Mixed reviews! Great but not alarm reliable
This a great device, however she keeps missing alarms which is bad if you are on a time limit

Great purchase
I really enjoy my Echo Dot Show overall. It can be a little slow to respond at times, which is slightly frustrating, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me. I love how it’s able to distinguish my voice and my daughter’s voice. Very easy to set up and start using! The photo display feature is one of my favorite part. it’s great being able to see my pictures throughout the day and it adds a nice personal touch to the space. Despite the occasional lag, it’s still a device I use and enjoy regularly.

Small Smart Display with Great Sound and Useful Features
The Echo Show 5 (newest model) is a great little device. The screen is a good size and easy to see. I use it to check the weather, time, news, and reminders throughout the day, which is very helpful. The sound quality is really good for such a small speaker. The bass is stronger than older models, and voices sound clear when listening to music, watching videos, or making calls. I stream music and shows without any problems. I like how easy it is to control smart home devices, like lights and thermostats, just by using my voice. The built-in camera is also useful for video calls and for checking in on my home or pets when I’m away. I enjoy the photo slideshow feature too. When it’s not being used, it displays my photos, which makes it feel more personal. The privacy features are a big plus, especially the camera cover and microphone off button. Overall, the Echo Show 5 is easy to use, sounds great, and has many helpful features. I’m very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to others.

Compact device with solid speakers
We picked up the Echo Show 5 for our kitchen, and the size ended up being perfect. It doesn’t take up much counter space at all, which was important for us, but still gives you a screen that’s actually useful for timers, quick videos, and checking things at a glance. The sound quality is better than I expected for something this small. It easily fills the kitchen when we’re playing music or listening to podcasts while cooking. Setup was simple, and we actually traded in an older Echo that lasted us around 7 years, so I’m hoping this one holds up just as well over time. That said, it’s not flawless. Sometimes it doesn’t respond to my voice on the first try, which can be a bit frustrating, especially when your hands are full. Also, I really wish there was a way to completely turn off the Alexa recommendations or ads—they pop up more than I’d like. Overall, though, it fits our space really well and does what we need day-to-day.

Tech glitches galore
Honestly, I really wanted to like this thing so I can easily see who is at my front door on my Ring camera from my kitchen when I'm cooking and listen to music, but it does not function well for either of those 2 options, as well as others. Personally, it seems like the tech is trash. It has far too many glitches and either needs a software update, or possibly my device is just trash. 1. It constantly disconnects from wifi or needs time to buffer when there is nothing wrong with the wifi. Such as playing a song and stopping to buffer every 10 seconds when my other Amazon device is still playing fine and doesn't have to stop to buffer, at all. And theyre all located on the same floor. For context, I have an older echo dot as well, and that device never had the same issues as this one, other than obvious wifi outages, my echo dot never freezes or needs to buffer a song multiple times before it finally tells me "I'm having trouble playing this song" and moves on or just stops playing entirely. 2. Other issues I have had include; constantly having to unplug this device because it freezes on the Ring camera after it shows me who is at the front door. Sometimes I can just tell Alexa to "go home" after it freezes on the camera but it doesnt always work so then I need to unplug it. Also it freezes after asking it to do other functions as well but mostly seems to happen when the Ring camera is triggered, and it will just freeze on that screen eternally until you give it another command or unplug it. 3. And if those weren't annoying enough, the most infuriating issue is that when I ask it to set a timer, half the time it works fine, and the other half, well lets just say it will acknowledge that I asked it to set a timer and tell me that it set a timer....but then no timer has been set, no numbers counting down, and when asked how much is left on my timer, Alexa responds that there is no timer set...this has happened on a few occasions when I had only 1 timer set, but also when i have had 2 timers set, there doesnt seem to be a difference. This is not okay when im cooking and baking multiple things at once and need to rely on a timer. I have almost thrown the device out my window because of this reason. Its a very simple, basic feature, however this device does not seem to do that well, either. At least not reliably. 4. The last issue I have is that the device just simply can't listen or respond sometimes, like at all, and other times works fine. There are times that I am standing within 2 feet of the device, ask Alexa to do something and nothing happens, no response, no light flashing to show shes listening, nothing. So then i have to keep saying "Alexa" until the light comes on, which can take up to 10 times. Then other times the light turns blue like she is listening to my command but then just does not respond, and repeatedly does that until it can finally register that I said a command. Sometimes I need to repeat the command 10 times and get louder each time before it finally registers what I am asking, and it will be a simple command, like set a timer for x, or what is the time or weather outside, etc. Honestly, I wish I could recommend this device but it has been nothing but a frustrating, subpar experience for me. I believe the device has some back-end developer and coding issues that need to be sorted out to make it function more consistently and properly, and I hope they listen to people's complaints and suggestions. And just FYI, I am technologically adept and have set up the device correctly. I work in data analysis and troubleshoot IT issues for work all the time, there's really no reason for this device to have as many issues as it does other than just not being a fully developed, functioning product that hit the market too soon before they could work all the bugs out. I couldn't even contact the Alexa support about these issues because my specific issues are not listed as a troubleshooting option, so my best option was to leave this review. Thanks for making it this far!

I definitely recommend it very much!!
I love the echo show 5, it shows .y security cameras without a problem, you are able to put your own pictures on the slide, your able to make calls, reminders, timers, alarms and more. This is my best purchase yet, it does everything I would like for it to do. It looks very discreet. It has very good sound quality and it has adjustable sound levels. It reads stories, plays music, and if ask it for the weather or news it'll tell you. Love it so much

Great Buy!
I couldn’t be happier with the Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen)! From the moment I set it up, I was impressed by how incredibly easy it is to use. The setup process took just minutes through the Alexa app, and the interface is intuitive and user-friendly. Even if you’re not particularly tech-savvy, navigating the menus, setting alarms, checking the weather, or making video calls feels completely seamless. The screen display is another standout feature. The 5.5-inch display is bright, sharp, and perfectly sized for a nightstand, desk, or kitchen counter. Whether I’m checking the time, viewing my calendar, following a recipe, or watching quick videos, everything looks crisp and clear with vibrant colors and great visibility, even in different lighting conditions. The sound quality genuinely surprised me. For such a compact device, the audio is rich and well-balanced with noticeably improved bass compared to previous models. Music streams beautifully, voices sound clear during video calls, and alarms are loud enough to wake me up without being harsh. And the cost makes it an even better value. For the features you get — smart home control, video capabilities, solid sound, and a quality display — it’s very reasonably priced. It feels like a premium device without the premium price tag. Overall, the Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen) is an excellent smart display that delivers on ease of use, screen quality, sound performance, and affordability. Highly recommend!

I held off for years - very happy I finally purchased it/them!
In all authenticity I've stayed away from all things Alexa since day one and never wanted it in my home. I'm a tech savvy nerd who saw/noticed that technology was going down the wrong fork in the road a few decades ago and began reversing things "in my control" at my end. I finally caved on Alexa, though skeptical, I enjoy my privacy and right to anonymity, which we little to none left of. True, no matter how many settings I shut off I know what Alexa, Siri and being online itself causes (any WIFI and Bluetooth connection), but I did cave and I'm enjoying these a great deal. Voice recognition is superb, they've obviously done a lot more with Alexa than Apple has done with poor Siri who barely functions anymore. Connection is amazing in my home, I bought 2, one upstairs, one downstairs, then paired them. Setup was super quick - though I don't love having to use the App, again I've reversed things "in my control" for quite a few years which includes no use of any apps other than staples (camera, photos, text, etc.), so I'm not thrilled that I need to use the App, but I use it briefly, do whatever I need to do on it and immediately close it. These little guys are wonderful, sound is fantastic, and that's with one speaker upstairs and one speaker downstairs, you can't even tell that it's setup that way - excellent sound! Volume is wonderful and I've really been enjoying it! I still have a way to go on learning the ins and outs, I find a setting, set it, then forget where I saw it/found it to adjust it, but I'm super new to anything Alexa and the Echo. As much as I love it and I do, I don't know if my direct through the wall home owner loves how loud I have one of my alarms set "KIMBA IT'S TIME TO TAKE A SHOWER - YOU NEED TO GO TO UPS" is set so loud with a repeat 3 times LOL. It cracks me up, but it's amazing! I bought the stands (sold separately) for each and I'm really happy I did. I think this Echo is worth every penny and I'm thrilled that I bought 2 of them - I love that when I run upstairs and downstairs I don't lose the songs I'm listening to. One thing I adore, once I figured it out, is the ability to shut off insights and all things I don't want to see or hear about - I just love the music, the alarms, lists, reminders and weather. It's hilarious, I keep saying (again very new) Hey Alexa, I mean Hey Siri, no I mean Alexa ... and then Siri/on my phone says something like I'm sorry but I think you're looking for a different service haha. Excellent product, excellent quality!
