Great pack!
This is my first lightweight pack. I wanted a pack that was much lighter than my old one, which was more than double the weight as this. This pack, considering the very light weight, is extremely durable. and the water resistance is actually pretty effective. I hiked for a few hours through some steady rain and had no signs of water on the inside. If you are making the switch from a conventional type of pack and want something lighter, this pack is it.The main compartment has plenty of room to carry everything I need to be very comfortable, even in winter time, for me and my Dog. The zipped pocket inside where the frame is offers some extra organization as well for flatter/less bulky items. The side pockets can comfortably hold two 1L water bottles (life water or smart water bottle sized). The lid is pretty awesome, nice gear loops at each corner so you can clip stuff to them, and you can weave some shock cord through them, or use whatever cordage you have so you can strap something on top like a jacket, etc. The lid pocket can hold a ton of stuff... I personally use it for snacks, gloves, hat, things i may want while i am hiking so I dont have to take the pack off. Hip pouches are a decent size, great for holding small items you may need while hiking. The mesh pocket on the front can actually hold a decent amount of stuff as well, good for stuff you may need quick access to, like water filtration, poop kit, first aid. and of course more straps along the front to secure gear down to the outside of your pack if you need to.The general comfort of the pack is just awesome... I sweat a lot, so its inevitable to sweat on my back, but compared to other packs there is a noticeable difference in the amount I sweat, and there is no fabric that absorbs my sweat like some packs, some packs I have used hold the sweat like a sponge and take forever to dry I dont see me needing another pack for a while.

The best semi ultralight durable backpack this side of the Mississippi!!
This Backpack is amazingly light and made with durable materials. I love that it’s waterproof so I don’t have to worry about a rain cover! Not to mention the unbeatable lifetime warranty 😵😵 This has a lot of pockets for storage, the side pockets are big and can fit two water bottles in both. It has one large front mesh pocket that you can use for quick/easy access items like camp shoes or rain jacket. The top comes off and can be used as a day pack or it can hang over your shoulders for quick access to snacks or what have you. I bought this because my last trip was 12 miles and I about died due to the weight of my pack being around 44lbs 😪😪 Now my Base weight is down to 10lbs 🤯🤯🤯 I’ll at the most carry 20lbs of weight without sacrificing all of my favorite items I like to bring, like a chair!! This backpack isn’t so thin that you feel everything in it and very durable that you will have it for a lifetime. Though it is only rated for 35lbs max. I never want to get close to that weight even though that is 20% of my weight which is okay 👌🏽. I will be running up the trails to my campsite instead of dragging my feet kicking and screaming 😱. Thank you Granite Gear! You’re product is top notch without paying crazy amounts of money. 🤑🤑🤮🤮🙏🙏🙏🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼👏👏👏

Lightweight, Durable but thin shoulder straps
I love this bag, it's super lightweight and holds 30lbs easily. The reason I took a star off is because I got red sores on my shoulders after hiking 3 days in the Maroon Bells Four Pass loop. The shoulder straps are too thin, and definitely the achilles heel for this otherwise killer rucksack.

Bang for buck winner hands down.
Want a better lightweight (not ultra... Has to weigh less than a fart for that and expensive beyond reason) pack but $200 is your limit? This one. Buy it now. Look all you like it doesn't get better than this if you tend to do REAL HIKING where a town isn't 20 miles away every day with a Visa Gold card along for every little thing like all the stuff you insist isn't necessary then get mailed to you, use on trail for a day or two then mail home. Yeah, not a through hiker pack really i.m.o. As I am not one of those I personally don't care but then I reserve big money for little things like rent and food. If you want as good a pack as reasonable money allows here it IS.

Good bag. Great value
Very lightweight and well made. I do wish it had one feature: needs a zipper at the bottom of the main storage area to access from below. On my recent trip with this bag several others in my group has this feature and it was very handy. Otherwise a good solid bag overall. Lightweight and very comfortable on the trail.

Great all around pack
Great lightweight pack, very comfortable, love the cinch top! Only dislike is using side pockets for water bottles. Difficult to access while hiking. Bought an after market sleeve that attaches to harness to solve problem.

did a good job over 30mi on the AT
The belt zips are very convenient. The brain has lots of room for snacks and quick access items. I covered the pack with my poncho to protect from the rain and also wrapped my stuff inside with garbage bags. The shoulder straps wore me out the first day. I think the problem was that I didn't tighten the chest strap enough, the 2nd day I cinched it down and it helped a lot.

Light, solid, a winner
Used for 250 miles on the colorado trail. It held up, carried everything, was comfortable, and is well designed with lots of stuff area-that I really appreciated once I used them. I saw several other people using it as well. Water resistant but not waterproof so carry a trash bag liner or pack cover for the heavy rain. You can't go wrong with this pack!
