I use these J hooks to pull totes with a 500 to 1000 liter tank in the cage. The tote when full weighs around 2500 lb. I hook the J hooks to the tote and drag it to the door of my semi trailer with a forklift pulling a chain I attach to the hooks. These hooks and chain are perfect for this job. Saves me so much time and effort because you have no idea how difficult it is when a customer does not have a loading dock and asks me to pull a loaded tank tote from the front of a trailer on a slight incline, then turn it around so the forklift can take it off the trailer.I'm sure they can be used for pulling a car out of a ditch or anything else like that. I purchased them specifically to assist with pulling totes and or pallets out of my trailer. Enjoy :)

These J Hooks work for my uses, pulling race cars that don't run onto my 4 post lift with a winch. I don't use them for a wrecker service and obviously pulling a 2,000 pound car onto a lift doesn't put a lot of load on the hooks or chain. Great for my use but I can't speak for using them on something like a roll back.
