Excellent value and a must buy item
So inspiring but not for a beginner. The designs are excellent and seem easy to follow after you can understand how to do the different types of quilling. I would recommend this book to a novice or too someone who has been quilling for a while

Paper Sculpture
3.5 Stars Lovely glossy pages and although it states paperback this is more of a thick card and it even has folded over front and back covers that you can use to slide over pages to bookmark the project you are working on. Bright white backgrounds that allow the vibrant colours used in the projects to really pop and look stunning on the pages. The high gloss could actually be a detriment if working on a project though as they do reflect a lot of light and a quick test under my LED light showed that I would have to be careful if following a project how I angled the book/lamp configuration. I was also a little disappointed in the projects themselves - there is a little bit of quilling in each one but most of them involve paper sculpture more than actual quilling. Each project is worked in thick strips - mainly 10mm - and starts with constructing a border to work within rather than a more freeform, traditional quilling approach. All the templates are included but they are absolutely tiny. I was genuinely surprised at how small they were, especially as the photographs show large finished pieces (approximately twice the size of the template). So much so I think I would be tempted to trace from the photography rather than the template, or do some photocopier wizardry. It is an inspiring book and I can see myself adapting certain of the projects to work with thinner papers for images rather than stand alone items. That said, the various drinks (I love the coffee cup) would make a fun hanging if worked to a larger size - at their current sizing they would just be too small for display. I also loved the colours used in the various projects and it did give me some ideas for colour use in my own projects. Sort of a hybrid book that is more paper crafting with a bit of quilling tossed in for detailing and texture than true quilling. Looks beautiful and the projects do give you a good starting off point for your own designs. More of a coffee table book for me than an actual craft book though, although it does give some good information about working with paper and quilling coils and manipulating them.
