This is way beyond what I imagined. The pictures online do not do it justice. It's exactly 18 inches. The details are much more defined in person. The back is completely flat. I have ceiling medallions in almost every room, and I have had to sand the back of two because they weren't perfectly flat and did not lay flat against the ceiling. This is not plastic - I don't like the plastic ones, they don't seem to have as much depth and detail to them. It is also super lightweight, which will make putting it up easier. The quality and design of this medallion is exceptional. I am thrilled I ordered it. I will order another for a wall of decorative medallions I am creating in the primary bedroom. All glossy white medallions on a white wall. It's understated, but stylish. I love any kind of millwork - even some faux millwork. I highly recommend.

I bought 2 of these to go with my 1930s decor. They are made of strong Styrofoam. I painted the fancy design to match my colors. Installation was a breeze and they look awesome in my Living room. Would recommend
