Bought the reel as a Christmas present for my son and he went stripe bass fishing with it and loved the reel

I bought it for a week and I only used it once. but when i contacted the seller about the return because the machine is not as smooth as i expected. they told me that the reel I used was so they don't accept returns.

Awesome looking product. 2nd gen. Built like a tank.

The line lay out of the box is hideous. The reel needed to be sent out to Van Staal to get the spool height fixed. You would think after paying well over 500 bucks this would be perfect out of the box. Item is being returned. I won't buy Van Staal again.
