Can't detect or intermittent detection of certain U.2 model drives
I bought this for the purpose of being able to quickly test / pull data / manage partitions from various U.2 drives and be able to easily use it on my many PCs that don't have U.2 connections. for my purpose, I didn't mind the cheap build quality as mentioned in the other reviews... However, what's unacceptable was that same brands or models of disks did not detect or had intermittent detection. Many Micron drives didn't work (Micron 7300, 7400, 7450 could not detect. 9300 was intermittent but seem to be stable only after a FW update on the disk). Found only Intel DC P4510 was stable with this adapter. So this adapter is useless to me for sanity checking drives if it only works on a limited number of drives. ICY dock usually has great products, and what I ended up doing instead was frankenstein-ing my own adapter by using their flexiDOCK MB021VP-B 3.5" external U.2 bay, getting an external SATA to AC wall adapter, connecting the flexiDOCK slimsas 4i connection to an M.2 to slimsas 4i adapter, and put that M.2 adapter into an M.2 to USB-C enclosure, to finally connect through USB-C and it's completely stable with every drive I've tried so far. If this Frankenstein solution using their other product can work fine for an external USB solution for U.2 NVMe drives, why can't they make this product work?

Works, but overpriced and not the fastest solution.
It's OK. It works, but I was never able to get more than 320MB/sec read transfer rate from a Micron Pro 9300 15.36TB SSD drive. Overall the build is quite flimsy and the on/off button requires so much pressure to use that one might inadvertently disconnect the flimsy NVME U.2 connector while trying to actuate. It's pretty janky. In the end I returned it and went with a PCIe to NVME u.2 adapter, costing only 16 bucks, and am now able to get 3500MB/sec out of that: 10 times the speed and one-tenth the price: what a bargain compared to the ICY DOCK yada-yada.

Super slow
It is a super slow I couldn't get more than 150Mb/s I would not recommend.

Not Thunderbolt 4, but USB 3.1.
Not Thunderbolt 4, but USB 3.1. While not related to the device, be aware that the U.2 drive may get too hot without adequate airflow. Best if only used in short bursts.
