Q: Does it turn bi-directional (i.e., screwing and removing screws with it)?

It does... also, not entirely evident from the initial photos, it has a (small) screw-on handle (see the removable black screw on the side) that aids in steadying the unit when screwing in or out. I have even used this to adapt some quick-connect (hex) drill bits at a 90 degree angle with success, though it really is designed more for driving than drilling. Great unit!

Q: Is the bit magnetised so it can hold on to the screw?

It’s a 1/4” hex drive with clutch hold,so depends what screwdriver bit you put in
