Classic Dark Choc Mini Loaves 200g

I'll start off by saying that I'm not a marzipan lover but my partner is and this is absolutely his favourite, so much so that it has become a must have for Christmas, Valentines Day and Birthdays. The only downside is the price which can at times be prohibitive but Amazon generally have some good deals in the run up to Christmas. So, while I cannot speak from personal experience, I'd say that this is a quality product for all marzipan lovers out there. 😊

Niederegger in my opinion make the tastiest marzipan and this alcoholic selection epitomises the brand. There are 4 types of chocolates (4 chocolates of each type), of which 2 types enrobed with dark bittersweet chocolate and 2 with creamy milk chocolate as follows. Light green wrap - Apple marzipan with Calvados (apple brandy) enrobed with milk chocolate. Orange wrap - Hazlenut croquant and plain marzipan with rum enrobed in milk chocolate. Purple wrap - Plum marzipan with Armagnac (brandy) enrobed in dark chocolate. Pale gold wrap - Plain marzipan with Mirabelle (a golden plum) eau de vie enrobed in dark chocolate. These luxury marzipan chocs would make a wonderful gift for the discerning chocolate lover as they are absolutely yummy and very moreish, with the individually distinctive alcohols providing a perfect partner for the melt in your mouth fruity marzipans and finest quality thin chocolate couvertures. Note that although the product header description from the sellers says Fig vodka, there is no mention of this in the list of ingredients on the box, so I think this is an error.

I'm a marzipan fanatic. And Niederegger is the best marzipan manufacturer in the world (I'd love to do the factory tour in Luebeck sometime!) because, I think, they use a higher proportion of quality almonds and less sugar than other manufacturers - which is why they're more expensive. But I love the almond flavour with less of the sweetness. I especially think that the marzipan contrasts perfectly with the taste of the dark chocolate. These marzipan choccies are the best but expensive. But why only 4 stars I hear you ask?- because of the high price!

Nice little box, perfect for gifting. Only downside is one of the chocolates had turned inside the box before it got to me and I couldn't turn it back to face outwards like the others - but I've still gifted it as they probably won't notice.

Some people buy them as gifts.... I wouldn't trust myself to do so .... I would eat them on arrival. They are perfect. What can I say .... even if you normally don't like marzipan ... I am sure you will love them. If you do love marzipan ... these are the best.

Although the best before date is still a couple of months into the future the chocolate had white patches and did not taste the best.

I bought these chocolates for a gift for my mum , today she told me they ended up in the bin as the chocolate was odd/ she said whiteish in colour like they had been left in the sun and she bit into one and said it was so hard she nearly broke a tooth ! Unfortunately I can not put a photo on here as she had thrown them away .

I was surprised these were so small, as I’ve only ever bought the bigger size, but happy with the quality of the marzipan and the chocolate. And it’s hard to find this brand!
