Value for good beans
It's pelican rouge coffee, you know it's decent. This dark roast has a nice taste, the beans were consistent and it was decent value

Surprisingly good for the price
I haven't got a clue what Amazon are talking about using the term "Sheerness" to describe coffee? Anyone know what the mean? Translucency? Any way, for the price, especially given it is fair trade, this coffee is nice. It's not the best coffee I have ever drunk, but it is really inexpensive for the quality. I'm buying different coffee now I've finished the bag, but I am sure I'll buy this again some time in the future.

Very tasty coffee
Having graduated from a stoic tea drinker about eight years ago to instant coffee, and then to ready-ground coffee about five years ago, I made the jump to grinding my own beans just at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic about a year ago, and it's been a heck of an adventure. I've tried a fair few different makes and varieties of beans, from a couple of the well-known Italian roasters through to a few of the specialist direct-from-roasters boutique blends, but I had yet to find something that made my toes curl with delight. Until now, that is. These beans are absolutely top-notch as far as I'm concerned. There's none of the acidity that comes with other beans, they're not too strongly flavoured or too strong in terms of caffeine content; they seem to sit in the 'Goldilocks' zone for me. The flavour from them when they've been ground to a medium consistency and brewed in a cafetiere for five minutes is mellow and chocolatey, and they work really well with both soya and oat milks. It's hard to believe that you can get a kilo of them for a tenner! Absolutely 100% recommended!

Great Fairtrade Coffee
We've been using these beans for a while and we enjoy the coffee we make from them. Medium strength and smooth. Great with milk, made either in a stove-top espresso pot or a cafetiere. It's always worth grinding beans for a really fresh cup and economical too. Recommend these beans.

Nice and strong, not bitter, Fairtrade too
Nice and strong beans, not bitter, good crema, the oiliest bean of the ones I have sampled so far - for the price it is great value - and it is Fairtrade too which I was looking for, so for the price this is great.

Reasonably nice, great value
While this isn't my favourite coffee ever, it had a pleasantly robust and slightly smoky taste. It gets the job done as a medium grind in an aeropress. The beans are oddly shiny, they look greasy, and tend to clump when stored in the fridge/freezer. This is probably because they're a very dark roast- I do wonder if something hasn't been added to keep them looking this way, as they stay shiny for some time- it may well not be the lipids from within the bean. However, they separate readily and I didn't notice any blockages in my grinder, or clumping, so it didn't seem harmful. Essesntially, this is a big bag of perfectly reasonable every day coffee for a fair price. You can brew a perfectly enjoyable cup with it. It won't be the fanciest that you've ever tasted, but you're not paying that sort of money. If you buy it with realistic expectations, it's perfectly nice and you will not be disappointed.

Coffee shop aroma and great flavour!
I bought this to try after having had Concerto, another of Pelican Rouges offerings on the lower price tier. I very much enjoyed the Concerto, which provided me with that "coffee shop" aroma and flavour and when it ran out, I looked to repurchase on Amazon and noticed the Doppio was on promotion, undercutting the price of the Concerto, so of course I had to try it out. I took a punt on buying 2 bags and I'm very glad I did. It is simply delicious and well worth costing slightly more than Concerto in normal price circumstances. The sweet, chocolatey aroma is there and it is overall smoother and tolerant to variations in strength without getting any unpleasant bitterness as you go stronger with your brew. I use a Melitta Aromafresh, mostly with a permanent filter, set up with water for 4 cups, 3 bean strength and running on 2 cup setting, which gives 2 perfect for me mugs of the black stuff. In summary, I absolutely recommend this as a daily go to, given the great value even at full price. It is also a delicious tasting coffee with a pleasant coffee shop aroma. Mmm!

Perfect cup.
Pelican Rouge, you can do no wrong with your coffee beans. This is easily the strongest of the bunch. From grinding the beans, to the first sip, the smell and taste are amazing. I am a coffee snob and this is my absolute favourite coffee. If you like your espresso strong and tasteful this is the one for you. Ground on the finest setting of your grinder, it comes out perfect.
