This is much better on my popcorn than just regular salt. It’s got a great butter flavor and just enough salt taste to make it almost as good as movie theater popcorn.

First time in used it I tried getting that bagged store cheese popcorn flavor just with this and was a bit disappointed - it has substantial onion/garlic background flavor that gets pretty strong if you use a lot of it. Second try I put it on popcorn that I had already buttered and salted a bit, and it was great! I kinda wish it didn’t have the onion in it at all, but it’s still good. It’s a little pricey, but A little does go quite a ways, especially as I said if you put it with butter. so I expect to be able to make a lot of cheesy popcorn with this one jar. Overall I’m pretty happy.

The white cheddar is my favorite of three flavorings. Ranch is not as full-flavored as the white cheddar but still a nice addition to unflavored popcorn. White cheddar and ranch are powders. Butter-salt flavoring is granular; possibly from actual salt crystals. Salt seems to mask butter flavor except when used sparingly which for me leaves only a whisp of butter flavor. I want the full-on flavor of butter so will likely try another brand unless the ranch and white cheddar can be ordered separately.

These are the best! Lasts forever & ORGANIC. NO MSG, NO preservatives, it's the perfect size like grocery store seasoning bottles. I will be buying again!! Great for Christmas gifting especially when you know someone who LOVES popcorn.

I purchased this product on Aug 4, 2024 . . . and by Jan 4, 2025 it was rancid! Product use by date reflects Jan 31, 2026! In spite of the fact that it is basically refined salt, it obviously has a short shelf life span after opening, due to the other miniscule amounts of ingredients included that do not enhance the performance of (I’ve read other reviewers complain about how the salt does not stick to unbuttered popcorn) or flavor the product in any way. While salt has been used throughout time to extend the shelf life of many foods - this is not one of those foods. Have you ever smelled rancid oil? That is what I get when I smell the product at 5 months after opening. This product contains both canola and sunflower oils. One or both of the oils used in this product are rancid - which leads me to question Watkins on the quality of ingredients going into its products. It tasted and smelled fine just 5 months ago, and I figure I should have gotten another 7 months or so out of this product that I believe was properly stored away from light and heat, right alongside my other spices. Watkins offered no suggested storage guidance on the bottle, so I guessed. I’d also like to mention that when this product was ingestible, it never tasted like butter. It just tasted like highly concentrated salt – but with a much shorter shelf life than salt. I would never recommend this product - but if you do purchase, try refrigerating it after opening. Instead, I would recommend butter flavored coconut oil sprinkled with simple Himalayan salt for a perfect movie theater snack. Try that instead.
