Great cordless strimmer/ bush cutter - worth it if you
I already have a lawnmower with this range. So having the batteries was not an issue and I wanted to stay in the same ecosystem. So the actual machine is brilliant. Easy to put together. I know some people have complained but it is straightforward. Just need to follow the diagramatic sheet WITH the written explanation in the manual. Also available online. Worth take a copy for the future. Easy to get bush cutter head on. The strimmer is simple and effective. Bump feed works well. The really benefit is the power and ease of use. There is hardly any vibration. This is really important after doing couple weeks of strimming. There is also a lot said for techniques - start at the top any long grass, take your time and shortening slowly from the top with 4-5 sweeps; don’t be tempted to go in at the bottom. The machine is nicely weighted and with the strap over the shoulder gives you good control and comfortable operation. The battery at the end balances the weight perfectly. The downside - the batteries (2AH) will last about 15-20 mins on very tall grass about 1.5 foot high which is quite good. On shorter grass, feasible to a 10-15 metre square area easily on one battery. I have found that I have had to use about 4 batteries to cover about 250 square metre area with heavy growth. I have a rapid charger which takes about 30-45 minutes to charge the 2AH batteries - about an hour for the normal charger. So I use the batteries in rotation and charge as I am going along. Be aware that there is reduced charging if the battery is hot. So overall a brilliant cutter especially if you a number of Gardenworks products ; less good if you have a large area to cover and will need to buy 2-3 batteries at £70-80 each. The 4AH batteries are good but can’t them these days.

Great bit of kit
Having used a petrol Husqvarna strimmer for many years that has given me great service but finally died a death this year I took the plunge to go for this 40v Greenworks strimmer/bushcutter. Glad I did! It is so much easier to use and control than the petrol one, besides being much quieter! I can use it for longer without vibration affecting my hands and wrists. It has two speed settings, and on the lowest, which is perfectly good for regular strimming with the line-feed, each battery lasts for about half an hour - good for a large garden! The shoulder strap works very well when adjusted correctly according to the manual. I have not used the brush cutter attachment as yet. Works with my existing 40v battery from the hedgecutter/polesaw I purchased last year. Three batteries (40v 2ah) and two chargers means I can have more or less constant use, though for heavy use an extra battery would come in handy.

Does an excellent job but battery life woeful
I have two petrol machines, a strimmer and a brush cutter and I bought this to have an immediate solution when inevitably one or the other won't start. The first wonderful benefit is that it saves time and effort shouting at and physically abusing the offending machine. I can do the job in hand and fix the petrol one at my leisure. So, I've got something to compare against. First off, putting it together out of the box is simple to the extent that you don't actually have to refer to the user manual. Although some reviews say it's heavy, it's less than half the weight of my petrol brush cutter and with the handle and carrying strap (not a webbing harness) adjusted properly it balances really well. To the strimming: I took the machine, with the strimming head (which arrives already attached) into some really quite challenging areas, tall waist height grass, nettles and some brambles and was pleasantly surprised. It outperforms the petrol machines substantially. It cuts through the grass superbly and even cutting at the base of tall grass, it doesn't wind around and stop the cutting head as it does with the petrol machines. So, no having to stop to clear the head. I'm not totally sure why but one reason is when you release the trigger, the head stops spinning immediately but even with the head spinning, the grass doesn't wrap. Even better, hit some brambles with the petrol machines and your definitely in jaggy disentanglement mode. This machine, as expected, doesn't cut the brambles with the line but neither does it get wrapped up; it just strips the briar. Fantastic. On gentler grass up to a foot high, it also performs well. Although it doesn't have the bull horn handles, it scythes really nicely, as I mentioned when balanced properly. I mentioned earlier that it doesn't have a proper harness but rather an adjustable strap but actually, I prefer the strap; easy to adjust take off and disconnect from the machine. I haven't tried the cutting blade yet; that's going to get a real work out but on the performance so far, I'm expecting to be wowed. So, to the one big problem. When cutting grass, I'm pretty much running the machine constantly. The best I can get, on half power (which is adequate for relatively long grass) one fully charged battery lasts 15 minutes and so, max time is half an hour swapping out for the second battery. It takes 65 minutes to recharge one. To put that in perspective, I strimmed a patch of grass around 125m2 one one charge. So if you have more than 250m2 to do, you'll have to stop and do something else while recharging. It's great for a small to medium sized garden but if you've got a lot to do, this doesn't cut it. What a shame.

Better machine than expected
Very good product at a reasonable price. Bought primarily for brush cutting, and it does the job. Other reviews claimed around 20 minutes battery life per charge which is about right. The 2 batteries giving 40 minutes, which is fine for my use. Charge time not quick but not an issue for me. Well balanced machine and relatively light compared to my petrol machine. Simple to assemble. Overall, a better machine than I expected, so very pleased.

Just the Job
With out doubt this is a fantastic Strimmer. Ok I II paid top bucks £228. but this does the job its not a cheap plastic chinese tool this is a rugged pro/consumer machine the brush cutter is industrial and cuts the most stubborn brush the strimmer is the business. Cutting grass with a nice even cut. The batteries have a good life and take around 30 mins to charge.Fed up with a crap machine buy this one you wont be sorry.
