Favorite All Around Jerky Anytime
I have loved Lowrey's jerky since I was a boy, and now my son loves them too. It's been getting harder and harder to find them locally, and I have always been leery of buying foods online. We decided to take a chance and get these. And you know what? We have no regrets. The buckets of jerky came in and they are just as good as when we get them at the store (as in well ahead of the expiration date). If you know Lowreys and can't find them this is really a great way to get them. If you never had Lowrey's jerky it's closest competitor is Slim Jim in regards to jerky. In other words you get thin strips of beef pre-formed that come six to a vacuum bag. You have three of these bags per package, which gives you 18 pieces of jerky per box. If you are thinking Jack Links or other jerky is kind of free form with various sized pieces, or the thick strips of jerky you see on single packages this isn't it. If you compare them to Slim Jim's Jerky they are fairly larger strips, and they have a heartier taste with a slightly less peppery spice to them. In a word: good. I have been reading reviews that mention having mold on their jerky, and this is simply untrue. That's not mold at all. The truth may not be all that much better to some of you, but it's a fact of life for red meat. What they are seeing is congealed grease or fat. Remember this is real beef, which has fat in it. The pieces are formed from the real deal so now and then some of the fat from the beef will collect on the meat. There isn't enough to clog any arteries on its own so don't worry. And if it really bothers you it's not hard to just wipe off. For me the recommended "freshness" on a Lowrey's beef jerky is six months from the expiration date or longer. Luckily that's exactly what we got in our order. It seems at that date you get a best level of moistness on the meat. And yes the jerky is good six month out or even longer. In the past I have had Lowrey's jerky past it's expiration date and the meat still tasted good, if just a bit dryer than I like. I did notice ordering online is a little bit more expensive than what we were paying when our local store carried them. So if you know you can get it locally I would check prices first. This isn't a way to get a bulk discount. Lowrey's beef jerky is still my favorite all around jerky to have around the house. Sure there are better jerky's I like getting now and then, but to put something in my son's lunchbox or to grab a couple as a snack you can't beat Lowrey's.

Fresh and tasty jerky
I read the reviews on stale jerky but took a chance anyway and was happy to find the jerky with a far in the future expiration date and sealed from the manufacturer. It is the fresh tasty jerky I remember buying before the retail stores in my area stopped selling it. I am thinking of subscribing when I determine how often we may use it. I loved it years ago when each jerky stick was wrapped singly but even these 3-pack canisters will work well when packing lunches or snacking at night. Very satisfied with the purchase!

Just like I remember from when I was growing up!!
This is the kind of beef jerky I grew up with. Although I do love the bits and pieces of traditional beef jerky, there are so many more times where I wish I could find the jerky sticks I had in my school lunches as a kid. Now I can have them anytime I want....and these are the real deal. I don't know why so many people on here leave less than stellar feedback about the jerky being stale and what not. ALL of the cans I've ever received have all their seals intact, and in fact, even after you take the lid off, peel the white seal off the top, then the 18 sticks in each can are divided into 3 separate airtight plastic pouches....So either these people are flat out lying, or they have some pretty ridiculous senses, because every piece of this kind of jerky I've ever ordered here or bought at the store have all been perfect once I open up the inner pouches.

Beef Jerky that works for TMJ !!
I love the texture of these. They have a good beef jerky flavor, but are not the 'full muscle' jerky that tears my TMJ (jaw bone issues) to shreds. It's slightly peppery, but mostly nice smokey jerky flavor. It's also a nice source of protein 12 grams per serving. The jerky is packed in 3 small bags of 6 pieces inside the canister, so also airtight and stays fresh. I love the traditional 'rustic' type of beef jerky, but can no longer eat it because of the jaw problems…. this is great !

Pretty bad
My only complaint is the taste. And it's a big one. Tastes like cardboard with a heavy dose of artificial smoke flavoring and a tiny bit of sugar. I bought this knowing that it was chopped and formed "jerky", so I have no complaints about the texture or that it isn't "real" jerky. (For comparison, Slim Jim used to market a chopped and formed "jerky" style snack stick some years back and that wasn't too bad).

Purely nostalgia for me
I remember my great grandmother always having these in stock in her kitchen, just for snacks. As a kid I absolutely loved the things, but now that I'm older, I realize they're more like human dog treats (not necessarily in a bad way). Yes, they are an acquired taste, and yes, they aren't the best quality of jerky by far, but they're not terrible. They're sweet, sometimes you'll find a flake of pepper or two, and occasionally you'll find a piece of extremely tough "something" that almost resembles baked cardboard.

Absolutely Love It ! !
When I was a kid I used to get a brand of beef jerky that doesn't exist anymore and I absolutely loved it to death (well, not really to death, but...). I have tried so many different brands of jerky and have not really found a good substitute to that old brand until a month or so ago I found THIS brand in a small grocery store in the middle of nowhere U.S.A. and bought it on a whim. I couldn't contain myself because I had FINALLY found a substitute to that old brand, and I just had to get more of it and fast. So I came online to find it and Amazon.com had it so I ordered a WHOLE case. It got here in great time and was packaged very well. I now have a standing order to receive this product every so often and am loving snack time again. This is not the kind of Jerky that makes you feel like you just ripped a hunk of meat off a dead cow, it's been ground up and processed and then made into strips, but that's the kind I LOVE. Thank you Amazon, and thank you Lowery's! Signed by a VERY satisfied customer.
