The stitching is nicely done and the straps are sewn on with extra stitching. This pair of gaiters come with a nice tote bag to keep them in, which will go right in my truck tool box.I did come across a couple of problems with them. The first being the straps that are used to run up and around your belt is to short for me I'm 6'2" they needed to be about 6" longer to work right. What I had to do was wrap the strap around my upper leg tight and they will work that way.Number 2 is the fact that there is no strap to hold down the flap over the top of your foot, I plan on adding a strap for that.Over all this is a pretty nice pair of gaiters if the 2 problems I stated were taken care of they would be Great. I did take away 1 star because of this.GH

Quite nice.
These gaiters are made very well and come in a nice drawstring Cordura bag for easy storage and transport. They have 3 straps that go around your leg and another that attaches to your belt to help hold them up. The straps are a little challenging to adjust, but once you have them set they stay put. If you go with more, thicker, or thinner outerwear you'll have to spend a little time adjusting them. The "plates" covering the lower legs will do the job with snakes, and terminate about 3 inches below my knees (I'm 6'1".) The rest of the upper is Cordura, fairly stout, and should be good for warding off briars. I was a little surprised that walking with them wasn't as bad as I expected. At $56 they seem like a pretty good deal for chaps, and I like the extra upper leg coverage for busting brush.
