Beautiful
Absolute joy to use. Cook most of my meals, specifically fish and meat on it. No sticking. No issues deglazing. Such a beautiful pan. Used on both gas and in the oven.

A high quality frying pan that also roasts, grills and bakes.
I had no hesitation at all about purchasing this pan despite the cost in comparison to other similar frying pans. This is not because I have money to burn, but because I already use Staub products and I can attest to their quality and functionality. The well-known fact is that cast iron retains and distributes heat better and more equally than a lot of other materials in the kitchen and you will discover this when you sample your dishes that were prepare with this pan. However, it seems like some people also don't know that you can use a frying pan as a grill, as a roaster, or to bake with. I enjoy enamelled cast iron as they appear to be a safer method to cook with as opposed to the myriad of bewildering chemicals and compounds used in non-stick cookware. Also, purely cast iron pans have been found to leech . If you treat this pan correctly, don't rush the heat or clean it with metallic implements/steel wool, it will last a lifetime and more. Although, some say it is dishwasher safe, I would never use this method of cleaning. Stick to handfasting with soap and water. Some people also are concerned by what they think are defects with the enamel around the rim. Don't worry! These are not defects, they are actually just where the pan has been resting on a jig whilst enamelled. The pans have numerous protective coats on and will fare fine. I have never had any deterioration. Or problems, so far. The only negative point is that they are obviously not as easy to clean as non-stick pans, even after a patina has built up. Also, those with dexterity, or hand strength issues, may require help using the pan. It is such a tank of a pan and very weighty.

Awful pan
The worst and most expensive pan I've ever had. At least you get a honeymoon period with other pans but this just cuts straight to the "burn everything that touches it" stage. Was very optimistic with all the good reviews but really dont see what all the fuss is about. O followed the instructions, washed it before use and even seasoned it on a medium heat with olive oil for 10 mins before cooking anything. The picture shows the result of the first use and I didn't even get to full heat.

Really heavy but such a useful pan
I wanted to ditch non-stick pans, and bought this Staub some time ago. I like a fried egg, and initially I couldn't work out how to cook them, but have nailed it now (heat the pan nice and hot with nothing in it, turn off hob, add butter and wait 3 minutes, add eggs on low heat, no seasoning required and dishwasher is fine). With the method I'm using, the eggs slip around in the pan just like a non-stick, or maybe even slightly better! Amazing. Shame it's so heavy, and the handle heats up so much, but those are minor points. Brilliant cookware.

STAUB, A MAKER OF QUALITY ITEMS
My frying pan has just arrived. With Amazon Prime it arrived the next day to placing my order. As anticipated, the Staub quality shouts out. The pan is heavy and will cope with constant use and I look forward to using it and feel certain it will not disapoint. This is not my first Staub item of cookware so I'm acquainted with its care and longevity. To all new purchasers, please carefully read the enclosed booklet concerning the care and use of your item. It will pay dividends. I'm highly delighted to welcome another Staub pan to my kitchen.

Four Stars!
I've never had a cast iron pan before. It's a fairly big pan and quite deep so would be great for cooking things that have a lot of liquid. It also has two pouring spouts, one on either side so it can be poured out easily, and this is great for pouring away fat from meats etc. The handle is also cast iron and you will need an oven glove or something to lift it as the handle does get hot. You will also need muscles bigger than an olympic weightlifter as this pan weighs an absolute ton! I do suffer with weak wrists and I have to admit I did struggle to lift this! There is no lid, which is a shame as I think it would be useful with one. It's a lovely pan (if pans can be lovely!) but it is very expensive.
