![The Joshua Tree - 30th Anniversary (Super Deluxe 7LP Box Set) [VINYL]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61CnYsTqQIL.jpg)

To mark 30 years since the release of U2’s fifth studio album The Joshua Tree, an anniversary edition of the seminal record will be released by Island Records on 2nd June 2017. Alongside the 11-track album, the super deluxe collector’s edition includes a live recording of The Joshua Tree Tour 1987 Madison Square Garden concert; rarities and B-sides from the album’s original recording sessions; as well as 2017 remixes from Daniel Lanois, St Francis Hotel, Jacknife Lee, Steve Lillywhite and Flood; plus an 84-page hardback book of unseen personal photography shot by The Edge during the original Mojave Desert photo session in 1986. Released to universal acclaim on 9th March 1987 and featuring hit singles “With Or Without You”, “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and “Where The Streets Have No Name”, The Joshua Tree went to #1 in the U.K, U.S., Ireland and around the world, selling in excess of 25 million albums, and catapulting Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr “… from heroes to superstars” (Rolling Stone). Time Magazine put U2 on its cover in April 1987, proclaiming them “Rock’s Hottest Ticket” and the 12 months that followed saw U2 create iconic moments including the traffic-stopping Grammy Award-winning “Where The Streets Have No Name” video on the roof of a Los Angeles liquor store, and go on to win a BRIT Award and two Grammys - including Album of the Year - their first of 22 received to date; as well as a triumphant return home for four unforgettable shows in Belfast, Dublin and Cork in the summer of 1987. This collector’s boxset includes: 7 pieces of original, live and unreleased recordings on 12” 180gsm vinyl: - The Joshua Tree 2007 double album (gatefold) - Live from Madison Square Garden 1987 double album (gatefold) - The Joshua Tree 2017 Remixes - The Joshua Tree Outtakes - The Joshua Tree B-Sides The Joshua Tree – Photographs by The Edge. An 84-page hardback book of personal never-before seen photography by The Edge, taken during the original Mojave Desert Joshua Tree shoot, 1986 and a folio of 8 rare 12” Anton Corbijn colour prints. Review: Super Deluxe Done Right - When it comes to anniversary deluxe editions I believe that artists and record companies owe it to the fans to provide the maximum amount of material that is available including any bells and whistles that might be lying about. This should be the case especially when it comes to re-releasing ground-breaking, era-defining albums. It goes without saying that U2's "The Joshua Tree" is one of those albums. This was the one that made them the biggest band in the world and most artists have tended to struggle to keep this level of quality after they've conquered Mt Everest. Fortunately, U2 were able to produce one other must-own classic album in the left-turning Achtung Baby. There have been very good albums since then of course, but it's hard to look past TJT and AB as the two definitive U2 albums. With respect to this 30th anniversary box set of The Joshua Tree, I don't think it could have been done any better. This is a brilliantly packaged set that ticks all the boxes for vinyl junkies like myself. It looks and feels like a proper super deluxe edition. If you were being picky you'd probably argue that a 5.1 mix of the album should be mandatory for an album this important. Truth be told the inclusion of a high-res mix would have been nice - but this is a vinyl release and I can understand why they stuck with the 7 slabs of 180g wax. As a point of comparison, Fleetwood Mac have done this for all but one of their super deluxe releases and it's definitely an audio treat to be able to choose between the vinyl or 5.1 mix. But this is about what this release includes and for me, this is a worthy super deluxe edition and comes highly recommended if you're a fan of U2 and this gem of an album then it's simply a must-buy. Review: ultimate indulgence - This is a fantastic box set. The ultimate indulgence for a great album. I doubt there's anymore you could want in connection with the Joshua Tree music and history. Worth the standard price, but I'm particularly happy I got this during an desertcart sale with added special bonus discount promotion (BIG THANKS) for a remarkable £59.

it's an amazing package. True it's a real luxury item but ...
Not cheap but if this album means as much to you as it does to me, it's an amazing package. True it's a real luxury item but occasionally you just have to treat yourself if you love great box sets. The vinyl sounds amazing on my Project deck.

Well worth the money
Vinyl edition breathes new life into an old favourite. The Madison square gardens concert worth the money on its own.

Almost great
An iconic album but not much more to add music wise in this package. Yes, you get a live album but it's not their finest. The b-sides are also widely available. The remixes are interesting, the Flood remix of Streets is weird but strangely enjoyable. Why score it 4/5? Firstly, the remastering is top drawer. The vinyl pressing is of a very high quality and add to that WAV file downloads which on studio quality headphones brings a new depth to the tracks. The additional photographs (book and prints) are also a nice keepsake but a bit samey. Overall a good, not great, reissue in terms of issuing rare tracks, demos, session or live versions. -2 * for that. +1 * for the quality of the vinyl and download.

A gigantic bloated delivery of one of the best babies ever born, The Joshua Tree gets it's fitting re-release by putting together the entirety of their recordings (pretty much) as far as released non album b-sides , it makes a bitchin' doorstop if nothing else.
