Goal Oriented Title
Imagine growing a business from $2 Million to $106 Million in a span of 6 years !! It's hard to believe know but it's achieved by someone. And that someone shared some insights from his work experience, about hiring the same person for your business or becoming one, in this book. It's a short yet significant read. I like the way it presents the fundamentals with a straightforward approach. If you're someone who is thinking of starting a Business or already running one then this might be a perfect fit for your Bookshelf.

We all need clarity! Having run a business for 10 years with many a 'job description', constantly changing tasks, deliverables across most aspects of the business, this book clearly described who I was and what I did ...I was a COO and my partner was the CEO. When in sync, we were unstoppable and created a great business.

WOW! Having been playing the role of "second in command" for 2 "Start ups" which both had insane scaling up I can tell you that this book brings so much clarity to the role of "COO" - read the book to see why I am putting quotes on this title :). It's hard enough to hire the right people for certain roles as well as knowing what roles you need to fill, but the role of "second in command" can be one of the hardest and potentially the most expensive and disastrous if you don't get it right. Cameron, who has so much experience both in this role as well as coaching CEO's, has written a wonderful, easy to read, book that will walk CEO's and owners through all the elements of this process, starting with why this role is so different than any other role in companies through how to make the right hire! P.S. It might not even be a COO!! Lastly this book is not just for CEO's thinking about making this hire. As a COO myself, this was an eye opening book for me to read. This helped me put my role, my responsibilities, and my unique skills, in perspective with the relationship I have with my CEO and President and what I need to be thinking about as we continue to scale and grow! Well done Cameron, another book in the long list of extremely impactful and well written books you have authored!

I first hired Cameron to coach our senior leadership team in 2017, and since then, I have read every book he's published. My gateway drug was his book Double Double. Each of his books is 100% worth ordering for all team members, but this one, THE SECOND IN COMMAND, is perfect for any CEO struggling to find their main operations person (COO). I got my hands on an early copy and, hands down think it's his best book to date. This book will teach you what to look for and, more importantly, what to look out for so you can avoid COO hiring mistakes. Filling the COO role is tricky, and it is very important that you do not have a false start with it. The book is a quick read and offers practical advice and tips. If you are CEO looking for your second in command, I recommend reading this book first.

One of the best business books I’ve read. If you’re a CEO considering hiring a COO you have to read this to understand how important to your business this hire is. 7 our of 8 people won’t be a good yin to your yang and 1 will be perfect.
