Coal Tar Therapeutic 8.5 Fl Oz Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

After spending hundreds on other brands this is the only product that works for me and been using it for years. You will need to be patient and give it time to work. It will not work overnight. I only use this when I have flare ups. HOW I USE FOR BEST RESULTS: • Do one wash and rinse to get dirt and oils off of scalp. • After rinsing, go back in a second time. This will make the shampoo distribute in the scalp easier since all the buildup has already been removed from the first wash. • Let sit for about 5 minutes or so then rinse I do this every 2-3 days and usually in about a week or two my flare ups are completely cleared! Only complaint is that because the medication they use, it makes the shampoo smell bad. I can get past the smell, because it actually works! Medication Effectiveness: 10/10 Cleansing Effectiveness: 10/10 Smell: 1/10

Works great for my psoriasis. Have been using for many years. Getting difficult to purchase at local drug stores. My skin doctor has no issue with me using a tar based shampoo.

If you are someone who has tried everything shampooing with medicated shampoos, abstaining from shampoo to relieve the scalp, etc, and yet you still found yourself scratching head and having flakes come out, this might be the shampoo for you and it’ll solve the problem instantly. I’ve been having an issue for years now where my scalp was always dry and simply running my fingers through my hair would cause flakes to come out and if I scratched my scalp it would cause even more flakes and eventually harsh itchiness. I’ve used salicylic acid and ketoconazole for a while and they seemed to never do the best job for clearing my scalp and I’d find myself with flakes a few hours later or in the next morning if I didn’t shampoo. After seeing a review from someone else facing the same symptoms as me who found success in this product I gave it a try. I can say that this product definitely works, for the first time in what seems like forever, I can scratch my head or shake my hair and it’s perfectly clean, my scalp feels hydrated and clear. You do have to use this product daily though if you’d like to keep these results however. This product really does feel like a miracle as I couldn’t believe something could really solve my issue and it did. As for the cons and why I ticked this down to a 4/5 from a 5/5 here they are -Insanely inflated price from discontinuation Call this the market price as Neutrogena pulled T/Gel from production so now we have to pay for the increased rarity. I never bought T/Gel before and I can see prices from before at a typical $10-15 for the amount I got, but after discontinuation I paid almost $45 after taxes for mine, and prices can vary on here from $35 to $50. It’s a shame that Neutrogena pulled this product and after this bottle is done I might seek out other coal tar based shampoos. Another con, (not really one for me) is the smell. Some people may find it to be a bit harsh, some have described to smell like gasoline or dry wood. I myself actually like it as it does have a bit of woody smell and feels clean. It’s not overly strong once you are done. If you think you are in the same boat for me, I’d go for this shampoo 100%. The only real issue is the fact that it’s now much more expensive and is out of production. We have to look elsewhere for other coal tar shampoos when supply is finally dry. Hopefully Neutrogena can bring this back.

I have spent quite a bit of money trying to control my dandruff. I’ve went to dermatologist and tried medicated shampoos and I’ve tried various brands of shampoos and this after just one application has made my issue so much better. There is so little flake after just one usage. I used just a small drop off this shampoo and lathered rinsed and repeated. It’s a small bottle but it’s going to last me along time. Just a heads up there is a strong almost oak or wood scent to this that may not be pleasant to everyone. I’m going to continue to use this 2-3 time a week and hopefully I’ll be fully flake free
