Almost perfect (for the low price!)
Context - I have a (very large) brick paved back garden, which if left unchecked, can get like the weed version of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. However I also have a catio on there, and live in an area heavily populated with foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels, and other adorable beasts - so wont use anything "harsh chemical" - but so far the only sure way to get rid of the weeds is pulling them; not always an easy task with e.g. dandelions or grasses, and legit takes 4 hours on a good day. And with the recent "perfect weed growing" weather, and not having any time to keep on top of it - the state of my garden was next level. We're talking "something growing out of every single brick join" Enter then, the flamethrower. Wasn't sure how well this was going to work if at all, but actually, its awesome! Very simple to use - just insert one of the gas canisters, ignite, and then point the flame at the offending weed. It literally incinerates smaller weeds and grasses to ash in seconds (along with any dead leaves etc, so be careful!) - larger or dense weeds (dandelions and thick daisy clumps are still boss-level) take a few minutes to burn through the crown, but you get there. And best of all, no nasties used in the making of this deforestation (I wish Id thought to take before and afters - its honestly staggering) Of course there ARE a couple of things I would improve, but most of them go back to my context - i.e. I have a large area to treat, with a ridiculous amount of weeds. So, thing one - this came with 5 canisters, I used one full can and about 2/3rds of a second one, over roughly 90mins. I don't know if its possible to make it "more efficient", or if going forwards I'll use significantly less just keeping on top of the weeds anyway - but I was kind of hoping less than one can would do the whole garden; I'll have to keep an eye on how efficient it actually is though. A more practical issue - and I see a common complaint - the wand is just that bit too short. I'm 5'9 and found I had to bend just enough to be uncomfortable. Cant imagine what its like for a six footer. Probably not that much of a problem if you only have a few weeds to do, or are on the shorter side - but for bigger jobs it can be a nightmare on the spine. I also found that, after around 15 mins, the flame lost intensity. I assume its something to do with the gas continually releasing/ losing pressure - but it meant that the same kind of weeds that turned to dust almost instantly at the start, would take a couple of minutes of focused burning the longer I was working - while on thicker weeds, I had enough time to contemplate my life choices while it was roasting through them (i.e. from this point on, it uses a lot more gas to do the same job it did at the start). Granted, this is not likely to be a problem going forwards, as I intent to do a weekly "top up" burn now its under control - but again, for bigger jobs, means you have to take frequent breaks if you want to keep your gas use lower/ efficient. Even out of the wind, the flame can be tricky to light, and easily blows out. I found the workaround for the lighting is to turn the gas on low, then hold the nozzle very close to the ground (to help build up the gas a little) while igniting - for literally just 1 or 2 seconds before hitting the ignition - lights 1st time every time this way. And then where possible, to point the flame in the same direction as the wind, to prevent it blowing out as much. But yeah - could maybe do with a longer flame guard? The flame burns most efficiently when its blue (shocker) and absolutely Thanos-Snaps most weeds out of existence when it does - but as above, after a short while its difficult to get the blue flame due to the pressure loss (I think) - so again, would be good if there was a way to prevent this for easier work. And final "beef" - though it has an adjuster, I honestly couldn't tell a difference whatever I turned this to. Like it might as well just have an "on or off" setting. If you could beef up the flame for those difficult thick stemmed/ fleshy weeds, that would be amazing - as it stands, it just means having to burn those for a lot, lot longer, no matter what you do with the adjuster. All in all though, might be the best £20 I've spent this year - even with the multiple minors, and even with the shorter wand than would be ideal - and if you have a paved or graveled area that gets weed-infested - I cant recommend it enough; partly for the SO MUCH EASIER, and less time consuming way of weeding, but also because it is non-toxic to nature (and surprisingly fun!) to use.

Powerful, cleaner way to get rid of weeds
I was worried about reading some of the reviews, especially about how cheap and how the ignitor stopped sparking. I used a whole tin of gas, on full flame, to treat the weeds in my garden. The 5 cans of gas was a generous bundle and the wand, was made of alloy and steel. The wand felt hefty, strong and of a decent overall length, to suit most folks. Securing and locking the gas can to the wands connector, was simple and straight forward. The gas was easy to ignite by the switch. The flame was strong and didn't blow out, as I burnt the weeds. When the gas can is full, the flames and output was more powerful than when the can is almost finished. I used a whole can of gas, which was more than enough to treat all the weeds in my garden. The wand can also lit up the dry leaves in my incinerator, which was handy. I purposely turned the wand on and off, a dozen of times, to test the ignitor. After a full can of gas, the ignitor still looked clean and could spark up. If the sparking fails, then it might be time to gently wire brush clean the sparking wire bit. I am very pleased with this product and its helped me a great deal, treating weeds without using chemicals. Good price.

It has proved to be faulty.
It started off well, but after the first canister the flame struggled to get going and spluttered all the time. Then the ignition switch became faulty and so I have to carry a lighter round with me!

Fantastic piece of kit!
Fantastic piece of kit. Substantial and easy to work. Lit every time. When the canister of gas is very low and you turn it off you will need to re ignite it with a lighter as there is not enough gas for it to ignite from the switch, this just means you use every bit of gas. Burns weeds very well. Can be back breaking but I have a garden seat on wheels so it was very easy to just sit and burn the weeds and wheel myself on to the next part of a very long drive. I’m really impressed with this gadget. Job done!
