'good kid, m.A.A.d city' is the second studio album by Kendrick Lamar, released on 22nd October, 2012. The album features guest appearances from Drake, Dr. Dre, Jay Rock, Anna Wise, and MC Eiht. It is Lamar's major label debut, after his independently released first album 'Section.80' in 2011 and his signing to Aftermath and Interscope the following year. 'Good Kid, M.A.A.D City' features production by Dr. Dre, Just Blaze, Pharrell Williams, Hit-Boy, Scoop DeVille, Jack Splash, and T-Minus, among others, contributing to the album. Billed as a 'short film by Kendrick Lamar' on the album cover, the concept album follows the story of Lamar's teenage experiences in the drug-infested streets and gang lifestyle of his native Compton. The album earned Lamar four Grammy Award nominations at the 2014 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year. I love this album and was excited to hear how it would sound on Vinyl. WOW was it great! The bass that comes through on 'Backseat Freestyle' thumps and is so clean. 'Money Trees' on vinyl is just different.

Good Kid, M.A.A.D City von Kendrick Lamar ist nicht ohne Grund eines der wichtigsten Hip-Hop-Alben der letzten Jahrzehnte. Als Vinyl entfaltet das Album noch einmal eine ganz eigene Wirkung: Der Sound ist warm, klar und druckvoll, mit sauberer Dynamik und ohne hörbare Pressfehler. Die Schallplatten selbst machen einen sehr hochwertigen Eindruck und laufen einwandfrei – genau so, wie man es sich von einer guten Vinylpressung wünscht. Auch die Verpackung und Lieferung waren absolut tadellos. Das Album kam sicher verpackt an, ohne Knicke, Risse oder sonstige Beschädigungen. Cover und Innenhüllen sind in sehr gutem Zustand und unterstreichen den wertigen Gesamteindruck. Musikalisch ist das Album ohnehin über jeden Zweifel erhaben: starke Storytelling-Elemente, atmosphärische Beats und Kendricks präzise, emotionale Texte machen jeden Durchlauf zu einem Erlebnis. Auf Vinyl wirkt das Ganze noch intensiver und organischer. Fazit: Ein Must-have für Fans von Kendrick Lamar und Hip-Hop auf Vinyl. Hervorragende Pressqualität, perfekte Lieferung und ein Album, das in keiner Sammlung fehlen sollte.
